Berkeley Court is located at the centre of the Harehills community in Leeds. The home continues to welcome new residents for care. It provides friendly and comfortable residential and dementia care for up to 78 residents in single en-suite rooms.

I have already recommended the care home to a family member for their father. The staff are excellent, the home is clean and there are no old people smells, which I find excellent. They are always finding ways to entertain the residents eg bingo on a Thursday morning. It has a cafe looking out over
Leeds where the residents can take visitors to make a drink and chat.

My mother was cared for sensitively and with humour and compassion by a dedicated staff in a friendly, clean, warm environment. They did their best to ensure that she was comfortable and cared for, even though she was not happy in her last years and probably was quite challenging at times. My mother
was ever saying she wanted to come and live with us - this was never possible and you were the only option that gave us reassurance and lack of guilt to a certain extent - thank you.

I am delighted about the quality of care my aunt is getting, working myself in social care, I have a sense of the effort the staff put in to ensure an outstanding care. The staff are friendly, have time for the residents and overall are well trained. Berkeley Court is an exceptionally good care home.

If I had a criticism, it would be in the room itself. The carpet could be changed, as were the carpets in the corridors. Either that or vacuumed regularly to get the bits up. The hanging space could be improved with more space provided.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide feedback on Berkeley Court. We are very pleased that you found the overall standard of the home to be excellent. We do have a daily cleaning programme within the home on each of our units. As you may have seen we have recently had all of the carpets in the corridors replaced. We are also working very hard with our domestic team to concentrate on the deep cleaning of our bedroom carpets.

Even when her dementia was obvious to all, I felt that I could look after her and the house myself. It quickly became obvious to friends and family that I could not. She came to Berkeley Court in September 2017. My health failed. I spent December 2017 in hospital. I asked to be discharged to Berkeley
Court so we could be together. That was good but exhausting. After three months I was worn out and asking for help. The manager and staff are being very helpful in splitting my day and relieve me from repetitive conversations about what day is it? do we owe anybody anything? who is in our kitchen? have we got something for tea?


I have moved to another floor, we share that room in the afternoon, read, write, sleep or watch TV. Immediately after tea, we say 'goodnight' and I am in my room alone to enjoy a welcome break. She is looked after by the staff, enjoys her evenings separately and I feel I can get the best out of sharing our care and having my own life.

The staff are extremely caring and supportive and treat problems with sensitivity and thought. They are always cheerful, helpful and proactive. The home is very clean, light, airy and pleasant with a welcoming atmosphere. A better internet speed with reliable access would be an added advantage.

My aunt has only been in the care home for a few months, but we (family) are very pleased with the way she has settled in, and she seems very happy. Each time we have been to visit there is always lots of staff around who are very friendly and helpful to answer any questions if necessary.

My relative has been a resident in Berkeley Court since 25th February 2013 when it was under the management of Ideal Care Homes, taken over by Anchor in September 2015. Since then, several changes of management staff have occurred and standards have been very good.
Staff who work and take care of
the residents in question have been excellent. She has been lucky to have the same carers all the time until she was moved to a nursing care home which is nearer for me to visit as age is not on my side and the travel to Leeds is not good with public or private transport. The transfer to the new home, arranged by Berkeley Court, was outstanding and she was accompanied by a carer. I thank all at Berkeley Court for all the excellent care for 3 years 7 months.
