Very friendly staff, maybe a bit better communication when passing on information from family. Rooms could do with a bit more frequent cleaning, as a family member on visiting our mam have noticed very little crockery and utensils for visitors to make a drink but overall, mam is very happy and content
and the staff treat her with love and respect.

Reply from Cassie Schofield, Head Office Admin at Park View

Thank you for your feedback and we are so happy your mum is settled and well cared for at Park View. Thank you for the lovely comments about the staff team and we will ensure this is shared. We are always working to improve communication and take your feedback onboard and we are always replenishing crockery and cutlery but will ensure that stock levels are checked more frequently to prevent this from happening again.

I'm happy that my mum is at Park View and feel confident that she is as safe, well cared for and as happy as she can be. The daytime staff are wonderful - they're caring and kind and not only with the residents but also with families and friends. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend PV.

The focus of all of the staff is the residents. The care and attention given to my mum is excellent and gives me a reassurance that she's being well looked after. She has told me that she feels secure and her needs are being well catered for. She receives constant reassurance and encouragement as she
is frail and nervous. The staff do go the extra mile to ensure she feels safe at all times. Food quality is excellent too.
The atmosphere in the home is always warm and welcoming.

Each visit we are made welcome and we are always asked if we would like a cup of tea which is also nice. The care, effort, time, and love each carer shows to each resident is absolutely lovely to see each time we visit. Grandma also has lush little bonds with the carers which is also heartwarming. We
couldn't thank the staff and carers enough who go above and beyond for not only our grandma but every other resident too. Thank you for having huge hearts and loving our grandma the way you all do, it never goes unnoticed. Grandma is so happy and always clean and dressed beautifully, and always smiling which makes us happy. To each of the carers and staff at Park View "thank you so very much for everything."

I'd not been able to visit for a long time after moving away. I visited and was so happy with all aspects of the home. It was really clean with a very inviting welcome. Gran was so happy and enjoys all of the activities, especially the singing and dancing.
One member of staff, in particular, was brilliant
- a credit to the staff (who are all lovely).

My Grandma has been in Park View care home for about five years now. In that time I have seen the staff and carers go above and beyond every day to make sure she is comfortable.
The home is very clean and so much effort is put in to make the place look and feel homey. The staff go to great lengths
to decorate at holiday times, everything they do is for the benefit of the residents. Over time my Grandma's needs have changed and so the staff have done everything possible to make sure she is comfortable at every stage.

I can say that Park View care home is one of the best care homes in the North East, not just because they run it so well, but because each member of staff genuinely cares for every resident. They do more than their jobs worth every day and I am so thankful for every member of the team .

Only been connected with the home for a short time. Our relative has been made to feel safe and cared for. Staff are friendly, the home is nice and clean, rooms are a good size.
Staff have been very helpful and supportive at what is a difficult time.
Not been able to comment on food facilities or
value for money as we have not enough knowledge of this but if the general appearance of the home and first impression is anything to go by, I'm sure they are good too.

My mum is having emergency respite care after her extensive operation. We were worried about mum’s transition from home to hospital then onto respite. But this worry is not an issue any more as Park View has been outstanding in all areas of my mum’s daily needs. The staff on all levels are unbelievable
they offer such empathy and show mum so much respect. The rooms are welcoming, clean, spacious and offer the privacy mum needs at times. The staff are so friendly and attentive they go well above their daily duties. I feel activities provided on a daily basis is wonderful offering that social engagement which has made mums low moods at times enlightened. It feels a safe haven offering that reassurance to us all that mum's daily needs are being met. They take care of medication, phoning GP, Laundry service, spacious environment outdoor access. The meals are home-cooked to a very high standard offering a range of good choice to which my mum has put on weight!
Outstanding Care Home.

My mum has been staying at Park View for the past month. She's been hugely independent for a young girl in her 90's until quite recently!
Park View was recommended to us by a regular visitor to care homes in the area and after our own visits, we were delighted with not just the facilities but the care
shown to residents and visitors alike.
My mum's life has changed but now she is in a friendly safe and caring environment and is laughing again. She has settled in far better than I could ever have expected and this can only be down to the terrific care shown by the manager and her team.

I have found Park View very professional and caring towards my mother.
They have encouraged, looked after and entertained her and I have seen a huge change in her behaviour, she seemed to be walking better, smiling more and generally seems to be very happy.
The staff are always friendly and always
willing to help, which is a comfort when you are the family of a resident.

On a recent visit to Park View when picking up my aunty for a hospital appointment, I was touched to find a few staff and many of the residents gathered around in the 1st-floor lounge room.
Everyone was involved and giving words of encouragement to one of the carers who was bravely having all her beautiful
hair cut off to help raise money for a 'Train Simulator' which will benefit many Park View residents.
A truly selfless act from one of the many caring and dedicated staff at Park View.

My mother was placed in Park View care home with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. She was unsettled at first, however, the staff went over and above in their efforts to care for her and make her remaining time a happy - safe and caring encounter.
All staff really friendly and professional in their

Ma was a Park View resident for six years. We could not have found a better place for her. She was treated with respect, her dignity was maintained and she was loved. As a family, we received great support from all the staff who became our friends. We have trust in them and, if and when another family
requires care, then Park View will be our first choice.

We have just returned from the funeral of our dear aunt who had been a resident of Park View for the past 12 months. Before arriving, she had been through a turbulent time health wise and needed the stability and care levels that Park View offered. She had always been resistant to moving into a care
home but the minute she arrived she was instantly settled and it was clear she would be right at home. The staff of Park View have displayed exceptional levels of care and love for my great aunt and right up to the end when her health deteriorated within a week, they were happy to accept her back for palliative care to ensure her last days were comfortable in familiar surroundings. She didn't make it back unfortunately but even after her passing, Park View today have been hospitable and compassionate by allowing her funeral cortege to leave from the home and hosting a wonderful wake in her honour that she would have been proud of. Cannot recommend this place enough. Truly outstanding.

The home is well run, we enjoy visiting nanna when we attend the playgroup on a Wednesday and we enjoy meeting the other residents. The staff are all lovely and the home is clean. The room nanna is in is nice plenty of space for what she needs and for when we visit with the kids (her great-grandchildren)

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.627)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.627) out of 10 for Park View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.389 for Park View is calculated as follows: ( (54 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.389

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.238 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Park View is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.538

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Amy began working in care in 2015. From the beginning with no care experience, she spent a year out in the community and realised that caring for those in need had quickly become a passion and something that she wanted to do as a career. Amy decided to move into a residential setting and joined St Martins Care at its Park View care home and she has not looked back since. Amy’s first role was as a care assistant. Staring with no qualifications, she was supported by St Martins Care and soon obtained her NVQ Level 2. Straight away, Amy began studying for her NVQ Level 3, which has enabled her to progress in her career quickly. Amy says: “I always knew that I wanted to achieve more. I’m so pleased that my skills and ambitions were recognised and that I was able to progress, firstly as an acting senior before being promoted to senior care assistant. Being able to make a difference in the lives of those who require 24-hour support and even re-enabling those to return home is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do”. Amy is now the deputy manager of Park View and she is grateful to have been given this opportunity. Amy adds: “The whole team at Park View is fantastic and we are one big family, with the residents being at the heart of it. I am proud to be part of St Martins Care and look forward to what the future brings for us at Park View”.
