I found the environment, ambience and facilities superb. I am here for respite and will be sorry to leave in about 3 weeks to resume living in my flat. The staff are exceedingly helpful and kind. My only criticism is the very poor telephone connection for my mobile. My comment on food must be taken
into account that I have a very restricted diet.

I felt like we must say a big thank you to all the staff at Astbury Mere, they have been amazing during the past ten months, as my husband has only been with them during the unprecedented circumstances. They have all worked so hard to keep the residents safe and manage, be them short, visits once a
week. It was a big decision to make for me and my family but they have provided peace of mind for us, the best care possible.

I arrived at Astbury Mere November 2018 straight from a long stay in the hospital (4 and 1/4 months) as I had lost the use of both of my arms, voice following a very serious surge flare up I'm my progressive MS. I had lived in the area for 38-years and only Astbury Mere and one other home being the
only two placements available following a temporary stay in a care home in the area. I decided to choose Astbury, but I needed to get back to my home, however, I could not feel safer anywhere else. 5-stars to Astbury during covid-19, but I ham/am enjoying life here. Compassionate care, quality support, which we need. I look forward to many years with our Astbury family.

Our dearly missed mum was a resident at Astbury Mere for only a short time at the beginning of this year but the difference in her was incredible. To say she had a new lease of life for two short months is an understatement, also considering how poorly she was when she became a resident. Every part
of the process from first contacting the home to mum's departure was exemplary. All of the staff are marvellous, kind, thoughtful, professional, and above all empathic to residents' needs along with their families'. Witnessing the attention residents received and their interaction with the staff was heartwarming. As a family, we will be forever in debt for the care mum received and the support we were afforded.

My mum moved to Astbury during the pandemic. Despite the restrictions, it is extremely clear how well cared for my mum is. I feel the staff show genuine care and respect. It is heartbreaking not being able to see her, but I gain so much comfort from knowing how well cared for and supported she is. It
was recently my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary, and the staff could not have arranged anything better under current guidelines.

This has been a very difficult year since the covid virus took hold. I am pleased that no one at Astbury Mere actually became ill, due to the virus, protected by the measures put in place. However, these measures to dementia patients were particularly good. We have noticed a vast change in my brother,
which has been hard to see, and I am in no doubt that other residents have suffered likewise. I am, however, very grateful to the staff who have worked very hard to help my brother and others, and I know that care will continue in the more recent lockdown.

My husband spent two weeks in Astbury Mere for respite care. Due to covid restrictions, he had to isolate in his room for the duration of his stay, so was unable to mix with residents or enjoy the activities which would normally be available. However, I was quite happy that he was safe and would receive
good care in lovely surroundings. In the future, hopefully, the situation will have improved, and he will be able to enjoy the home to its full extent.

The care at Astbury Mere is excellent. The staff are extremely caring and thoughtful. They are always professional and are constantly striving to do their best for the patient. They understand how hard it is for relatives and offer them reassuring support. The environment is modern, clean and inviting.

I would highly recommend Astbury Mere. It is such a lovely care home with truly amazing staff who are all very attentive and extremely kind. My dad is happy, settled and so well cared for. He has a beautiful room with a wonderful view, superb care, high quality fresh and tasty meals which he thoroughly
enjoys.
The staff communicate really well and keep me up to date, nothing is too much trouble for them. The staff all seem to get on with each other really well and there is a great sense of community which my dad has been welcomed into and now feels very much a part of.
Now that my dad can no longer live at home due to his complex care needs I wouldn't want him to be anywhere else other than Astbury Mere, 10* rating from me!

Only at Astbury Mere three weeks. The building is well maintained and private and public rooms are attractively decorated and furnished. As this was my first experience of this type of living, I have found the transition quite hard. However, both management and support team have encouraged my integration
with others. Good range of trips out. Menus are varied and tasty.

Overall, this is a fabulous care home where I have been a resident for the past nine months. During this time, I have had many visitors, and without exception, my visitors have said that this is the best care home that they have ever visited. In particular, I would highlight the fact that I have found

Mum has been nursed here for a year and a half. I have never had to make any kind of complaint. The home seems well-staffed and managed. Mum is looked after with such kindness, high quality of care and respect. As a retired nurse myself, I could not ask for such a lovely end of life care. The staff
keep me well informed of changes; big or small. The home is beautifully kept and as a relative, I'm made to feel very welcome whatever time of day.

Mum's move into Astbury Mere Care Home has been handled carefully, professionally and sympathetically. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and put her at ease the moment we arrived. It is a bright, clean and beautifully decorated home. Mum is delighted with her room and the view across the garden
and nearby road. She enjoys the variety of spaces in the home allowing her the company of others, craft activities, or a quiet moment of peace as she wishes.

Mum improved once a resident at Astbury Mere.
She no longer needed her legs dressing as they healed. Her diabetes was improved and insulin reduced to x1 daily! She was very happy whilst at Astbury Mere.
All the care staff were amazing and very helpful.

Hello, my name is Emma, and I have worked at Astbury Mere since we opened in 2010.


I am a registered general nurse and that is where my career with Porthaven Care Homes began. Over the past thirteen years, I have progressed with the company, becoming deputy and home manager.


I have an excellent team working alongside me, and we work as one unit to support our wonderful residents and their families, as well as each other. I am incredibly proud when people describe Astbury Mere as a 'happy home'.

Hello, my name is Andrew Crutchley, and I am the Head Chef here at Astbury Mere.


I have been a chef for 24 years since I left school. I have worked in AA rosette standard restaurants and endeavoured to bring that standard into the care setting. I have an NVQ level 3 in Professional Cookery and a Level 3 in Food Hygiene. My family are all in the hospitality industry so it is in my blood.


I have an eight-year-old daughter, and I spend as much time with her as possible teaching her to bake and giving her skills for the future

Hello, my name is Dawn Robson, and I am the Home Trainer here at Astbury Mere.


I have worked in the care sector for over 30 years, and I have worked at Astbury Mere for 12 years. I have a Level 3 qualification in Education and Training, am trained in Dementia Care Mapping and have acquired many other qualifications over the years that I use in my role.


As a home trainer, I source and help provide any training that is required within our home so that our team can continue to learn and grow in confidence and experience. Alongside this, I support our residents in a way that enables them to maintain their independence, which I find incredibly rewarding.
