We are so pleased at how well our mum has settled in at Astbury Mere. All the staff are wonderful with her, her room is lovely and comfortable, and she is very much enjoying the delicious meals. Like many families in our situation, we really struggled with the decision to move Mum to residential care,
but we are now relieved that she is safe, in such a lovely, happy environment and being so well cared for.

My mother arrived at Astbury Mere at the beginning of November. Mum was made very welcome and also the family.
Everyone is very caring and friendly.
Mum is very settled and is enjoying having her hair done each week.
All areas are excellent.
All mum's needs are met. All staff go over and above in
all they do.

My mum arrived in early September and from the moment she turned up, it was evident to see just how caring the staff are.
Above and beyond doesn't do enough justice to describe the team.
My mum has been treated like a princess. Compassion and understanding are some other words. We simply have been
lucky to have my mum here.

Couldn't be happier for the outstanding level of care and compassion offered to Dad and the rest of the family. All the staff from home keeping upwards were wonderful. You couldn't clearly tell it wasn't just a job to them, it was a vocation. We are just so grateful that Dad ended his days in such a

My mother was a resident of Astbury Mere on palliative care for only a short time before she sadly passed away. In that time, the nursing care was excellent. The staff were respectful, caring and very helpful.
We only ever had to ask and it was done. The staff worked together as a team and communicated
thoroughly and appropriately with the family during this difficult time.
Astbury Mere has great staff and is well-managed, it is a great example of what a good nursing home should be, unfortunately not all are. This home felt like home from home and was excellent in every way.

From the first day of my wife's admission, I can say that the level of care has been exceptional. All of those involved in the care home have treated her with the utmost care, dignity and respect. Nothing is too much trouble and their professionalism to engage with her at different levels when she is
at a low period or when she is feeling good, is first class. They listen but never judge and the patient is always put first. However, they also enquire regularly about how the relatives are feeling which is very comforting. The building and the garden surrounding it are very well maintained.

Astbury Mere Care Home is set in beautiful surroundings. The home is very homely, beautifully decorated and extremely clean and fresh. The facilities are all excellent. All of the staff are most caring, kind and considerate which gives the feeling of a very happy family home.

I contacted Astbury Mere Care Home after Mum had had a fall. She was initially admitted to hospital and spent ten days there. I suggested to Mum that perhaps a short period of respite would help her to gain strength, confidence and the rest would help her to recover quickly. She agreed and after doing
some research and hearing positive feedback about Astbury I contacted a memeber of staff who helped organise Mums transfer from hospital. Since arriving at Astbury Mum has settled in extremely well. The staff are kind and caring the food very good and she was thrilled to have her hair done! She has said that she would happily return in the future again for respite. From my own perspective I cannot thank the team at Astbury for their support to both Mum and myself.

10000 per cent, nothing was too much trouble. The manager and all the staff to the domestics, they looked after my auntie as though she was their mother. The staff and management are very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Unfortunately, as my husband has to remain in his room, as he is very poorly, he hasn't been able to participate in any activities or enjoy the facilities, not even the food, as he isn't eating much at all.

The staff are like one happy family, very helpful and patient. The laundry service is good. Food is excellent and well-presented. Various activities on all week. Everyone here at Astbury Mere Care Home made my stay a very happy and positive experience in the circumstances.

We are very happy so far with the care and support that my dad is receiving. The staff are really helpful and attentive. We hope that he will continue to be happy here. The building is lovely and so are the gardens and other facilities.

The home is lovely, I feel that I don't worry leaving my husband here as the staff are so caring. There are plenty of common rooms for us to sit in and when the weather allows the gardens are lovely to sit out in, which the staff tend to on their days off.

During my first day, I was impressed by the homely atmosphere and friendliness of the staff - willing to help as and when needed. My experience has been positive and I am pleased that I made the decision to come here for respite care. I particularly will recommend the male night nurses who were prepared
to spend time in explaining all I needed to know about medications being given to me. Carers were efficient at their jobs and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.

Walking into the home having moved Mum from another place was like walking into a 4-star hotel. The staff couldn't have been more professional and welcoming. The food always looks delicious and Mum has really settled in now. Such a tough decision to move someone to a home, but this now feels like a
home away from home.

My father came to Astbury in July last year and sadly recently passed away at the Care Home. I wanted to share my very positive experience with any prospective residents and their families as I cannot rate it highly enough: my father was treated with respect, dignity, comfort was prioritised at all
times and I was kept up to date and fully informed. The death was sadly expected but planned for in advance and the local GP visited regularly. There was attention to detail in his care and mine. I cannot praise the manager and her team enough. It helps the grieving process so much knowing that your loved one received the best care available to them when they needed it the most. As a nurse myself I have very high standards but Astbury did not disappoint. Look no further: this is a superb care home.

Our friend has been in Astbury Mere since 8th November. Previously she had been in a different care home but wasn’t happy with the size of the room. The care she is getting is outstanding and responses to any of my questions are answered within hours. The staff are very accommodating and very caring
and our friend is more than happy with her lovely spacious room which includes an en-suite wet room. She says the food is delicious and she has the option of eating in the dining room or in her own room. We have no hesitation in recommending Astbury Mere to anyone. Thank you to everyone.

Hello, my name is Emma, and I have worked at Astbury Mere since we opened in 2010.


I am a registered general nurse and that is where my career with Porthaven Care Homes began. Over the past thirteen years, I have progressed with the company, becoming deputy and home manager.


I have an excellent team working alongside me, and we work as one unit to support our wonderful residents and their families, as well as each other. I am incredibly proud when people describe Astbury Mere as a 'happy home'.

I have been a chef for 24 years since I left school. I have worked in AA rosette standard restaurants and endeavoured to bring that standard into the care setting. I have an NVQ level 3 in Professional Cookery and a Level 3 in Food Hygiene. My family are all in the hospitality industry so it is in my blood.

Hello, my name is Dawn Robson, and I am the Home Trainer here at Astbury Mere.


I have worked in the care sector for over 30 years, and I have worked at Astbury Mere for 12 years. I have a Level 3 qualification in Education and Training, am trained in Dementia Care Mapping and have acquired many other qualifications over the years that I use in my role.


As a home trainer, I source and help provide any training that is required within our home so that our team can continue to learn and grow in confidence and experience. Alongside this, I support our residents in a way that enables them to maintain their independence, which I find incredibly rewarding.
