My mother aged 88 has been a resident at the above home for over a year. From the admission date to now there has not been a moment of worry. The care home provides superb care in every way which gives me and my three brothers complete peace of mind.

My dear friend and neighbour of 93 years old spent her last days in this truly fabulous care home before she sadly passed away just over a week ago. In the month or so she was there I witnessed so much love and professional care for all the patients at Acacia Lodge Henley. The staff there are led
by the simply marvellous manager and all are nothing less than angels. The professional nursing care is second to none - the fabulous lady nurse from South Africa (she knows who I mean ! ha ha) was a huge comfort to the family especially in the hours prior to our loved one's passing. Boundless compassion, care and love is what I associate with this wonderful place

My mother had three weeks respite care at Acacia Lodge following hospitalisation for a fall. Staff were great at encouraging her to get back her mobility and provided great advice for when she returned home. In fact, my mother's mobility was better following her stay than it was before she had the fall.
They realised that my mother was not ready for a permanent residency and actively encouraged her to get ready for a move home, supported by a live-in carer.

Staff are exceptionally accommodating and friendly. They met every need my mum had during her brief stay. Their attention to detail makes a big difference and show real care and patience. I will stay in touch with the home and wouldn't hesitate to us it again in the future. Mum felt safe and secure.

My husband, aged 90 was unable to walk, swallow, or speak and paralysed on left side. Only his right arm worked after a massive stroke. He was doubly incontinent and peg fed. The nursing staff and carers all had a sympathetic rapport with him. He could see and understand. They all had a quiet understanding
of his situation (difficult moods and pain), spoke softly and he was calmed and comforted. His physical nursing was always gentle and skilled, never impatient. I visited daily and I was struck by the way they all liked one another and worked as a team often in difficult circumstances. He died after 6 months residence with his family present. My son was given a bed during the previous week near him. I cannot speak highly enough of Acacia Lodge and their tender loving care.

My mother presented with very challenging behavior and physical needs, having been evicted from her previous care home, despite her complex health needs qualifying for NHS Continuing Care. The nursing staff and the management dealt with these challenges with calm, sensitive clarity. When my mother died
the conduct of the home was exemplary and her death was managed with the greatest of care and tenderness. I highly recommend this nursing home.

Hi, my name is Wendy!
I began my employment at Acacia Lodge in 2013 in the Housekeeping Department but soon realised that doing activities was something I wanted to try and would enjoy.
When the opportunity arose I applied for the role immediately. My manager has been my mentor and adviser and has encouraged me to keep the momentum going with everything I plan. Thelma nominated me for the Care Home Awards in 2018 and I made it to the final seven. A proud moment!


The best part of my role is bringing joy and laughter and creating special moments with our residents, families and staff. Offering reassurance and a hug to residents when needed is also so important to me. A chat and a cup of tea go a long way to making someone feel wanted or respected.


My role is important because, without the daily stimulation of activity, it is easy to become withdrawn, lethargic and poorly. Using my person-centred care skills I endeavour to make sure that everything is an activity, from care to meal times. Activities cover many daily tasks as well as the usual fun things.
