Oak Lodge Care Home is a stylish, purpose-built home situated in the peaceful residential area of Bitterne. Here, they welcome those living with dementia in need of nursing or palliative care.

The nurses are here to help residents live the way they want to, which is made easier by having a home that's been designed with dementia residents in mind. There are lots of social lounges, secure gardens and a tranquil sensory area outside.

The home discusses with each resident their food preferences, in order to ensure everyone’s dietary tastes are catered for.

The team regularly organises outings and trips to ensure the care home has strong links within the community. Themed events are planned every month which residents are encouraged to invite family and friends along to.

My husband has been at Oak Lodge since March 2010, in that time he has been wonderfully looked after and treated as their own by all the staff. They do over and above with respectful treatment of family who visit. My thanks always to them in difficult situations.

Oak Lodge is very good and does a great job looking after my mother. The staff are very friendly and work very hard. I do enjoy coming in to visit. If I do have any problems, there is always someone to talk to and get it sorted out. Lovely place.

Corin Ridout

Job Title: General Manager

I am the General Manager at Oak Lodge. I have been in this role for four years but have been working in care for more than eleven.


I started out as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities. I then moved into home management and four years ago I moved from learning disabilities into the elderly care sector.


Before working in care I had various careers including Live Music Venue management in Camden town and plant mechanics.


In my spare time I like to challenge myself physically and have completed the London classic twice and I am now in training for Iron Man 2021.


I love working in a care environment as I feel privileged to be able to support our residents to continue to live safe happy lives with a good dose of fun thrown in for good measure!

I joined the Oak Lodge team in 2019 as Clinical Services Manager. I have been working in a healthcare setting for 30 years, both within Private and NHS settings.


I am very passionate about working in the elderly care sector and ensuring our residents continue to have a meaningful and good quality life. We have a wonderful team here and I enjoy supporting and encouraging them every day so they develop.


In my spare time, I enjoy playing tennis, dancing, swimming, squash and cycling.

I joined the team in 2016 - I previously spent over 20 years’ working for the Department of Work and Pensions and after taking voluntary redundancy I thought my experience would be a good fit for this role.


I enjoy supporting our residents and their loved ones and answering any questions they have, working as part of a great team who care for our residents and the endless supply of home-made cakes and biscuits!


I live locally and I am married with one son and I enjoy films, quizzing and gaming with my son.
