Capel Grange is Linc Care’s first purpose-built community nursing home in Newport. It opened in 2009 and provides high-quality person-centred care. Situated next to one of their Extra Care Schemes, this home provides nursing care for 72 people with a variety of care and physical needs including dementia and end of life care.

All of the bedrooms are spacious and en-suite designed around the people who live in the home. There are five separate communities each with their own lounge and dining areas. On the ground floor, there is a lounge and dining area leading to a conservatory and access to the enclosed landscaped garden.

Each area has complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and they encourage friends and family to enjoy refreshments together just as if it were happening in a person’s own home. BBQs and picnics are held in the garden which is secluded, safe and pleasant to sit in. There is a hair salon and a room for films or watching special sporting or social occasions.

Registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CIW), Capel Grange provides the highest standards of accommodation and person-centred care, with highly experienced Registered Nurses and Care Assistants providing 24-hour support. The whole building exceeds CSSIW requirements with bigger bedrooms, wider corridors, spacious lounges and a high staff to residents ratio.

Owned and operated by Linc Care, the team at Capel Grange recognises that every resident is different, so each person has a unique care plan designed just for them, encompassing both care requirements and personal preference.

Capel Grange is one of only three nursing homes in Wales to be named on the Eden Alternative UK Register of Homes. The Eden Alternative is a care philosophy centred around 10 core principles designed to empower elders to live as full a life as possible.

  • The home is open 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week, it is a secured establishment with a fob access. No restrictions for visitation at the moment. Visiting individual should log in and out into the sign in app, to capture the individuals who are in the building.

  • Capel Grange has a shared car park with Capel Court Extra Care scheme. Across the car park there are approximately 45 parking spaces available to be used. Please do not park in the yellow boxes as these are used for deliveries and emergency vehicles. There is no allocated parking at Capel Grange, all spaces are available to be used. The car park is flat, well lit and covered by Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) the car park is regularly cleaned and maintained. Please note that there is on road parking available on Capel Crescent if the car park is full.

Although my mother was in the home for a short period, her fear of being in a care home soon vanished. Mum and the family found the home to be excellent in all aspects. The care staff were particularly brilliant and they looked after Mum with love, care and compassion.
The standards of the facilities
and food were the best we could have imagined.

They seem to be very attentive. There are two problems, my husband sometimes does not have a bath. When the patient officer came she said he must have two a week at least. It has only been since then that he has had a bath once or twice not every week as promised. He does have a shower sat in the chair
under it but he can't wash most important parts. The carers do not attend to him when he wants the toilet as they have to see to others and it appears they are always too busy.

Our staffing ratios are the highest in the area with 4 carers and 1 nurse for every 15 people. We aim to get to everyone as soon as and as quickly as we can. Following our discussion with you we now understand that the delay in attending to your husband was a one off incident and you are happy with the arrangements we have in place.

Since my husband has been a residents of Capel Grange he has received excellent care form the nurses and carers, also the staff on all levels. It was a difficult decision for us the family, to have to put my husband into a nursing home. So when I leave him each day, after visiting, I know he's being
looked after properly. It's like a home from home, like I tell them one big family!!I thank them for their continued care! Always!

My mother has been a resident at Capel Grange for 17 months. During this time she has moved from a general nursing unit to an EMI unit. On each unit my Mother has always been treated with the dignity and respect she so rightly deserves. I and members of my family are always treated with respect and
if ever I have had any issue then it is promptly sorted. It is reassuring that Mum is being well cared for as it can be upsetting to see her with the Alzheimer's disease she has.

My mother and father were resident at Capel Grange since 2010. My father passed away in their care in 2011 but my mother still resides at the nursing home. My parents had previously been resident at another establishment where I was very unhappy with their care. This home has since closed.
Capel Grange
is in my opinion one of the best nursing homes in Wales. It is clean, well designed accommodation with open light spaces. The rooms are spacious and airy all with ensuite facilities. The staff are well managed, professional and effective. The units operate with same staff teams who work on a rota basis. Food is good and plentiful. Activities co-ordinators provide activities 5 days a week.
If you are reading this with the unhappy task of finding nursing accommodation for a loved one, I recommend Capel Grange without reservation. The staff are happy to show you around if you visit.
