My mother was quite ill when she went to Yew Tree and sadly died a month later. During that time, the care she received was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. My sisters and I were soon confident that the staff were knowledgeable about her condition, how it needed to be treated
and did everything they could to make her comfortable, happy and safe. The staff really do care about the residents and their families too. Mum's last few days were very difficult but the staff treated her with dignity and ensured that she was pain free. They kept us informed about the treatment she received and went the extra mile to ensure that the family could stay with mum for as long as we needed to. Mum passed away peacefully with her family around her just as she had wanted and I can't thank the staff enough for their excellent care.

I go to see my mum, she is well looked after by the staff. Her room is nice and large, the food looks good. Activities could be more available for the residents. Singalong will be good for them with dementia.

I could not recommend this facility for looking after patients with Alzheimer's. My mother-in-law was unable to eat solid food for months and, unbelievably, a plate of solid food was left on her bedside table the day before she died when she was unconscious. She had no assistance with eating in the
7 months she was there, her teeth were lost and her personal hygiene needs were very hit and miss. Her teeth were not replaced for over 2 months, by which time she could not tolerate them. Non-qualified nursing staff were nice but totally inexperienced and some of the (few and far between) qualified nurses were defensive and unhelpful. They were also untruthful about my mother-in-law's fluid intake. Records of intake and hygiene routine were useless and inaccurate. My husband made suggestions about her care and this was taken with very bad grace by some of the staff. Some of the staff were very pleasant to talk to and made the right noises but were ineffective. Not a good care home for dementia sufferers.

The care given to my father at Yew Tree Care Home is care given with love and dignity. They listen to what we want for my father and I have no cause for concern and know my father is looked after with dignity when we as a family are not with him. The carers always inform us if my father has any medical
problems, or if he has had an unsettled night and that as a family we appreciate all that they do.

Having a parent needing nursing care is devastating for the family especially when living far away. I cannot recommend this home enough. The staff treat my Mam with respect, care and best of all give her cuddles. In all honesty, my Mam is the happiest she has been in 20years, on returning from an outing
she will beam and say I’m home.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care.
After visiting for the weekend and feeling distraught at leaving her I know she will be well cared for and happy with her additional family, Yew Tree.

I find this care home very caring and friendly. Had both my parents there. Sadly dad died in January and the staff could not be more attentive towards us.
My mum is still there, has been for 3 years and in her words, she loves her home and that’s how she’s made to feel.

My grandad has been in the home as a resident since February. He has made relationships with staff members who he now classes as his family. The girls are extremely lovely, always rushed off their feet and happy to accommodate residents and their family's needs. My grandad is settled and calls Yew Tree
his home. After a stroke scare and a few days in hospital, he was so pleased to be back in his home to Yew Tree. When care workers were moved around to different floors, grandad was gutted about one worker in particular but situations changed and she's now back on dementia. He's thrilled and says she's like his daughter. Their relationship is lovely.

I have no issues at all. The home is brilliant with my father. The staff are great and he has a rapport with them all especially the carers. The senior manager could be better as we are ignored by her.

My father's stroke left him paralysed with dysphasia and nursing needs. The decision where to place him was a worry but I had heard good reports about Yew Tree. The CQC rating a few years ago gave some concern but after reading the report I found it was due to a lack of staff training and this has now
been addressed.
The rooms are adequate, the corridors are wide and clear from clutter, the communal areas are bright, spacious and tidy with modern kitchen areas and the food is varied and fresh. The staff engage with residents and encourage them to join in activities if able, they also take them on short outings when possible. My father has been a resident for 4 months and I'm happy with the way he is treated and cared for. He sometimes becomes frustrated and verbally aggressive, both to family and staff, the staff have got to know him, his routine, his likes and dislikes and they deal with his outbursts extremely well. We remain confident that we made the right choice.

My mother has received dementia nursing care in the home for just over one year now. I've been visiting when I can (long journey) and I am always impressed by the staff who work here. Though mum is in the late stages of dementia and is not able to say very many words, they manage to communicate well
with her, understand her sense of humour (which is amazingly still intact) and make her laugh and smile. They seem to be patient and kind in the way they look after her various needs. I'm very grateful for the affection and consideration they show as I know their work is both physically and mentally demanding. Despite often meeting resistance from mum (as she doesn't like to be moved, though it is necessary), they manage to cajole and soothe her into cooperating. The staff are also very considerate towards relatives, making them feel welcome, assisting them and taking time to discuss aspects of care. Just wanted to say a huge thank you to them for making a difficult time more bearable.

Mam is in the late stages of dementia and had been in her previous home for 4 years so it was a huge decision moving her to Yew Tree's Dementia Care Unit in December 2015. I have to say, it was the best decision I made. In just over two months the change in her is amazing. She is much more content,
much more alert and using vocabulary I thought was long gone. Mam is proof that the environment along with person centred care is so very important in dementia care. A huge thank you to the very special team of staff on the Dementia Care Unit.
