Newly refurbished, The Springs provides both short and long term care for people living with dementia. Its team of highly trained staff includes registered nurses and carers who have undergone extensive training in dementia care and support.

The home has been designed to ensure residents with dementia can live well and includes features such as reminiscence areas and eye-catching pictures to help residents orientate their way around the home. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, underfloor heating and a flat screen television.

A wide variety of flavoursome, balanced meals are on offer and there is always a cold option available. Afternoon tea usually includes a homemade cake and hot and cold beverages are always available.

Great importance is placed on ensuring residents receive regular stimulation through participation in activities and there is a full programme of entertainment and outings.

Lovely site, very clean and bright. Staff are helpful and polite. The site is managed by a very competent and approachable lady who was very informative and inspired confidence. I can only fill this review as a family of a resident but always felt confident in the care and information given.

Our father has been in the unit for well over a year and has been shown great care and respect.
Everyone works really hard to take care of his needs and make him as comfortable as possible; he looks forward to his meal times and the facilities are excellent from the dining room lounge and his own ensuite
room.
Communication from the staff is just right, and they do all they can to provide the best for his well being.
My Brother and I are grateful to the staff for all their hard work. It’s hard to imagine him receiving better care anywhere else.

This is an excellent care home each time I go to visit my dear friend who is on the priory floor. I find it a very happy place, the staff even under pressure are all happy and get on with everyone! It’s a pleasure to go in there on a visit. The food looks appetizing, the kitchen staff are amazing, and
cook some wonderful recipes for the residents! I would definitely recommend this home to anyone who would need a good care home for one of there relatives or friends. Definitely worth 5-star rating!

From the moment my aunt went to The Springs, the staff made her stay as good as they could. They were kind and attentive. As she became frailer, the chef rang me to ask how he could tempt her to eat more. All staff went out of their way to help her.

During the last 5 months when my stepfather lived at The Springs he was very well looked after. During his final days, the staff looked after him with such care. Their kindness and understanding made the journey more bearable and we are very grateful.

The Springs Care Home looked after my mum with great dignity and care whilst she stayed there. We were very pleased with the compassion shown to my mum and the lengths they went to, in caring for her. We are so pleased, we moved her to a sister home, to be closer to us.

Mum is doing OK thanks to the care and support of those around her. My only real concern is the lack of consistent social contact. I know she doesn't like to mix with the other residents but, she is frequently alone in her room when I arrive for a visit.

My Mother in Law has been in Bupa Malvern for over 3 years. It is a very friendly caring and clean home. She is well cared for and is very happy there. Both myself and my husband are very happy with the staff and management and find it a very well run home.

I came into visit with some clothes and collect washing. It was 10.45am. My husband was still in bed! The TV was on but he could not see it as he was horizontal and not wearing his glasses. I was told that he was asleep when they came to get him up. But that was no excuse as it would have been better
for him to have breakfast in the dining room. After I made him more comfortable, the nurse came in to give his tablets. It appears I need to send 7 pairs of trousers/pyjamas as whoever washes my husband puts the daily clothes straight into the wash bag! This is not acceptable, only if they are soiled.

My wife has been a resident at The Springs Care Home for over 3 years. During her stay, she has always received exemplary care from all the staff involved.
The premises would benefit from a programme of continued redecoration as many areas both public and bedrooms are showing signs of wear and tear.
Also, the underfloor heating is (so I am told) controlled from Leeds and this does lead to excessive temperatures in the summer months with no local adjustment being possible.
The points I have made can easily be rectified. Otherwise, an excellent home.

My dad arrived in the home in July he transferred from Yorkshire to be near his family. He couldn't walk at all and had lost a lot of weight. He was made to feel welcome within three weeks my dad was eating much better and walking with a frame and singing and dancing to the entertainment. The staff
are excellent on Morgon Floor I can't thank them enough.

It is difficult when people's freedom is taken away. The staff have allowed my wife to be involved to the point she will not feel that restricted so that it feels good.

Our newly refurbished purpose built home welcomes anyone living with dementia, whether they need residential or nursing care - long or short term. All of our rooms are tastefully decorated, have their own television, en-suite bathroom and a 24-hour call system. We also encourage residents to personalise their bedrooms with their favourite ornaments and pictures.

Maria

Maria Willis

Job Title: Home Manager

I have been a home manager for over 12 years. I am a registered nurse and have been for nearly 20 years, firstly working in the NHS as a band 5 nurse progressing to ward sister. I left the NHS in 2010 to work in my first care home, progressed very quickly to unit lead and then deputy manager, taking on my first home manager role in 2011 for Bupa. I have had regional roles within the sector, supporting other home managers and improving the quality of care.


I love working in care services as the difference we can make to people’s lives is massive; we are so privileged to help to enhance resident’s lives, and that of their families and friends, too.


Every day is different; being a part of such a fantastic team is so rewarding, with our combined goal to make a difference to those that we care for.


I am married with 2 grown-up children, I have 2 wonderful step-grandchildren and a new baby granddaughter. My family are my world; I love nothing more than everyone coming to our house for a get-together. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, especially whilst sat on a sunbed in the sunshine on holiday!

During my work experience week at school, I went to the ALEX (Redditch Acute Hospital) and worked on one of the wards for the week. In that week I knew I would always work within the care sector and I have ever since. I started as a care assistant within a nursing home and then became a field care manager in domiciliary care. I thoroughly loved working in a nursing home as a care assistant and knew that was the area of the care sector that I wanted to work in. However, I needed to go away and gain more experience and knowledge first so I could complete the role not only effectively but to a high standard - I completed my nurse training, working as a care assistant.


Once qualified, I made the move to the acute setting to gain more experience. During my time in the NHS, I became a sister in both urgent care and HDU. I also completed my bleep training for Worcestershire Acute Trust and regularly had the bleep over the weekends. The bleep is the clinical site lead, so I would be in charge of the clinical side of the whole of Alexandra Hospital. I enjoyed my time within the acute setting but felt I had gained the experience and knowledge I needed to form a strong base to continue my career within the primary sector and more specifically within a nursing home. I love many aspects of working within care services, but I would say one of my favourite aspects would have to be listening to other people's stories and life experiences.


In my spare time, one of my main hobbies would have to be showing my dogs, we have had the pleasure of running around the green carpets of crafts every year since I started showing. My dogs and horses take up the majority of my free time!

I have worked for Bupa for nearly 5 and a half years and have always worked in the hospitality industry.


I enjoy working in care services as every day is different here - seeing the residents enjoying their food and living a better, longer and healthier life is so rewarding.


I love spending my spare time in the garden growing all sorts of fruit, vegetables and flowers, I also enjoy watching my football team play and holidays in Spain with my wife.
