I’ve been volunteering at Amy Woodgate since 2018 and have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff are attentive, the residents are happy and as a volunteer, I felt fully supported in my role by the staff. Overall, the home is lovely and I would be more than happy to send any of my loved ones
there.

Mum came to Amy Woodgate House in May from another care home. She has settled in really well. She has changed completely where they are interacting with her and recognises us so much more. They do lots of activities and the staff are always around to talk to. They keep us informed of everything that
is happening with mum. At the other place no communication at all. Very happy and would thoroughly recommend them.

My Aunt was in the home for some 6 years. The caring and nursing during her stay and at the end of her life was nothing but exceptional. I would highly recommend the home. The management and team were always happy to help and available. I can only thank them for looking after my Aunt so well.

Our mother was a resident at Amy Woodgate House where she was wonderfully cared for over 9 years before her death in 2014; during this time our father visited her every day. When the time came and our father could no longer remain safely living in his own home, we were also able to secure him a place
at Amy Woodgate. He was warmly welcomed in September 2020 and quickly settled. My sister and I were delighted that many of the staff who had cared for mum were still working at the home in 2020 and remembered dad.
Sadly our father passed away in November 2020. However, during his all too short time with them, he was treated with kindness, dignity, warmth and genuine affection. My sister and I will never forget the wonderful care provided by all the dedicated and professional staff at Amy Woodgate for both our parents, or the support we as family members received. We cannot thank them enough and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them to other prospective residents.

My friend for over 50 years went into Amy Woodgate House in 2016 and was there for 5 years. I visited her as often as I could and on every occasion found the staff welcoming and caring. My friend's room was always clean and tidy; there was a whiteboard in the room with her background (including her
acting career), her childhood and early life in India and other relevant details to help her remember. She would often say to me "I love my apartment but I have no idea who all these people are" (referring to other residents and staff). She often proposed putting in her own kitchen! My friend was always dressed with great care by the staff. She received tremendous personal care and attention and it was very obvious that she felt totally secure and at peace. On every visit I made, the staff, without exception, made me feel very welcome. I was always able to join her for a meal or afternoon tea. My sincere thanks to the manager and every staff member at Amy Woodgate House for their extraordinary care.

My sister and I want to express our thanks for the excellent care that Amy Woodgate provided for our mother for the last 9 years. During her entire stay, she was looked after by the compassionate staff who dealt with every stage of her gradual deterioration from dementia. Mum had a lovely sunny room
with an en-suite bathroom. We could visit without notice at any time, and there were particular occasions when the staff made efforts to support her, for example providing shopping trips and days out which were arranged in the early years of her illness. Also a few months before she died, they arranged a fantastic 95th birthday party, offering the use of the day centre so that her extended family could attend. Another example was when the staff enabled her to be involved with the "model shop” in the home, which gave her so much enjoyment. We have nothing but praise for the manager and her dedicated team and are so grateful for their kindness provided, right to the end of our mother’s life.

I cannot recommend Amy Woodgate House highly enough. My mother-in-law was a resident for three years, suffering from advanced Alzheimer's in her early 90s. She benefited immensely from the sincere love and genuine commitment shown by staff, who are well supported and trained by extremely efficient and
compassionate managers. Mum truly flourished and was genuinely happy, always treated as a respected individual. She felt secure due to the personal bonds with staff and nice personal touches, such as the provision of familiar items in her room and food that the kitchen knew she liked. She loved it when outside performers were brought in, and when cute animals were brought into the garden for summer parties. The standards of hygiene, accommodation and food were all excellent, and the provision of medical treatment was quick and efficient when required. As with any institution, though, it is ultimately the love of the staff that make all this work. Truly wonderful all round. Forever grateful.

My Mother passed away at Amy Woodgate House in April 2020 she had been a resident at the home for just under two years prior to which she had attended the day centre.
Mum had a lovely sunny room with en suite and windows looking out to the garden. We were made very welcome when Mum first moved in
and encouraged to customise her room with her own personal items. Her room was freshly painted and throughout her time at Amy Woodgate was kept spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the home and communal areas. Our family could visit without notice at most times of the day and during our visits could make ourselves feel at home, make tea/coffee, play music, all the things that make a visit homely for both us and Mum.
The management and staff went that extra mile to celebrate special occasions and put on activities. I have nothing but admiration for the dedicated staff who took the greatest of care with Mum right up to the end.

The care and attention shown to Mum has been exceptional. Throughout the years Mum was resident at Amy Woodgate I could not fault the management or staff. They showed care and support to Mum and to me and my family. They have always listened to my views and carefully considered Mums needs, responding
quickly and professionally. The facilities are spotlessly clean, the rooms are bright and airy, with lots of excellent activities for the residents. Everyone is respected and made to feel it is their home.
Nobody wants to be in a position to have to choose a care home, but I would not hesitate in recommending Amy Woodgate.

My Mother was resident here for the three years leading up to her death this month. She was extremely well cared for in a safe and caring environment. The building is modern and well designed for the needs of the residents. It is always immaculately clean. The meals are excellent and there is always
plenty of activities for the residents to be involved with. The staff are professional, caring and work extremely hard. They genuinely care about all the residents and their family and friends. All residents are treated with the utmost respect. There are 44 en suite bedrooms.

My mother spent at least 6 years in Amy Woodgate and from the beginning she was treated with dignity and respect, she was pampered by the staff and allowed to be herself. When we came to visit we always felt welcome and everyone was very hospitable.
A week before my mother died I came and stayed in
the home with her, I was so impressed by all the staff, especially my mums personal carers. I could not have asked for a better facility and thank all of them for looking after Mum in her final years of life. I rate Amy Woodgate 10 out of 10!

My mother was a resident at Amy Woodgate for approximately 3 years and enjoyed every second of being there. The staff were exceptional in the way they dealt with the residents "nothing was ever too much trouble", they were caring and extremely attentive. They took time to get to know the residents and
clearly interacted with them at all times.
My Mum being there gave myself and sister peace of mind in the knowledge she was being well cared for and above all very safe.
Their motto was " live for the moment".
Amy Woodgate provided my Mum with an extra 3 years of her life and perhaps the best last years of her life, she was never lonely she was very well fed and always smart and clean.
The staff showed extreme patience at all times even with some very difficult residents. They were all very warm, kind and welcoming.
Recently they have introduced a garden of remembrance, a thoughtful thing to have done. I am constantly telling people about Amy Woodgate and how brilliant it is.

My mother was a resident here for over 3 years and has recently just passed away. The care, compassion and dignity given to my mother during those years were excellent. The home is a specialist dementia care home. It was a very traumatic decision to place my mother into care, however knowing that she
was in a safe environment and would be looked after by caring staff made it easier to bear.
I would highly recommend this care home if your relative has dementia, the staff are well trained and all staff are attentive and supportive. There is an excellent manager and her team who are very responsive to requests. This is by far the best dementia home around for miles.

Right throughout, she enjoyed an excellent and dedicated service from all members of the staff led by the manager. They were extremely professional and equally dedicated

My father lived at Amy Woodgate House for just over 2 years, he originally went to their Day Centre, eventually becoming a resident. From his first minute until his last, the staff could not have been more caring, professional or compassionate. Everything you can think of or wish for is provided but
the other things they do are beyond anything you imagined - from spontaneous tea parties, through to organized events and so much more. The little things they do are huge and their impact wonderful. Everyone these days talks about patient centred care but until you have a loved one at Amy W you really haven't seen it in action and the difference it makes to the residents and their loved ones is incredible. The staff really do know and love their residents. The daily fun and laughter in this home is a tonic for everyone. The manager has a unique and inspirational magic wand and her entire team (cleaners, kitchen staff, carers, managers et al) are the fairy dust within it. This is a truly special home.

My mum passed away on the 22nd of March 2017 in her room at Amy Woodgate House where she had spent the past seven years. Her death was peaceful and I was able to be with her and was supported by all the staff on the unit. The staff of Amy Woodgate House over those 7 years met her needs as they increased
and provided a homely environment with high standards of care.

My father spent 3 wonderful years at Amy Woodgate with staff who were caring, considerate and understanding. He had dementia but had an excellent rapport with the staff, even more than he had with us. They understood his needs and strived hard to meet them. His unit had 12 residents and as such, missed
the magic number to have 3 staff instead of 2 which did overstretch the demands put upon staff. This was obvious in the evenings when 2 staff had to get residents ready for bedtime.


We visited him daily and left home feeling relieved that he was in good hands. Some staff reached 5* status and some less, but we accepted this. Our only disappointment was that he was not allowed to come back for his end of life care, even though it was for clearly for general support and no nursing interventions. He died sadly but peacefully in a new nursing home within 4 days of discharge. I am sure going back to his own familiar room would have made a difference to him in his last few days on this earth.
