My father moved into Acacia Lodge in February 2023 with advanced dementia. He needs the highest level of nursing care and we feel very lucky to have found Acacia Lodge. The whole team really care and my father is exceptionally well looked after. Thoroughly recommended.

We have been very pleased on the whole with the home. The carers are all wonderful and patient. Mother can be extremely difficult. All the activities are fabulous.

As always, when I visit my mother, the staff are welcoming. It is a busy floor and must be challenging at times, but it always feels calm and happy, and the residents appear well cared for and content. The atmosphere is positive - there are lots of activities going on, which my mother really enjoys
doing. The home itself is bright and homely. It appears well-run, and I always enjoy my visits.

My aunt has been happy and settled from the moment she arrived. The staff are friendly, helpful and caring. My uncle visits every day, and the staff could not be more welcoming. Whenever we visit the home, it is very clean, and my aunt’s room is kept clean and tidy. She is always well dressed, with
her hair washed and brushed. The staff interaction with my aunt and other residents is kind, caring and supportive.

Immediately prior to my mum becoming a resident in September 2022, I found the manager to be incredibly helpful with a very positive attitude. She guided me through the process of moving my mum from independent living to the care home. The staff are caring and cheerful and the phone is always answered
and any queries dealt with in a professional but sympathetic manner. The home feels like a family environment and every effort is made to accommodate residents' quirks and individual traits.

I would like there to be more activities for residents. There have been some opportunities for trips out in the minibus, but hopefully, more can be arranged. I would also like more physical exercises to be made available to residents. Daily exercise is very important to my mum as she has always been
very active. The care home could have regular armchair sessions and additional physical activities for more capable residents.

Acacia Lodge is a warm, welcoming place. The atmosphere created by the staff is bright and cheerful. Although my aunt suffers severely with dementia she is part of the community and is happy and content. This is proof of a caring, inclusive environment in which she is safe and cared for.

I think the care in Acacia Lodge is very good and any time you want to visit the staff are amazing and kept very busy. The residents are so well looked after. My whole family is very happy their dad is so well cared for.

My husband moved into the Lodge in August 2022. He has dementia with Lewy Body and gets the care and attention, support and help that he needs from the dedicated staff. The staff are always there to support me and it puts my mind at rest to know that he is well looked after.

Acacia Lodge Care Home is a very welcoming home. The staff are very dedicated and have given my mother wonderful care during her four and a half years with them. They work so hard and coped with Covid better than care homes in the surrounding area.

Mum was admitted to Acacia Lodge in May 2022 following hospital discharge after a fall at home and breaking her hip. Right from the start she was made to feel welcome and every assistance was given to help her settle in. She feels safe, loves her room and says 'they have a great laugh'. Family worries
have reduced greatly and a visit to Mum these days is a pleasure. The staff are caring, attentive and approachable. The manager responds quickly to any queries and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend.

I would like to say how impressed I have been with my mother's carer and the team over the last year and a half. They all went above and beyond to do the best for my mother and to support our family, right down to attending the funeral last week. Mother's carers, care and attention to my mother's medical
history and support at each and every step of the way have been second to none. The family's worries and concerns have also been put to the forefront of her attention, and she was available to chat at every step of the way. Support with medication was a number one priority, which was considered and tweaked. I couldn't have wished for better support.

The staff at Acacia are absolutely superb with patients with dementia. My father was with the team for years and I am so grateful to them for how they looked after him. They managed his dementia by getting to know him really well, understanding all the triggers that caused him anxiety, and systematically

When looking for a care home for my mum, who was ill with Dementia, our first priority was for kind, attentive staff who knew how to treat someone with dementia with dignity and respect. We found that at Acacia Lodge. Dementia made my mum difficult to care for, and they always did their best for her.
They’ve been very friendly and kind to us as a family and supportive when she passed away. We couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended!

All the staff were very kind and compassionate with my dad. It was like home from home! When he passed away everyone, especially the manager, were so supportive. Each time I was able to visit, I could see how all the staff I met were so kind and I could see the care given. NHS staff could learn a thing

We had a very good experience of Acacia Lodge for my father, who was a resident for 3 and 1/2 years. In the beginning, dad did not want to leave his own house, but within weeks of moving in, he became very settled. He became happier and more relaxed than I had seen him for a long while. In fact, he
felt so comfortable that his main cause of stress became the fear that he would be forced to leave. The staff were amazing and always cheerful. The staff also didn’t change much, so dad saw the same faces throughout his time there, which became important as his dementia advanced. We, as a family, could not have chosen a better care home.

We cannot express strongly enough how grateful we are to all the staff at Acacia Lodge for their outstanding care and support to our Mum and to us throughout her last days - truly remarkable. They even managed to take her into the garden to feel the sunshine on her face, something she had not enjoyed
for some years. Acacia Lodge is a very special place, run by people that truly care. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who looked after Mum so well.

My step-father went to stay at Acacia Lodge in May 2020 in the middle of a pandemic with a broken shoulder and we did not think he would be returning home due to needs. He made an excellent recovery and returned home this week. The staff were fantastic and always chirpy and happy and the manager was
very hands-on and clear and always at the end of the phone, took your call or called you back. The manager also organised outside safe visits for families even at very late notice and it was never too much trouble to bring families together. I never went inside the home due to Covid so I can't confirm 100% but the only negative he said was he felt the room was quite small and always so hot with only a tiny bit of window that would open. Fans were provided and it was also during the summer.

Hi, my name is Wendy!
I began my employment at Acacia Lodge in 2013 in the Housekeeping Department but soon realised that doing activities was something I wanted to try and would enjoy.
When the opportunity arose I applied for the role immediately. My manager has been my mentor and adviser and has encouraged me to keep the momentum going with everything I plan. Thelma nominated me for the Care Home Awards in 2018 and I made it to the final seven. A proud moment!


The best part of my role is bringing joy and laughter and creating special moments with our residents, families and staff. Offering reassurance and a hug to residents when needed is also so important to me. A chat and a cup of tea go a long way to making someone feel wanted or respected.


My role is important because, without the daily stimulation of activity, it is easy to become withdrawn, lethargic and poorly. Using my person-centred care skills I endeavour to make sure that everything is an activity, from care to meal times. Activities cover many daily tasks as well as the usual fun things.
