Very kind and welcoming, always on hand to answer all your questions and worries, look after family members great, go above and beyond to make them comfortable. Lots of activities to keep them entertained, all get together having bingo, film nights and karaoke.
Very good at what they do.

My mother was a well cared for and well-liked resident.
She was very happy, despite her mental health diagnosis. Mam spent approximately 5-6 years in the care home. Mam's health deteriorated due to old age and she subsequently passed away in her own room (as per her wishes) on 28th May 2024. I have
nothing but praise for the manager and all staff who treated my mother and us with total dignity, compassion and kindness. Excellent care home.

I visit my sister every week she is well looked after and if I have any issues they are soon sorted but are very rare. She always looks clean and well-clothed.

Staff are always helpful and friendly. Manager has implemented a lot of useful strategies to help staff persuade reluctant residents to join in - my aunt was very reluctant but now appears more alert and willing to engage. Only downside is having to ring for entry to the home - very loud reverberating
sound - and always feel guilty, especially on weekends when no office staff in to open the door, as I am aware of how busy staff are - even having to search for staff to be let out again.

The home gives me peace of mind because I know my mum is being well cared for. Everyone involved gives 100% and genuinely enjoy their positions, whether they are caring for the residents or interacting with visitors.

Abbeyvale is a wonderful care centre, providing amazing opportunities for residents and family to participate in. Perfect setting for my mother-in-law, to ensure she is well looked after.
Lots of entertainment activities - recent Easter fayre was such good fun for all. The staff go overly above their
jobs to look well after the residents. Always keep the family up to date. Gives family peace of mind. Brilliant team. Don't know how we would cope without them.

My brother has been a resident since March 2022. He is so happy and well looked after. He is loved by the staff and now has another family that cares for him. I no longer worry about him I know he is safe.

The staff of Abbeyvale are wonderful, they all go out of their way to provide care and assistance to the residents of this care home. I would highly recommend this centre for anybody who has an older family member, and they are worried about them going into residential care. My mother spent the last
few years of her life at Abbeyvale, and she was happy and content, she used to praise the staff every time I visited her.

The word "Care" is fully understood here at Abbeyvale and carried out daily by all members of the team. The home, in my opinion, is of extremely good quality and the management and staff appear to really want to be there and do a great job. Food is not a problem either, they will make what a resident
wants as opposed to having to have what they are given. As we are some 12 months + down the line now, all in all, I would highly recommend this home if you find yourself having to make that difficult choice in life for a member of your family.
Our loved one is so happy to be here and thinks the place and the staff are "smashing", so that's good enough for us.
There is always a warm and friendly feel at Abbeyvale and from what we have seen is a lot better in every area than the previous home was.
Thank you all for your dedication, it means an awful lot to us as a family knowing our loved one is monitored, safe and at last finally "Happy and contented".

From my mother entering Abbeyvale until her passing, she was treated with nothing but kindness. Nothing was too much trouble, every one of the staff from the manager to the rest of the staff was like part of our family. We know if we were away she was well looked after. We as a family have nothing but
respect for the home and would recommend them to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.780)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.780) out of 10 for Abbeyvale Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.880 for Abbeyvale Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (97 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.88

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbeyvale Care Centre is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
