My father had a short stay at Tall Trees after being in hospital and was treated with dignity and care at all times.

Lovely to relax about the care when I'm so far away. Attention to diet and support for my niece who takes so much responsibility.
What a relief.

My Mum's right hand is 'clawed' and for some time we have been asking for something to be done to improve it as she could not use it and was in pain. A member of staff at Tall Trees, has, over the last couple of weeks, soaked and massaged the hand faithfully and Mum is now able to hold a fork and this
makes feeding herself much easier. We are sad this wasn't done sooner, but grateful for the care now being shown.

The standard of care has been extremely high. My father's care has remained the main priority during his time at Tall Trees. The wonderful staff and management look after him as if he were their own family member, and the communication during his latest illness has been first class. A huge thank you
to all at Tall Trees.

Mum is at present staying at Tall Trees after a recent hospital stay,
and what a beautiful place it is, such a welcoming feeling as soon as you walk through the door.
Mum is so well cared for and all her needs are being met fully.
Mum is in the willow unit, all the staff there that I have met have
been so friendly and make us feel at home when there. Nothing is to much trouble and you can always find a member of staff, the staff ratio seems very good.
The food always smells appealing and looks very delicious.
Unable to really comment on the management as haven't met them, but I'm sure if I needed them it wouldn't be a problem.

My cousin was a temporary resident - aged 90. She had a broken wrist and could not manage on her own. She was well cared for with a comfortable room and settled far better than expected. The fact that a member of staff volunteered to board her dog for the duration of her stay made life easier for all
concerned. She is, of course, gland to be home, but we feel that if it comes to the point when she needs full-time care then Tall Trees would be our choice for residential care.

My father was at Tall Trees for just over 4 years. He had dementia and the staff looked after him extremely well. He recently passed away and the staff were excellent in caring for him at the end of his life. I can't thank them enough and I will miss seeing them as they became part of my life.

Mum has been in Tall Trees for quite a few years now. The staff have always been helpful, caring, communicative and kind. When Mum was unwell recently the staff were excellent. Mum is in safe hands. I would highly recommend Tall Trees - particularly for dementia care.

Tall Trees seems in turmoil at the moment. Regular staff seem to be missing often and those on duty have lost their sparkle. Having said that, I have no real issues with the care given but I do speak quickly if I find something not right e.g. a lunch tray placed in front of mum with no offer of help!
However, I have yet to see the manager, except through the office door. Cleanliness of the room has improved; it is also good to see some refurbishment around the corridors. Activities are very poor, usually one to one and nails being done! But I also accept that mum does not like mixing. I would say though that she was well cared for when dad passed away in Tall Trees some months ago.

I would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that my mother received during the 11 months she resided at Tall Trees. From the manager down all the staff were kind and supportive. They treated mum with dignity respect and understanding. Crucially they also helped our family come to terms with mum's
rapid decline due to sudden dementia. The past year has been an emotional roller-coaster but made so much more bearable due to the staff at Tall Trees. Thank you so much.

My husband has frontotemporal dementia, he is very challenging and very loud, he loves to bang and try to make a noise all day long but his mood is happy. He can, obviously, upset other residents with his behaviour. Tall Trees were willing to take him on and I am very pleased with the progress they
are making. I believe my husband to be happy (as long as he gets tea/biscuits) he tells all staff he loves them, he is a jolly fellow and is not aggressive. I looked at many homes who cater specifically for frontotemporal dementia only but were all 1 to 1 1/2 hours away. I was keen to try my local home as its very convenient for visiting. when, hopefully, another day they will accept him as a live-in resident. Such lovely caring staff and management. I feel like family already.

A previous care home left my disabled husband anxious and even frightened of staff and depressed by his surroundings. After a few days at Tall Trees Care Home, he began to relax and start to enjoy the meals. The home has a very welcoming and homely atmosphere.
The nursing care is excellent and that
is the opinion of an ex-nursing sister. The staff are polite and friendly and well trained. Long may it continue this way.

In the parts of Tall Trees that I have been associated with the general atmosphere is efficient but carried out in a very happy arrangement. A great deal more laughter than tears. And I feel that my Wife is in good hands.

Our friend spent the last 20 months of his life being cared for at Tall Trees.

He loved being there and as he got frailer, the staff were all so kind to him. Would really recommend this nursing home to anyone that finds that they are in the position of needing one.

I'm very impressed with the level of support Dad is given in the home. The staff are so caring and patient. It is a great relief to know that I do not have to worry about Dad as I know he is being looked after 24/7. The home is also very welcoming every time I visit. I feel I am part of one big family!

Generally, I am very happy with my mother's experience at Tall Trees. I would like to see her more involved in activities but I think this is down to my mother, more than the home. Mum feels safe and secure here and her anxiety levels are pretty low now. She always looks clean and presentable and
seems to enjoy the food. My big disappointment has been the ongoing problem with the lift. I find it ridiculous that it has been out of action for so long.

Reply from Michelle Little, Home Manager at Tall Trees

Thank you for taking the time to review Tall Trees, we really appreciate your feedback. At Tall Trees, we take great pride in ensuring we provide high-quality care and facilities. Our daily activities are an extremely important part of life at the home, so we have requested that one of our Activities Coordinators invites you to be involved in the regular review of your mother’s activity programme.

We apologise for any inconvenience which has been caused to you or your mother due to one of our lifts being out action. Unfortunately, we have had to wait for parts to be made and delivered from abroad but the lift is in the process of being fixed and will be up and running in the very near future. We have had a stair lift fitted and we have also been able to use an alternative lift for residents.

We welcome the opportunity to improve, and hope you will continue to share your thoughts with us in the home in future.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.517)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.517) out of 10 for Tall Trees is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.607 for Tall Trees is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 56 Ratings = 4.607

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.91 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tall Trees is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.41

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
