Thank you for your lovely comments about our home, it is great to hear how happy you are with the care your parents are receiving at Avery Lodge. We take pride in the service that we offer, including our dining experience, so we are pleased that you find the food to be "very good" and we apologise for any occasions that dietary requirements have been missed. We track residents dietary requirements using ‘food passports’ which detail requirements, likes and dislikes. We have recently re-visited all of our food passports and have also purchased new menu boards which are located in the dining room and detail all elements of the meal, so that residents, where able to, can choose their own meat, vegetables and condiments. We hold monthly food committee meetings and conduct a ‘you said, we did’ where all aspects of food and service delivery can be discussed - all residents are invited to this.

I have fully investigated the issues and spoken to all of the team that works on Kensington.
Our protocol is to dispense medication in room order and have several residents that all need their medication at the same time and we do our utmost to ensure that it is administered as near to the time required as possible.
I have addressed all team members that work on Kensington and they are fully aware of the behaviour that is expected of them and as a result of your feedback have organised customer service training for some team members.
With regards to food, each time a resident is admitted they will complete a ‘food passport’, which will outline their food and beverage preferences and dislikes. We aim to meet the nutritional preferences of all residents by offering a combination of both traditional and current menu choices.
In addition, as part of the Care Assistant’s daily routine, they are allocated rooms to check. Due to no day being the same within the home, some days we are unable to complete room checks in the morning. This may have been the reason for the oversight of the water jug and unmade bed, I apologise for the inconvenience.

I have management qualifications and many years experience of in managing care homes before coming to Barchester. I enjoy building relationships with residents and their families, responding to individual care needs and reassuring relatives that their loved one is in good hands at Maple Leaf Lodge.
