Mum was cared for to a reasonable standard. Seemed to be very few activities taking place. A few concerns regarding her cleanliness and appearance; not seen by a podiatrist during her stay despite her being diabetic. Difficult to contact the home outside of office hours. As visitors, we were not offered
refreshments, no tea or coffee facilities.

Thank you for your comments. The care home podiatry service does not see diabetic residents as they are always seen at the outpatient diabetic department at the hospital Due to the pandemic previous we are still taking precautions and the rise of covid in the community we are not serving refreshments for relatives. We have a number of coffee shops within walking distance of the care home.

My mother-in-law was placed in this setting. After she was basically kicked out of the previous care home she was in.
I went to visit her today what a difference, the staff were so polite. I wish we picked this place years ago.

I was a bit wary about this home. Being that I had previously heard so many horror stories regarding other care homes, but Sandown Park is nothing like this.
Immediately, the staff put me at ease. They explained everything in detail and put me at ease straight away. The care home is clean and tidy,
and the staff are very easy to speak to, and the room is very clean.

My mother's care needs became more to the end of her life, and I and my sister were so happy that we managed to get her into Sandown Park. Everyone involved in her care was so professional, helpful and attentive, which made us both feel that at the end of the day that we had done our best for her.

What an amazing nursing home. Every person I met was welcoming and so helpful. My mum was really unsure about giving up her independence but the carers were so attentive, they explained the daily routine, using her whiteboard if necessary and she very quickly settled in and made friends and referred
to it as home. I felt happy that everything she needed was catered for. The home itself is so clean and warm and there are activities every day for all abilities, but for me, the overriding positive was how lovely the staff were to her.

Unfortunately, my husband went into Sandown Park direct from the hospital on the instruction of social services on 12/8/22 for five weeks and six days.
This would never have been my choice.
One week was enough for me and my family.
The whole experience was just terrible.
Basic hygiene was terrible;
we had to ask on many occasions for him to be showered, brush his teeth and change slips more often because of double incontinence. Continuing damp smell in the bathroom. The whole second floor he was placed on continually smelt of urine. Three times reminded the carer to put the brake on the wheelchair as my husband had poor balance. I could say more, but am just glad he is out of that home and now lives in a much cleaner environment and receives much better care with very helpful people and my own health is improving also.

Sadly we have received this review which is not factual. Staff felt they were rudely spoken to constantly and when given an account of care when questioned was not believed. This was referred to the local authority. As the home's manager, my door is always open and the family never approached me about their concerns.

Unfortunately, my aunt passed away last weekend. She was a matter of days to her 97th birthday. The care and empathy that the staff showed my aunt and myself were exemplary; they have helped me through this very sad time (not totally unexpected). I would wholeheartedly recommend this care home.

The care director has generously allowed me to take my mother out for a drive. This means I am trusted, and I appreciate it. The nursing staff are hardworking, and on the whole, informative. I expect that the care will not be tailor made as everyone's needs are important. Above all, I had a problem
understanding when certain actions were taken, and now I do understand.

Although my mum was only there for three months, her end-of-life care was excellent. All the carers were very helpful and kind. The nurses in charge were excellent.
