My mum is at the stage where she can no longer stay at home herself. Renfrew is a care home close to where she had lived for most of the last 55 years so we were keen to view it. From the first visit, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff came through strongly. The room that my mum has been
in for the last 3 or 4 months is secure, comfortable and is getting more personalised with time. Mum is in a much safer environment now and that makes everyone, including herself, more relaxed and able to enjoy the good bits of life with less worry.

Honestly, I can't really fault the care home at all from the beginning dealing with the care manager who was very professional and provided immediate care for mum, to the staff, the centre, they worked so hard to keep my mum where she is and now my mum is fairly settled.
I have only rated good as I
am not there all the time, but what from I see I can't complain.
The staff do a great job.

My father was placed within this care home for 6 months. The home is poorly run and the staff are shouty, rude and inexperienced. Experience with dementia is zero. Handovers between staff are non-existent, there are no qualified nurses on hand and other users personal notes were placed in my father's
care notes in error. The gardens are locked and activities to stimulate are non-existent. I would avoid this care home at all costs.

Reply from Mary Allan, Manager of Care Home and Day Care Services at Renfrew Care Home

We are sorry to hear that this has been your experience but we do feel this does not reflect the positive stay that residents at Renfrew Care Home have. We do try to resolve any concerns that families raise with us and tailor our care accordingly. At times due to individual support needs access to the garden can be restricted but we try to minimise the disruption this would have to a resident or their family. The Home is rated "Good" by the Care Inspectorate and has a strong history of engaging with families and residents. Our staff are all trained to a high standard and this is regulated by the Scottish Social Services Council.
