Bramley House provides luxury care in a beautiful environment. Bramley House is in the bustling village of Mere, just beneath the South Downs. Mere has a lively range of shops and pubs, as well as a tearoom and a post office.

At Bramley House, all residents have comfortable, beautifully styled bedrooms, a choice of light and airy living and dining rooms, and even a luxury hair salon. The large orangery and patio look out onto the beautiful, landscaped gardens, with a pond and pergolas. The well-maintained raised beds make it easy for residents to enjoy the plants, and for anyone wishing to be more energetic to do some gardening of their own. Even the chickens are friendly!

The team of dedicated care staff are fully trained to provide round-the-clock, quality care for all residents, and are experienced in helping any residents living with dementia.

The on-site kitchen team produces a variety of healthy home-cooked meals using fresh produce. They cater for a wide range of tastes and dietary requirements and snacks are always available. The energetic activities co-ordinators provide a busy schedule of engaging events and activities, so residents remain active and engaged.

Above all, at Bramley House, they treat residents with the respect and affection they deserve. From excellent home cooking to individually decorated private rooms... life is tailored to you. The Manager and her team pride themselves on the standard of care and support they offer to their residents, including those living with dementia. Whenever we have visited Mum she always appears happy, clean and well-fed. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. We cannot praise the entertainments team enough, also during lockdown, they have gone above and beyond. Social media has come into its own and it is great to see all the photos.
Always kept informed of any changes in Mum's health or behaviour.

Friendly, homely environment, caring staff who always greet Mother by her first name on arrival and try their best to accommodate her in the same room, so it is as familiar to her as possible.
There appears to be a lot of activities planned and the garden with the chickens is a delight and kept in
wonderful order.
Mother does enjoy her respite visits and appreciates the kindness of all who care for her, which is very reassuring when we leave her.
Bramley House has recently been a star in helping us out in an emergency at home.

My mum is really happy at Bramley House. Over the last couple of years, she had been in four different homes because she's been in and out of hospital a few times and needed a bit of time to recover after each visit but up until now she always wanted to go back home as soon as she got a bit better.
But Bramley House is different and my mum really feels at home there.
The staff can't do enough to keep her happy and its always really clean and tidy and smells fresh with a lovely garden and even chickens and always plenty going on. Mum says she wants to stay there and I feel really confident that she'll be really well looked after.

My father came into Bramley House over Christmas and New Year for respite care. During the time he was there the staff were wonderful and could not be more friendly and helpful. He also enjoyed the food very much, along with all the different things that were put on over the festive period. He had a
very nice, bright, modern and well-furnished bedroom, which reflected the rest of Bramley House and its standards.

My mother's very happy at Bramley House where she is near to so many of her friends in the area. Care is excellent, staff so patient and kind and the atmosphere is lovely. The only meal is breakfast, which isn't so good. Mum says her porridge and tea are nearly always cold and when she asked to have
muesli, this was not on offer. Why is the tea at breakfast cold when it's always hot at every other time? Also, 6 am is too early for a first drink Mum says! Also, she says too much cream in food, otherwise it is wonderful.

Thank you for your review. I was very pleased with your response but concerned about the breakfast not being quite up to standard. I have spoken to the Cook today and Muesli is on offer for all. Choices are offered daily and there are many varieties of cereal to choose from as well as hot breakfast options. Drinks are available throughout the day and night, hot or cold. It is very important to us at Bramley House that our residents are happy with all aspects of the home. We will listen to all comments and work together to ensure Bramley House is a high-quality home for the residents to enjoy.

The care staff at Bramley are exceptionally good at their job. They know their residents and are always there to make them comfortable and "at home" as much as possible.
The staff are willing to explore ways of assisting residents to go on trips and outings suggested. Visitors are always made welcome.
When it is time for me to be looked after I will be hoping to get the sort of first-class care that is given here.

Before choosing Bramley House I visited about five other care homes in this area. Bramley House struck me as being as close to being one's own home as possible with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly caring staff. The most striking thing is the friendliness and goodwill of all the staff. Mum is very well cared for, her room is clean and always tidy and nothing is ever an effort.
As mum is chair bound they always bring her down to the activities and for lunch if she wants. Friends and relations are made welcome
at all times. Over the last 4 years, I have found nothing to complain about. Very good!!

While a resident of Bramley House he was treated with dignity and warmth. He was always well turned out, relaxed and cheerful no matter what time or day you went to see him. Staff and management were always available to answer our queries.
The care home had a feeling of homeliness eg. Fresh flowers,
lovely home cooked food and resident cat and dog. On his passing, the staff's understanding and compassion continued to be extended to the family.

Mum spent her final 7 months in Bramley House and on every visit we were so impressed by the welcome we received and how well she was being looked after. Her room was always clean, bedding and clothing washed regularly and a good choice of food.
As her condition deteriorated her care was seamlessly
adapted to meet her changing needs and we were regularly updated.
The management and staff are a really special team - creating a genuinely happy, jolly and homely atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble, always hard working but very approachable.
We regularly saw residents participating in organised activities, and we now have some lovely photos of mum taken by the staff enjoying Christmas lunch and blowing out the candles on her birthday (89th) cake.
It was such a relief to us that mum was so well looked after but we would also like to mention that we regularly saw, and heard staff, spending time with other residents, patiently dealing with sometimes quite challenging situations.

My wife went into Bramley House in November of 2016. She has settled in very well, mainly due to the staff being so friendly and helpful. I cannot speak too highly of them. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and well prepared. The accommodation is very comfortable. She is so much happier
now than when she was at home. Which makes me feel that I made the right decision in putting into such a lovely place.

Anna Dunford

Job Title: Registered Home Manager

I am passionate about providing the best possible care for our residents, supporting their families, and fostering a happy and dedicated team. I am thrilled to join Bramley House as the new Care Manager. With extensive experience in the healthcare sector, I bring a well-rounded skillset and deep knowledge to our team. My journey began in GP surgeries, followed by a role as a pharmacy advisor. From there, I progressed from senior carer to care home assistant practitioner to deputy manager. This comprehensive background has equipped me with an excellent understanding of all aspects of care, fulfilling my long-held goal of becoming a care manager—a role I'm truly passionate about.


Outside of work, I love to indulge in fine dining, travel abroad, and immerse myself in different cultures. Cinema outings are also a favourite pastime of mine. When I’m not exploring new places, I enjoy relaxing breaks in my caravan, always in the company of my family, loved ones, and my beloved red Labrador, Marley.


One of the most exhilarating experiences I've had was swimming through the deep caves and sacred cenotes of Mexico.


In my free time, I cherish cosy Friday winter nights with a Chinese takeaway, a true crime documentary, or a good film, surrounded by family. During the summer, my perfect Friday includes a meat and seafood BBQ, a hot tub, and playing cards and games with friends and family.


One of my favourite films is "The Shawshank Redemption".


I take my coffee white with one sweetener, though I do have a soft spot for a caramel latte.


I am excited to lead our team at Bramley House with enthusiasm and dedication, ensuring we continue to enhance the lives of our residents with person-centred and high-quality care. My goal is to ensure that their home and life are always their choice and that they feel supported, respected, and valued.
