On the whole, I am totally satisfied with the care and attention my husband gets. I have only given a four-star rating for care and support mainly because care staff can be lacking in the afternoon. With regard to food and drink, I have not seen what my husband eats but on request, he has had a sandwich
when he has not eaten his lunch. Always plenty of juice. He has not been able to take part in any activities. The care staff have worked hard, a few more might help the workload. Though after Covid all care homes are lacking in staff.

My mother has been a resident here for over five years now. During this time, I have always had an active role in my mother's care. In the last few years, to its detriment, Alton Manor has seen a continuous change in management and staff. Saying that my mother has always been well cared for and remains
happy. However, the last four to five months have seen a new manager instated, who brings a whole new dynamic to Alton Manor. Not only has the care home come alive, the residents have too! It's obvious the manager really does understand residents' needs and how to bring out the best in them. The staff are amazing, warm and welcoming and always have a smile. It's evident that they have taken time to get to know each resident individually, their likes and dislikes and are providing warm, friendly and personalised care to each and everyone. The manager and her team have moved mountains in the last few months! Keep up the good work! It's a pleasure to visit and feel part of the Alton Manor family.

My uncle was placed in this home. He was there for three weeks. It’s the worst experience he has ever had and at 91, I am saddened by the lack of care he received. On entry, he was left sitting in a chair between 1 pm and 5 pm. He should have been taken to his room and isolated. His room was a box
room of the worst kind. It took six days for them to sort his TV. He had a CDiff flare up and it took them six days to get his antibiotics despite me complaining. He has Fortisip as he has problems swallowing. They didn’t supply those until the day he left.
So three weeks without adequate nutrition and medication. He said he was hungry. Only one shower during his stay. His toilet wasn’t cleaned despite him having CDiff. His clothes were washed only once during his stay. His bed sheets were changed once.
Numerous problems with the manager. SS had to put safeguards in place. CQC involved. My uncle left on 31 August. I picked him up, he was dirty and smelt. He was in a fragile state. Avoid this home.

This review is extremely biased and not necessarily true. The room was chosen by the family. The service user was not left sitting for four hours. Upon arrival, he was welcomed into the Home and shown to his room. As for Fortisip drinks, these were last prescribed to the service user approximately eight months ago prior to him coming to the Home. There was no current prescription, hence the Home had to request and wait for the GP to issue a new prescription before any additional Fortisip drinks were available. This was explained to the family and the service user at the time. The service user was always offered a choice of foods. The room, the toilet and his clothes were cleaned daily and the bed sheets were cleaned regularly, as verified by our cleaning records. The service user was offered a shower daily but he refused and mostly chose to have a full body wash instead. It seems that whatever the Home did for the service user was not enough for the family. Some people are like that.

My very independent mother had to give up her flat as she had numerous falls. She has settled in so well at Alton Manor - in fact, she thinks she is staying at a 5-star hotel. I put this down to the kind, caring attitude of the staff - everyone I have met so far has just been super. I attribute this
to the Marton; she runs the home beautifully, and it filters down to all the staff. Mum is precious, and I'm so relieved that she is now safe and happy.

I found the care home and staff very nice. My mum was moved there until her own property became available. She is well looked after and settled, I feel that she is taken good care of and the staff very helpful.

This review is based purely on visits to my relative and taking her out for a few hours, on a fortnightly basis. Therefore, I cannot comment on the day to day running of the establishment. However, my relative seems to be very happy and settled. The staff met have been very good and do look after my
relative. The only criticism I have been made aware of is the food supplied is not varied a great deal and the portions have been on the small side.

Our Aunt has been at Alton Manor for four years and settled in very well. Very pleasant room and good caring staff and manager. Every time we visit she tells us "The foods good here". Staff always approachable and any concerns are always managed in a sympathetic caring way.

My mother has been living at Alton Manor for over five years and is happy and settled. Alton Manor is a smaller care home that manages to give excellent care while making it feel like a true home and community. All the staff are friendly, caring and helpful and are always around the residents ready
to help. I saw my mother for the first time after lockdown and she looked so happy and well, it is such a comfort to know that she has been so well cared for and protected throughout these difficult times. I keep thanking all the staff, I just hope they do know how much I appreciate them and all they do for Mum.

I would like to comment specifically on how well Alton Manor Care Home has dealt with the Coronavirus. They locked down very early on and this has kept the residents safe and well. We obviously have not been able to visit until now (4th August) when arrangements the home has put in place for controlled
visits by families to see their loved ones after the long isolation period fully reflect on the effective way we have found the care home to be run, i.e. caring, efficient and effective.
Our enquiries over this difficult period have always been answered quickly and fully and have provided great reassurance that my mother was in the safest place possible in the circumstances.
In the 6 months leading up to the lockdown we had seen a marked improvement in the general running, appearance and general atmosphere of the home and remain very happy with the choice of Alton Manor.

I find Alton Manor Care Home to be well run, the residents seem happy and the staff are efficient and helpful. My mother always looks well cared for and is content despite her ongoing medical issues. Other members of the family agree that we were very fortunate to have found such an ideal care home
and I would certainly recommend Alton Manor to others. There is a nice relaxed atmosphere and the staff work hard in what could be a challenging environment with kindness and respect towards the residents, nothing is too much trouble.
