Sherrell House is a purpose built modern friendly care home located in Chigwell Essex offering skilled professionals for a wide range of personal and nursing needs.

The home has two specialist dementia units as well as a nursing unit. All beds have en-suite facilities and are decorated to a high standard. The simple design and layout of the building provides wide corridors with good lighting. Lounges, dining rooms and quiet rooms are located around the home, with communal rooms on each floor, close to the bedrooms, so residents can choose how and to spend their day.

In addition to this, the home has a hair salon where you can enjoy being pampered and a cinema area should you want to watch a film. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building enabling contact with families and friends from afar to be maintained.

The resident chef prepares tasty home-cooked meals each day which are served in the three dining areas. Each meal is designed to suit individual food preferences and cultures and uses fresh ingredients.

The aim is to create a homely atmosphere and quality care services where people are treated with respect and dignity. A home from home where the resident and their families can relax, secure in the knowledge that their loved ones are safe.

My mother has been a resident here for 6 months. I have found the staff very caring and proffessional. They go a step further and nothing is a problem.
We are very pleased that my mother is being cared for in such a lovely home. The staff and management are excellent.

Have found all the staff friendly and helpful; they are respectful and caring to the residents.
The food is lovely, especially the soup each evening - obviously home made.
Both the dining room and lounge are light and airy; and like the rest of the home, clean and tidy.

Mum has now been at Sherrell House for three months. It's quite like a hotel with a large area where residents dine together and a large lounge and outdoor courtyard where they sit during the day. The lifestyle coordinators work very hard to make the resident's lives more colourful with various activities
during the week. Every time I visit there is something different going on. They have a regular performer who sings all the old hits live in the courtyard, he gives it 100% and puts a big smile on their faces. My mum hasn't danced for years but while being resident at Sherrell House we had some very precious moments together dancing and having fun. Most notably my mum's 90's birthday was her best ever. The managers and all the carers, kitchen staff, and housekeeping, they all do a fantastic job. Mum and I always go for a little walk around under the oak trees and also a second garden to the rear with seating. Thank you to all of the team at Sherrell House.

What a difference Sherrell House has made to my mum's quality of life. Last year she was in hospital for her birthday. Today she celebrated her birthday at Sherrell House and what a great time she had too! Two of the staff had her up dancing, sang to her and together with all the staff, presented her
with a beautiful cake the chef kindly made. Sherrell House has enabled her to have a wonderful day because of all of the amazing staff who care for her and all the residents with the utmost compassion and empathy. We are really very lucky and so grateful! Thank you all.

So far, my experience of my mother's care home is excellent, no complaints, she is so happy there. The staff's level of care and respect they have towards the patients is excellent, in my opinion. They are well fed, kept clean, entertained continuously, not just left to sit in a room. I am so happy

My dad moved into Sherrell House a few months ago. He has been cared for very well and is now looking younger than when he arrived. He took a little while to settle in to this new stage of his life, but was given encouragement by all members of the team, who were most welcoming. He is now very happily
involved in the life of the home, liking all members of the team and pretty well every aspect of the community he is now part of. The family are all very positive about the home and the way he is looked after.

Excellent facility. Recently refurbished throughout. Residents are kept busy with lots of entertainment and are generally well looked after. Food is of good quality and refreshments/snacks served regularly. No reason for any complaint. Staff are friendly and very caring.

Absolutely incredible service. Have had experience with a few different homes in the area, and this stands out above the rest by far! The staff are friendly and warm and always happy to have a quick chat about how things are going, showing care and respect when talking about my grandma.

My mother settled in well, and I was amazed at how quickly she adapted to her new home. I believe this is due to the excellent support of the staff. She has become more social, enjoying spending time in the lounge and the varied activities, and I have noticed she is now less anxious. She particularly
enjoys the live music and parties, and it's wonderful to see her dancing and having a fun time. I receive full communication regarding her health matters and general updates on how she's doing. I am always welcomed when visiting and have been invited to join some activities, including a Christmas lunch; it's wonderful to see residents enjoying themselves. On my visits, I've observed kindness and reassurance from carers and nurses to the residents and taking the opportunity to engage with them for some fun; the activities staff are enthusiastic and encourage participation. I am reassured and confident my mum is receiving all-round excellent care.

On entering the home and meeting with the manager, I was confident this was the place my wife would be cared for. I cannot praise the management and staff highly enough. Fortunately, my wife is still mobile and has been lucky enough to be taken out on several day trips organised by one particular member
of staff, a lovely young caring person. It is obviously very sad when a loved one has to be looked after by professionals, but I know my wife is in very capable hands.

I have nothing but praise for the level of care I have received at the care home. The 24-hour medical care provided is first-class and reliable, with doctor support if necessary.
The staff that work here are extremely professional and helpful and provide a friendly and supportive service throughout.

The standard of accommodation and food is also excellent. The rooms are cleaned daily, and the food is plentiful, nutritious and cooked on-site.

I have worked in the care sector for 19 years, but I was inspired to join Excelcare in particular because of the strong family feel and environment. All team members make you feel like you belong from the moment you start to work here. From when I first visited Sherrell House, I was so impressed with the compassion I could feel from the team every time that they spoke to, or about the people living in the home.


When I started at my first job in care, I was quite disheartened as there was no real team spirit or motivation. However, I am so glad that I continued in care, because that is certainly not the case at Sherrell House. I am part of a team that puts in 100% all of the time and is incredibly passionate. This is a fantastic environment, and I’m looking forward to seeing where my future in Excelcare takes me.
