I am very pleased with the improvements with my mother. She has been out of bed and has her catheter out. This home is wonderful, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I couldn't thank them enough.

A huge thank you to the entertainment/activities team for organising a room and supplying the food for a small family gathering which meant mum could celebrate with dad on his birthday, something we haven't been able to do for quite a number of years. You went above and beyond to make this happen for
us, and we really do appreciate that so much, it was a perfect afternoon.

The bridge in the communication gap has been rectified. I'm more involved and carried along in the care of my uncle. Was pleased in the state I met my uncle when I visited unannounced. All my worries/concerns before this time were allayed in the family meeting I attended today. Is a very good forum
to get detailed information on happenings/future plans. Staff are very friendly/accommodating. I will recommend Albany Lodge Nursing Home to anyone with confidence.

I visited the home today the 16th of October 2022. I found my mother-in-law's bed sheets very dirty. I went to ask for a glass and the staff was sitting and chatting.
My husband went and requested for the sheets to be changed and a staff member changed the sheets which were very worn and yellow.
The
staff in this home needs to be more attentive and the bedding for this home needs to be updated.
How long would it have taken to change the sheets if we hadn't visited today?
Very poor. A real shame for the residents.

The home has purchased brand new bedding a few months ago and the Home Manager has personally gone to supervise to ensure all the new sheets are being used. It might be the case that there was still some old bedding rotating through the laundry and had not been disposed of for which we'd like to apologize. We would like to ensure you that the sheets are changed following bathing/showering and also as and when required.

I came to Albany Lodge after a hospital stay prior to a return home and had no idea what to expect. From the outset, all the staff at Albany Lodge - management, nursing, care, reception, housekeeping, and maintenance - have been truly excellent. They have all taken the time to get to know me and to
support me during a difficult period. They are keen to explore what I need and to provide it, whether that be croissants, emotional support, or a laugh and a joke. If you or a loved one needs residential care I can recommend Albany Lodge unreservedly. I will find it difficult to leave when the time comes.

Today was the first time I have been able to go inside, what a lovely surprise. The staff were all very friendly, the home was very clean. The lounge and bedroom, spacious. l must admit the outside does not do it justice. My mother in law seems very content and well looked after.

I am extremely happy with the service at Albany Lodge. The staff there are always so kind and helpful and take very good care of my grandmother by the looks of it. Her room is always kept quite tidy and you can see the staff work so hard in keeping their residents comfortable and safe.

My grandmother has been at Albany Lodge since 2020. At the home, I have found all the staff from the manager to the nursing staff, friendly, professional, kind, and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. They treat the residents and their families with respect. I often see the staff sitting with the
residents having a laugh and joke. The facilities are clean and well kept. My grandmother always looks clean and well presented. There is a great choice of meals provided. They are well presented and nutritious. I am 100% satisfied with her care.

Mum became a resident at Albany Lodge in March 2021 after a stay in hospital. Since she has been in Albany Lodge she has regained her old self. She is happy and content and always has praise for the staff and the way they attend to her personal and emotional needs. I also have noticed how attentive
they are to her needs. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

Level of hygiene care low - hair scalp scabs - lack of washing hair. Heals turned black. Toenails not cut. No coat/hat when leaving home to hospital. From home to ambulance no weather protection. No socks, no hat, no jacket! Wearing other people's clothes. Name tagged in his clothes, his clothes missing.
Underwear not his with holes. Embarrassed at hospital when undressing him. Nurses rude - not giving names when requested. Reading wrong medical records - missed care chiropodist because wrong medical records read!
Receptionist - English not first language - cannot understand me or them very, very very, frustrating. Messages not passed on. Callbacks not received cannot wait for him to be moved!

It always saddens us when a resident leaves us to live elsewhere, thinking we had built up a good relationship with relatives, only to find they were unhappy with the care provided. The issues outlined are not accurate but sadly this lady feels they are. We do our level best to ensure that all concerns are freely raised and dealt with in the best interest of the resident. It would not be realistic to say there are never any concerns in a 100 bedded home. We wish this resident all the very best in his new home.

My mother was a resident in Albany Lodge for five years, January 2016 - January 2021. Everybody at the home, from the manager, nursing staff, helpers, entertainment, hospitality, cleaning, reception, all really cared for my mum as though she was family. Whenever I turned up for a visit, I was made
welcome, and Mum was always clean and tidy, and her room immaculate. Every time she was wearing different, well-laundered clothes, and there were appointments for hair, opticians etc. There was even a well-kept garden for her to enjoy. Entertainment was regularly laid on, and Mum has taken to the restaurant and Lounge. Mum was 100 in 2020, and the staff laid on a special event for her and all the family. A cake was always baked and Happy Birthday sang by the staff on all occasions. The staff cared for her brilliantly and, when she died, they were as upset as we were. I would like to say a big thank you to everybody who made my Mum as comfortable as possible in her last years, still smiling.

Christmas and New Year was very difficult for us as a family not having Dad with us at home but knowing he was being well looked after and involved in the festive activities made this bearable. During these difficult times the staff at Albany Lodge are amazing especially the reception lady who understands
how upsetting being parted from a loved one can be. I want to thank the manager for running an amazing care home and for all the staff who are committed to looking after residents especially my dad in these troubling times.

I've been a qualified nurse for 6 years. I've spent time in previous care home roles, including Deputy Manager/Clinical Lead. Alongside this, I have worked in NHS hospitals in Accident & Emergency.


I've got a real passion for elderly care/dementia. I have been in and around care homes since I was really young, with my Mum being a home manager.


My Grandad had Lewy Body Dementia & Parkinson's and required support in a nursing home, so I am very aware of the stress that a resident’s family can have.


I aim for all our residents to be cared for in the way I would have liked my Grandad to be cared for. I use this as my daily motivation to ensure we deliver high-quality, person-centred care for all our residents here at Albany Lodge.

My name is Lea, and I work as a receptionist here, at Albany Lodge Nursing Home. Although I have only been with the team for four weeks, I have enjoyed working alongside such kind and lovely people each day. Meeting all our lovely residents is such a joy.


I have had a long career within the care sector for over 20 years. I started my career in 2003 as a health care assistant and then became a carer. I then went on to be an activities coordinator. I have worked and studied hard to work my way up the ranks, such as senior healthcare assistant, and then become a team leader.


After many years in different roles within the care sector, I became a receptionist/administrator, which I really enjoy.

I have worked in Albany Lodge Nursing Home for many years and the reason why I love it here is down to the camaraderie of my colleagues and residents alike. The home is warm and friendly, creating an amazing atmosphere for all that live and work here. My focus is on maintaining the hygiene of the home, keeping all areas clean and ensuring the well-being of residents and staff.

I take great pleasure in creating and presenting amazing dishes for our residents. The satisfaction I receive whenever I hear a resident say they enjoyed the food is indescribable. I believe that the way in which food is presented plays an essential part of the residents' health & well-being. With much confidence, I can say I love my job!
