Tall Trees is a unique Cotswolds care home that has been expertly built from local stone to feel a part of the Cotswolds landscape, providing residential, nursing and dementia care to up to 60 elderly residents, including trial stays, short stays, convalescent care and long-term care for individuals or couples.

A number of nearby towns are within easy reach, including Chipping Norton and Cheltenham, for residents to use and maintain their independence, as well as to enjoy the natural beauty the area is known for.

With a highly qualified team that also undergo dementia training, each resident is offered the highest standard of care to meet their health and wellbeing needs. This training is also extended to the kitchen team, equipping them with the skills to cater for all residents, including those living with dementia or dysphasia, and promote a balanced, nutritional and, most importantly, enjoyable diet.

I visited Tall Trees care centre in March 2022 after a very friendly phone call to check if I could visit a friend there. I was hugely impressed with the centre - very friendly, cheerful staff in beautifully presented, homely rooms. My friend couldn't be in a better place.

After travelling up from Devon to visit my mum, not knowing what to expect, I was blown away by the professionalism of the staff. Everyone from the start of my visit, who spoke to Mum, showed her such care and encouragement. You do not feel you are in a care home, it feels more like a relaxing hotel
environment. I feel very at ease knowing my mum is getting the very best help on her road to recovery. thank you Tall Trees.

Always greeted with a smile at reception. During these times of covid, we don't get to see or speak to many other members of staff. The nursing staff make sure they phone me if they have any concerns about Mum. I would love to know more about what Mum gets up to when I am not around.

Improvements in the last few months and no covid here. New management will hopefully move it forward. Relative is cared for in a respectful manner. Cleanliness is excellent and the staff are very helpful. Meals occasionally don't suit a person with Alzheimer's.

The home has got better with communication with families during this pandemic - they have been really poor at times. There are still improvements required with the medical team following up and informing us of results. The care staff on the floor are brilliant, along with the domestic staff. I cannot
fault the staff on our recent visits, with all the new procedures to allow is to visit Nan regularly.

During the pandemic, Mum has been cared for very well and still seems happy and well. The staff have made visiting possible when allowed and is always very well organised and very safe. Well done to everyone ensuring this is a Covid free home.

I'm devastated to have been informed that Tall Trees is reducing visiting to 3 a day on weekdays and no visits at weekends.
There must be at least 50 residents which means that I'll only get to see my 90 year old father once a month and I'll lose a day's pay when I do.

I don't really think that

this is acceptable.
I can only imagine that it's a money-saving measure. Infection risk doesn't vary by day.
This is despite having had staff off on furlough and raising their prices by many times inflation.

When your father is diagnosed with Lewy body dementia your heart breaks into a thousand pieces. Knowing dad is respected, treated with dignity and kindness by such hard-working carers and all staff has replaced the heartache with peace at this prolonged chapter in our lives.

My husband came home with a happy expression, looking well cared for and slipped easily back into our home routine. I was so relieved to find Tall Trees, which is extremely well run, with lovely caring staff and I now look forward to my husbands next stay here, giving me carefree respite.

The care home feels like a family experience. Everyone is kind and considerate and extremely helpful. The care home is safe, clean and security is paramount. The activities are well organised and varied and outside the grounds are beautifully kept with attention to quiet places to sit and relax and
enjoy the views. The atmosphere is cheery, relaxed and happy.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.517)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.517) out of 10 for Tall Trees is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.607 for Tall Trees is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 56 Ratings = 4.607

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.91 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tall Trees is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.41

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
