The team at East Park Court are devoted to enriching the lives of their residents. Providing residential and dementia care, they also offer respite care breaks, which can be booked in advance.

The residents have an active role to play in how their home is run, from welcoming potential residents and their families, to providing feedback on everything from the activities to the menu.

They enjoy a wide variety of activities, from live musical entertainment to animal visits, with everything from hedgehogs and puppies, to tortoises and rabbits. The home also has its own dog, a King Charles Cavalier called Dexter, whom the residents adore.

Residents enjoy pub lunches and trips out shopping, visits from local school children, as well as performances by local theatre and music groups, and the local church choir.

Loved ones are embraced into life in the home and join in with so many activities and outings. They also love to take part in community events, like this summer’s Crufts Show, as well as summer and Christmas fetes.

And there are also outings to enjoy. This summer the residents enjoyed a trip to West Midland Safari Park, followed by trips to the Sealife Centre in Birmingham and Cosford Air Museum.

There are lots of wonderful spaces to enjoy in the home, with welcoming lounges, a vintage café and a hair salon, for weekly appointments with a mobile hairdresser and pampering sessions.

The residents’ bedrooms have ensuite wet rooms. Some of the bedrooms also have patio doors leading to the secure gardens.

In the dining rooms, residents enjoy nutritious home-cooked meals, from roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays, and home baking for afternoon tea.

My father-in-law had been in East Park Court for 2 years, being diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and unable to look after himself. Unfortunately, in November 2017, he took a turn for the worse and stopped eating. The staff at the home were truly wonderful with him with their care and patience. He went
into hospital mid-November 2017 and it was obvious he was dying (he was 95). The manager did everything she could to get dad back to the care home to be with them when he passed away. Unfortunately, it never happened as the hospital couldn't get a special bed to the home in time. All of the staff at the home were fantastic with is and dad during the run-up to hospitalisation.

My aunt was extremely happy at East Park Court. She never complained once. The staff were very caring and never said "no" to any requests. The staff are very dedicated. We wouldn't hesitate to let her stay in the future.

I moved into the home for ten days whilst my carer went on holiday and I had my own private room and received personal attention at all times.
I am on a diet and careful thought was given to me in what I could eat.
I am a cripple but that did not influence the necessary extra help I needed.
I would
willingly attend the home again.

My dad was very poorly when he came to the home. He had been in hospital for 5 weeks and was extremely thin and frail. He had no appetite and was very unsteady.
Since being here, he has gained weight and is much more his old self. His mobility has improved and he can do so much more for himself. The
care that he has received has been exceptional. The staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The quality of the food is excellent and the encouragement that the staff offer is brilliant. I can find no fault this is a great team and is led by a fantastic management team.

You can't fault the staff or home, they were so warm to us as a family of a resident. Unfortunately, our mum passed away on Good Friday. They treated her with unbelievable dignity, answered all our concerns, also nothing was too much trouble.

Placing your loved one into residential care is one of the hardest things to do, so when you do, you need to know it is the best place you can find. My dad has been in East Park for almost 12 months and over that time he has settled and seems content. This is solely down to the superb staff.
The staff
are the heart of the home and their patience and consideration knows no bounds. They are welcoming, happy and genuinely seem to love their work. They all have an in-depth knowledge of the residents.
If I have one criticism, it is that the home lacks a large room big enough to host some of the activities (eg. the fete). It is a shame all the residents can't get together for a 'knees up',
That said, I can't fault things and as long as dad seems happy, I'm happy.

Overall East Park Court Residential Care Home is a very friendly place. The only problem I've had is my mother's clothes were not being put on hangers after coming back from the laundry room. The drawers are left very untidy. I think there's need for more things to be going on around them. The television
is on but no one watches it!! Perhaps some old songs (cd's) played would suit them better.

Reply from Linda Lovatt, Home Manager at East Park Court Residential Care Home

“Thank you for your review and your comments about East Park Court being a friendly home.
“I can assure you that our laundry team return clothes to their hangers or fold them away neatly into drawers. Sometimes residents do go in and check their clothes or simply have a look for an item of clothing and this can often leave them looking untidy.
“We have a dedicated Activities Coordinator who provides activities in the mornings and afternoons, including group and one-to-one activities, as well as a range of entertainers. The television is simply on to provide choice as we do have residents who enjoy watching their favourite programmes.
“We really welcome feedback from residents and their loved ones so if you would like to see a certain activity taking place, or have a chat about anything else, then please do let us know – my door is always open.”

My father has got a lovely room with a pleasant outlook. The carers are very caring and kind towards my father and I have witnessed care and dignity shown to other residents and a lot of patience. There are activities planned every day by an activities co-ordinator. The lounges are very pleasant and
the dining room is always laid out very nicely with flowers on the tables.
I have seen very nice food (home cooked) served. There is a nice garden. I think the management and staff try to make all the residents feel as happy as they can be. It is a caring environment, and a lot of cheerfulness, laughter from staff trying to make people feel better. I would recommend this home to people.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.688)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.688) out of 10 for East Park Court Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.979 for East Park Court Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.979

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.709 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for East Park Court Residential Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I really enjoy working in the team and getting to know the residents. The residents become like your own family and when I clean their rooms I like to have a chat and spend time with them.
