This attractive and professionally managed care home rated ‘Outstanding’ in March 2020 by the Care Quality Commission, has been supporting the local communities of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire and Dacorum for over ten years. Established and purpose-built with an excellent reputation, St Pauls Care Centre offers quality nursing, residential, convalescent and dementia care in an accessible but peaceful location.

An award-winning home manager and deputy manager have been leading the home since the day it opened, and a stable and skilled staff team provide responsive, compassionate, high-quality care to meet the changing and individual needs and expectations of each resident. The home does not use any agency staff and new staff are often recruited through direct referrals. The family ethos and the warm relationships achieved are greatly valued by both residents and visitors, and make St Pauls Care Centre a special place to live. The home is strongly connected to the wider community.

Comfortable bedrooms have their own en-suite shower, toilet and washbasin and are located in smaller unit living areas. There is a wide choice of day rooms including lounges, separate dining areas, a cinema room, hair salon, quiet lounge, and pub.

The charming garden is a favourite with residents, with its spacious areas for them to relax or socialise with friends and relatives.

The facilities have been designed to enhance resident care and quality of life, to optimise cleanliness and help minimise the spread of any infections; this includes wood effect flooring, hand washing facilities in every room and the use of hand gel dispensers throughout the home.

My mother took up residence in St Paul's Care Center after a long spell in hospital. She was always cared for with kindness and consideration by all the staff, and although it would not have been her wish to be in a care home, she was unable to look after herself. Fortunately for her family, the staff
made sure St Paul's felt like her home until she passed away peacefully in their care.

My husband has been in St Pauls for nearly 4 years, during that time the family have been impressed with the care he has received. The staff are all wonderfully kind not only to my husband but the whole family. Although we see many sad things St Pauls is not a sad place. Thought and care have gone into
making it a good place to live.

I went into St Pauls care home to recuperate following a spell in hospital which had left me very weak. The staff were friendly and the nurses very attentive to my needs and although I didn't have an appetite, the chef produced some tempting food.
I had a pleasant ensuite room with a TV to watch if
I didn't wish to join other people in the lounge. I only spent a few days in the home before I felt fit enough to return home but would be quite happy to return there in the future should I need any type of care.

I have found the quality of care to be outstanding. The staff are warm, friendly and professional. It is very reassuring to me and my sister that mum is so well looked day and night. The care home is clean, fresh and modern and very welcoming to residents and visitors alike. Could not wish for a better

I have a relative resident at this care centre since November 2018.
The building and staff appear very good and fit for purpose. I am a little concerned about the provision of mental and physical stimulus for the residents. I appreciate the problems with limited mental capacity.
There seems to be
a lot of time set looking at the wall.

St Pauls has completely changed the quality of life for my mother. She is smiling, laughing and participating in activities. She loves her carers. She is eating well and has put on weight since moving here in April. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and caring to Mum and all of our family whenever

I am so pleased that my father is being cared for in this care home. Having nursing staff on hand all the time is so reassuring when I live so far away. The staff are unfailingly kind, both to residents and to family members. They are cheerful and they genuinely care about my father. I am amazed and

My mother was the original resident in St Pauls and was there for over nine years. For a number of years, care and staff were great but after the last good unit manager transferred to another floor care standards gradually declined. I would personally say that on that floor care became based around
staff wants and needs rather than resident wants and needs. I raised a number of issues both locally and with the head office which was always put down to "communication issues" and no actions or investigations would take place.
We have since moved my mother to another care home where she has more freedom to get about and they have taken her off of a pureed diet and she is much happier and more alert.

On the 1st of February, our father was admitted to your care home. The admission came at a time of great concern for our father and we were nervous about the care he would receive and how well he would cope with the fact he had entered into the final stages of his cancer.
From the very beginning,
we started to get a feeling that St Pauls Care Centre was going to be a good place for him and as a family, we could achieve a degree of respite from monitoring our father to ensure he was safe. The staff at your home do not simply just turn up for work, they give so much more. Our father received genuine concern for his welfare, fabulous attention and a demonstrable depth of feeling for his condition.
We have been humbled by just how much love and attention he received and wish to thank all those people that helped our father and touched us with their humanity.
Thank you St Pauls and thank you to all those who helped us and gave so much to our father in the last few weeks of life.

My mother recently passed away after being in the care of the staff at St Pauls for over 3 years. It was a pleasure to visit and see how the staff interacted with mum when she herself was unable to communicate with them. Mum delighted in the attention and care she received and would give beaming smiles
when a member of staff approached her. My elderly father would visit often and the staff were also particularly kind to him and would provide a meal if he was there over the lunch period.
My family all agree that Mum could not have received better care anywhere else. The staff were all professional, kind and very loving to all of us over the period Mum was in their care and were a great support to us all during her last days.

St Pauls is an incredible nursing home staffed by the most caring and professional staff. The care for my father-in-law was superb. The care for myself and the family was second to none - especially for our 2 school age daughters visiting Grandpa. Care was jointly managed with full open and honest communication
so the family was involved in every aspect at every stage. A happy loving place with high standards of nursing expertise too- we cannot thank you enough.

After spending 14 weeks in hospital, my sister-in-law has been at St Pauls Care Home for 12 weeks where she is thriving and very happy. Knowing she is well looked after and cared for by all the staff has given the family peace of mind.
From the minute you walk in the door at reception, St Pauls is
a very friendly care home. The staff are very efficient and friendly. They do their best to cater to all her needs and requests but most of all, they are all very kind.

Yasmin has been a dedicated member of St Paul’s Care Centre since 2011. In March 2021, she was promoted from Unit Manager to Deputy Manager. Having a diploma in Adult Health Nursing and Midwifery, Yasmin is committed to excellence and passionate about ensuring that St Paul’s delivers the highest standard of care to all residents. Yasmin was promoted to Home Manager in December 2024.
