I have been bowled over by the commitment and care the staff have given to my Mum during the coronavirus crisis. Even going out of their way to organise weekly FaceTime calls so that Mum and I could easily keep up regular contact and ’see’ each other. Nothing has been too much trouble and the staff
haven't complained despite being in such a challenging situation themselves. They have taken great care with safety procedures and shown a lot of patience and resilience from day one. I am full of respect and gratitude. Thank you!

My newly widowed aunt moved to Sunrise in June 2019. From the start all staff were kind and caring, taking a real interest in getting to know her. The accommodation, food and activities are wonderful and really helped her to settle. She was able to create a home from home in her room, with her own
furniture and pictures.
She thoroughly enjoyed all the activities, outings, flower arranging, visits from singers, school children, animals - it all made for an interesting and varied life. The family visited often and were always welcomed warmly. The Bistro's endless supply of tea, coffee, homemade cakes is a wonderful place to meet up.
During the current situation, Sunrise was well prepared. The staff have gone above and beyond in caring for the residents - taking a mobile phone to the room so that we could see each other totally amazed my aunt!
Sadly, she passed away last month, but it helps us to know that she was very well cared for and that staff she knew were with her.

Sunrise of Winchester has been home for my parents for the last 5 years, until that point they had lived a happy independent life of retirement. We selected Sunrise of Winchester because the senior team were reassuring and addressed our concerns and worries for this rapid change of lifestyle.
Five
years later some of the staff have changed, but the level of support and dignity given, has not. The nursing care has been on the whole excellent and the close proximity to a very good medical practice as well as nearby hospitals means there is strong all round support.
The food has been consistently good to excellent. Menus with wine are varied and interesting, this is not institutionalised food. Afternoon tea and homemade cakes and pastries in the Bistro are legendary.
The activities team are superb, endless patience and creativity.
The facilities and gardens are very well maintained, no nasty institutional odours here!
Sunrise of Winchester has delivered for us.

Over the period that my father was under the care of Sunrise Winchester, I consider that I came to greatly admire all staff members of this community. Their hard work and dedication and approachable, patient, unflappable manner and professionalism meant that I had no need to be anxious about this not
being the right place for him in his twilight years. It took him a while to settle but he was gently encouraged to participate in activities around the community; little by little he came out of his shell and with their help began to join in and assert himself. Progressively, as his health altered, I felt that he was getting all the appropriate care that he needed and furthermore that the staff were with us every step of the way as his end approached and his treatment plan was altered accordingly. I feel (as I know my sister does also) that Sunrise Winchester became part of our extended family and consequently, I hold them in much respect for the warmth and care shown to my father.

My father spent his last 2 and a half years in both Assisted Living and Reminiscence and my mother was also at Sunrise for her last 4 and a half years, some time ago. The team provided outstanding care for both of them and unfailing support for our family. The facilities, garden, food and activities
are excellent, especially the bistro which we all enjoyed. The culture is one of respect, dignity and kindness and staff stay a long time and get to know the residents well. I will never forget the tenderness and compassion with which my father was always treated by the dedicated nurses and carers, especially during his last days in April 2020, when exemplary care ensured he was as peaceful and comfortable as possible. My daughter and I were also incredibly well supported by the staff during this difficult time and we have always felt part of Sunrise, being warmly welcomed whenever we visited. Huge thanks to all the team from our family, you are truly amazing in your kindness and dedication.

The staff at Sunrise of Winchester have been fantastic throughout the current COVID-19 crisis. It must've been a very difficult time for them but they always seem to be putting residents' care first and ensuring that relatives are kept informed of how their nearest and dearest are getting on. What's
more, they all seem to be managing to stay cheerful - or at least to make us feel they are - which must be reassuring for residents. Every time we 'phone to check on Dad we get all the information we need. It's worth mentioning that it's not just the carers who are doing a great job. The staff on the 'phone at reception are very welcoming and whoever's been in charge of ordering supplies of PPE also seems to have done a great job in securing what's needed by the staff. All-in-all we couldn't have been happier with, or more reassured by, the way this terrible situation has been handled by all concerned. Sincere thanks to everyone.

My mother lived in North Wales and wanted to be close to us so we did quite a bit of shopping around with her. After a lot of searching, we found Sunrise. Although it's as true to say that Sunrise found us, as they sent a rep to her home to assess her needs first. I was initially shocked at the cost,
until I made some comparisons and found the quality of care, facilities and activities were just right for her.
She loved her room, the staff and joining in the social activities at Sunrise and, after three months of settling in, she was referring to it as 'home'. Of course, the frequent family visits helped and one of the great things about Sunrise - for friends and family - is the 'Bistro' where we can chat and have a cuppa in convivial surroundings.
During her time at Sunrise, my mother's health declined but her mind and spirit remained strong and she received the best of care, at every stage of her life, during her residence.

Since moving to Sunrise Winchester in December 2019, the care my parents have received has been of an extremely high level. They were made to feel welcome and settled in well. Even faced with the current challenging times, Sunrise has continued to provide fantastic care and have found ways of keeping
in touch with the family regularly which has been really important. The food is lovely and the surroundings extremely peaceful.
I really appreciate the time and effort all the staff continue to make, enabling my parents to live in a lovely environment. Thank you.

We cannot thank everyone at Sunrise enough - you are true rays of joy and sunshine and have made coping with our current challenging climate easier and calmer than it otherwise might have been. There hasn't been a day since the onset of Coronavirus when I haven't thanked my lucky stars that Mum and
Dad are safely tucked up with you, cocooned in a cosy nest of kindness. We are all so happy to be part of your family and we feel so privileged to have found you so we can all enjoy this senior stage of living. Every phase of this immensely difficult lockdown process has been handled with such care and professionalism, we haven't felt insecure for one moment and we sleep well knowing that the best possible solutions have been applied and shared with us, to keep us all safe. It's such a bizarre time for everyone and we wholeheartedly recognise how far above and beyond you all go for us all and we can't thank and praise you enough. The care provided at Sunrise is always of the highest order. Residents are treated with respect and dignity. In the almost six years my mother (and previously my father) have lived there, I have never heard a voice raised or a cross word spoken. Difficult situations, whether relating to one resident
or the whole establishment, are handled with professionalism and compassion. Without exception, the staff are kind, caring and professional. I sleep easy knowing that my mother is well cared for at all times.
In the current climate, Sunrise is doing whatever it can to keep residents safe. I have total confidence in them.

I have only good things to say about Sunrise in Winchester. Although my father-in-law was only resident with them for eight months, during his stay he was very much at home. All the staff were extremely friendly and caring, nothing was too much trouble. He enjoyed his meals in the lovely dining room
and having a good chat with his friends. When the weather allowed it he would also take time to sit in the beautiful gardens. There was always something interesting or fun going on for all the residents. I really can’t praise it enough.

I have found every single member of staff at Sunrise Winchester to be helpful, caring, and professional. When not in lockdown, the whole place has a wonderful, contented vibe to it which is due to the diligence and positivity of the staff. In lockdown, the staff is working hard in the face of adversity,
but I do perhaps wish that they had been more on the front foot with keeping me in touch with what’s going, particularly initially. Latterly they have been better at this.

This review covers the period of the last 10 weeks that my Mother has been in Reminiscence.
My Mother (who has Alzheimer's) was previously in the Assisted Living area at Sunrise, Winchester, but was struggling to cope and needed a higher level of care going forward. We spent quite some time looking
around Reminiscence with the General Manager and the Reminiscence Manager, who were very helpful and answered all our questions. We arranged my Mum's move at short notice and we took Mum out while the staff transferred her things to her new room. They did a fantastic job and the new room was made very cozy. They even hung the pictures as before and Mum settled really quickly.
Since then Mum has thrived in her new environment and this is due in no small part to the increased level of care and the friendly, efficient, kind and dedicated staff, who have had to work in such difficult circumstances with the pandemic.
Really well done everybody. I highly recommend your excellent service.

Sunrise is very clean and beautifully furnished. The staff are kind and helpful. My sister in law is on Reminiscence floor (2). The entertainment staff are very good, doing many different things with their patients. My sister in law is very fond of a particular member of staff who is very kind to her.

The workers are all very kind and make you feel comfortable. The food is very good and nice to dine with others. There are plenty of activities arranged each day and you have the opportunity to join in if you wish. It is nice to have coffee and tea available for visitors and different places to sit
and chat. The staff are always ready to help you and always have a smile.

This work gives me immense fulfilment and a true sense of purpose.
