My mum has lived at St Clare's for almost two years. From the first day she arrived there, she has been treated with great care, respect and love. The manager and deputy manager and their staff work tirelessly to ensure the residents' lives are as good as possible. People of differing needs live side
by side successfully.
St Clare's is so different than all the other places I visited when looking for a place for my mum. It's like coming into a beautiful country hotel with a calm, caring atmosphere.
Their Summer Fair is amazing and reflects the ethos of the place - so thoughtfully planned and safe yet fun with food, music, dancing, coconut shies, archery, tombolas, Punch and Judy and lots more.
Well done St Clare's!

All residents are acknowledged as individuals within a delightfully inclusive and caring environment. The individuals' wishes and privacy are respected. At the same time every effort is made to integrate residents and to create a happy community. Great effort is made by all staff to encourage and assist
residents to come together for all meals and to enjoy other activities.
Most staff appear to know the names of most residents and always try to communicate positively with individuals.
A system of staff teams and rotas works efficiently under guidance from senior management who manage to appear calm and relaxed. Visitors to St Clare's are presented with an impression of a 'happy family'.
Nursing care is excellent and referrals to doctors and other professionals very speedy if required. Communication with family members is efficient. Opinions and requests from family are taken into consideration and responded to efficiently.
A lovely setting.
I highly recommend St Clares.

Excellent care home. All the staff well trained with a good level of supervision. Everyone is very welcoming, including the kitchen and cleaning staff.
There need to be more activities as my mother spends too much time on her own in her room.

Over the past 12 years, my mother and 2 aunts have been residents here and I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful, loving care that the staff have shown my family. The staff always keep me well informed on the well being of my family which is especially important to me as I don't live in the
country.
St Clare's is like a home away from home in a safe environment and breathtaking surroundings which is wheelchair friendly. The residents are treated with great dignity. Visiting my family is always a happy time.

A lovely, caring home set in beautiful grounds. You get that feeling of visiting a hotel rather than a care home when you enter, it is the same. No hint of the "classic" UK care home.
Excellent staff, decor, cleanliness and amenities.

Mum has been resident at St Clare’s Care Home since December 2014. She is happy, contented and consistently well cared for by lovely, kind, compassionate staff and excellent management. Her care has been well adapted to her increasing needs, both in terms of her confusion and as she went from being
very active to wheelchair bound following a stroke. The atmosphere is light, airy and sweet smelling, with plenty of sitting areas to choose from and St George’s Park is delightful. Even in the wheelchair, she occasionally takes a trip in the minibus. As her faith is important to her, the nuns visit often and bring her Communion. Each time I visit I am humbled by the kindness and attentiveness of the staff and very grateful to have found this wonderful community at St Clare’s for Mum. I recommend them highly.

St Clare's looked after my Mum for 3.5 years from March 2013. She passed away a few weeks ago, but in that 3.5 years they looked after Mum brilliantly and managed her many problems from Parkinsons to Dementia with much kindness and love which made it so much easier for the rest of the family. I can't
recommend them highly enough.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.354)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.354) out of 10 for St Clare's Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.437 for St Clare's Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.437

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.917 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Clare's Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.417

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
