Set in the midst of the Shropshire Hills, Stretton Hall Nursing Home is just a short drive from Church Stretton, also known as 'Little Switzerland'. It has 50 elegantly decorated bedrooms, a cinema room and a vintage tea-room.

It's the perfect place for a short respite stay as well as very specialist care. It's Garden Suite brings to life Morris Care's Cedar Philosophy, a pioneering approach to dementia care.

The 18th-century hall has been sympathetically restored and redeveloped to create luxuriously appointed bedrooms all with en-suite facilities and state of the art equipment. The bedrooms are spacious and many overlook the beautiful Shropshire countryside.

Social wellbeing plays a huge part in the care provided at Stretton Hall. Its enthusiastic and committed social life coordinator, dedicates time to ensuring residents and visitors have a diverse and exciting activity schedule to enjoy.

From visits to the local Yew Tree Pub and in-house ‘Ritz inspired’ afternoon teas, to visits from lambs at Easter and regular creative visitors including bell ringers and singers, there is something for everyone to get involved with.

Social interaction and activities like these are all aimed at stimulating the mind, combating loneliness and unlocking residents’ fond memories.

My mum used the service after a fall and a very rapid decline in her health. She was always well cared for and found clean. Attempts were made to involve her more, but she was unable to join in the activities. Once used to the best times to contact the home, we, the family, were able to find out about
her more. She was safe and well looked after.

From the outset, I was med to feel welcome. The staff were outgoing and attentive, and I appreciated their care. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Their efficiency was there at every level, but it is administering medication or presenting the menu. Having had little appetite for food in the hospital,
the catering team offered a splendid choice of meals. Staff found time to chat besides doing their duty. This even extended to my visitors. All in all, I felt secure and well looked after.

Mum was at Stretton Hall for the last seven months of her life. Both Mum and the family were overjoyed to find a nursing home that was able to give Mum such wonderful care, kindness and respect.
She enjoyed chats with the staff and really embraced the activities on offer; she was able to have lunch
and coffee mornings with other residents as well as attend the Knit and Natter group, which helped enormously as she really did love to socialise and that was an important part of her stay.
Her early morning cups of tea were also a big part of being made to feel at home, and the staff were so obliging and really took on board any special requests, like afternoon birthday tea in the lounge and the ability to bring our dog to see Mum.
We really cannot speak highly enough of all the team; each and every one made Mum's final months the best they could have been; thank you.

The care that my dad receives at Stretton Hall is outstanding. From the moment I (quite literally) walked in off the hills on the spur of the moment to ask the administrator a thousand questions about care homes, knowing that my dad needed care, Stretton Hall has made me feel welcome - their ethos that
relatives are part of the Stretton Hall family too really shines through. My dad is beautifully looked after, well fed, and has a lovely, peaceful room in the Garden Suite (for residents with dementia). Stretton Hall is excellent at keeping us informed, and any concerns that I have about my dad's changing health are always responded to quickly and have invariably already been spotted and addressed. The activities at Stretton Hall are varied and enjoyable, and my dad especially loves the music. But the thing that impresses me most about Stretton Hall, the thing that matters to me most, is the deep, genuine care and knowledge/understanding that the staff have for the residents. I see it both in the way staff engage with my dad and the way I see them interacting with the residents. I'm so glad he's there.

Being the close friend of a resident for 50 years, I have to say his care for six weeks with all Stettin Hall nursing home until his death was absolutely exemplary. Everything about this nursing home was faultless. His room was large, clean and cosy. The staff were caring and so helpful and friendly.
All his needs were catered to for end-of-life care.

My mother-in-law was a resident of Stretton Hall for the last two and a half years of her life. She consistently said that she was treated with kindness and that the food was good at the beginning of her stay. She was quite active and was given the freedom to walk the corridors whenever the mood took
her and to sit and talk in the corridors and have a drink or some food so that she could talk to the passers-by! Even when she later became almost bedbound, she was positive about the home and her room and the staff.

Stretton Hall is a fully family set-up, welcoming visitors, especially spouses, with a genuinely warm and caring atmosphere. Resident's rooms are respected as their own space, and their own facilities are welcomed, subject to safety regulations, making the room a true home-from-home. Facilities to ease
movement through the building enable residents to associate freely with others. The building itself is a blend of a manor house and a new purpose-built wing beautifully designed to fit in with the old building.

Sadly having lost my son in early July, after two and a half years at Stretton Hall, I have no hesitation in giving the whole of the staff, management and the Hall itself 10 out of 10. Should I ever need care, I hope they can find a room for me.

My partner has been receiving end-of-life from the beginning of December 21. The nursing home is well run with staff, both medical and caring, displaying empathy and very personal care. She is bathed daily, and her clothes are changed daily. Her medication is also of a high standard, and changes are
effected when necessary. The food is of a very high standard and beams in comparison with a good restaurant; it is prepared and cooked in the nursing home's kitchen from fresh ingredients. Occasionally problems fo arise, but they are dealt with promptly by management or nurses and carers where appropriate. The home has a lovely, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. My partner is receiving end-of-life care.

This beautiful home set in Church Stretton is always a positive experience when visiting.
I find all the staff to be warm, friendly, and caring on each visit to the home.
Nothing is too much trouble, and you are always made to feel so welcome.
The manager there is really nice and very caring.
He
appears to have got the culture of compassion, care, and professional service just right.
I have to mention in high regard also the two activity social life coordinators who are simply joyous and make for an absolutely wonderful team.
The residents are so well provided for, and they do their utmost to keep the residents happy and care for.

My partner was diagnosed with terminal cancer in Spring 2021. As she neared the end of her life, it was not possible for her to remain at home, and she moved to Stretton Hall to receive palliative end of life care. I cannot convey what a relief it was, both for her and the family, for her to be put
somewhere so beautiful for the last months of her life. Wonderful setting and a garden-style room, which was very important to her as she was immobile but loved nature. She was able to watch the season changing one last time and delighted in the comings and goings of the birds and animals. The staff were beyond supportive and compassionate and spent much time with her when she was strong enough to chat and laugh. The last months and end of her life were peaceful, dignified and pain managed, and this is wholly because of the wonderful care at Stretton Hall. Thank you, always.

Our mother was a resident at Stretton Hall for nearly 5-years; as time went on and her Alzheimer’s became more challenging, the staff were always professional but caring and compassionate. The family were always kept informed, and we were able to visit regularly, the staff always welcoming. Stretton
Hall is a beautiful building, clean and well maintained, beautiful gardens. Mum passing in July 2021 at 102, and I feel she had the best care from all the wonderful staff and can’t thank them enough.

My mother was admitted to Stretton Hall from the hospital for end of life care in December 2020. Because of Covid, the family had not been able to visit the home before she became a resident, or visit her in person for several months afterwards, but the staff were always so helpful and kept us informed
at all times. When we were eventually able to see Mum, we were very impressed by the cleanliness, atmosphere and obvious dedication and friendliness of all the staff.
Mum passed away in July, and the care she received was second to none. She was treated with respect, dignity and compassion at all times. I would have no hesitation in recommending Stretton Hall to anyone looking for first-class care.

After making the difficult decision to move my aunt into Stretton Hall Care Home, we have been comforted by the level of support and care she has received. Initially, for respite care, but more recently, in the Garden Suite, we cannot fault the commitment of all the staff under the leadership of the
manager to the wellbeing of all residents. The care home has been very understanding of our situation, living several hours away from Stretton, which made visiting even more difficult during COVID times. They have ensured the home was COVID-secure whilst the care and support staff work tirelessly to maintain contact between my aunt and members of her family through facilitated phone and video calls. Attention is taken in tailoring the service provided to both residents and their families alike. We are so pleased and feel blessed that my aunt can remain in the village she has lived in all her life and receive the care and support she deserves and requires as her health fades.
