Welcoming helpful staff that go above and beyond their duties. Can’t thank the staff enough for all the care and attention and the support that they give to my auntie and her visitors. Nothing is ever a trouble or problem for them. The facilities themselves are stunning and very well maintained. A bonus
is the lovely friendly cafe onsite too which is full of lovely treats. Highly recommended.

My dad spent a lot of time in Chase Park whilst we were waiting for adaptions to be done to our house but moved in permanently in October 2018 due to care packages breaking down. Due to hypoxic brain injury, my dad lost his speech, needed to be hoisted, was also peg fed and all care needed. We had a
few issues before October 2018 but we then started to notice a huge difference in the staff and the way Chase Park was being managed, it seemed to turn itself around overnight. As a family, we felt like we could communicate with the staff more and they always let us know what was going on with my dad, unfortunately, my dad passed away in hospital December 2018 but I would highly recommend Chase Park to friends and family.

I know that the staff team were very saddened by the passing of your dad and I will ensure that I will pass on your positive feedback to the staff.

I have found during my uncle's stay at The Chase that:-
- care varies greatly depending upon the members of staff deployed on any particular day.
- staff to residents ratio is too low, especially at weekends.
- the building is in need of much updating and deep cleaning.
- meals are not of a very
high nutritional standard.
- communication with relatives (who have LPA) is very poor, i.e. we were not informed of the last manager's departure or the appointment of a new one.
- we are not informed immediately if there is a problem/concern about my uncle.
- the turn over of care staff means we often do not see the same person twice in a month.
- the reliance on agency staff, both carers and nurses, means that information regarding not only the resident but also the establishment itself is not always readily available.

Reply from Colin Inglis, Operations Director at Chase Park Neuro Centre

Dear Shauna
When I was first made aware of the concerns about the care of your uncle, I contacted you and we managed to have a positive meeting last week, to review the current concerns and work towards making the required improvements. It is always difficult when two different care providers are involved, but I believe that we will be in a better position to combine resources and be able to move forward and provide more continuity of care. We have reduced the use of agency staff over recent weeks and we will continue to recruit suitable nursing and support staff to improve the continuity of care. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any additional information.
Regards
Colin.

Fantastic care! Staff were friendly, professional, supportive and caring. All support was based around the needs and wants of my sister, she was treated with dignity and respect at all times, and during end of life care they were extremely respectful and accommodating to our whole family. Nothing was
too much trouble for the staff team, they were happy to help with any requests and even allowed a second bed in the room so we were able to stay with my sister. They made the transition from independent living to residential care a lot easier.

Dear Sir/Madam,
A friend of mine was admitted to Chase Park following amputation and a CVA.

I found after a couple of visits that:
No approach from staff to inform me of the wellbeing of the person I was visiting.
The premises seemed in a state of disrepair with paint peeling, gutters filled with

weeds, cigarette ends strewn over the garden, staff v residents smoking 5:1. Staff slovenly and uninterested, a certain ‘postal code’ care regime! I hope I am mistaken.
I found that no key carer/nurse had been allocated to the resident I was visiting and that he was unaware of any.
He had reported perceived maltreatment on 3 occasions over 3 weeks without any feedback.
This is not a good reflection of your establishment and I will forward my concerns to the CQC.
Yours

Reply from Rebecca Travis, Registered Manager at Chase Park Neuro Centre

1. At Chase Park a period of initial assessment of 6 weeks is our standard practice. A named professional is allocated after this period once therapeutic relationships can be established.
2. Under the new Government GDPR Guidelines the sharing of information to a friend would be a Breach of Confidentiality
3. Concerns which are raised by a service user are investigated at the time of the concern being raised and records of investigations and outcome are stored securely on site.
4. Gutters are due to be cleared in July 2018.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the smoking and cigarette ends on the site - as an organisation we are aware of this and have been addressing this on a daily basis with regular walk arounds and clean ups. However due to the nature of the service users we support this will be an ongoing problem due to their Neurological conditions and their levels of cognition.

Kind Regards

Registered Home Manager

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.973)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.973) out of 10 for Chase Park Neuro Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.873 for Chase Park Neuro Centre is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 63 Ratings = 4.873

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.1 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chase Park Neuro Centre is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
