My beloved dad lived at Bradbury Grange for four years, one month, and ten days. I am deeply grateful to all the staff for the skilled care, love, and friendship he received. It's hard having a much loved parent in a care home but Bradbury is an open home with visits welcomed at any time. It has regular
volunteers and activities to keep all enthusiastic and engaged, even if just observing as dad often would. Dad was very much part of their community. He enjoyed many afternoons in the beautiful garden with its family of squirrels and also on the beach, enjoying fish and chips whilst watching the sailboats and passers-by. Bradbury is very much a family home; its' residents, its' staff, its' relatives and friends, and its' volunteers.
Together, creating a warm environment where residents' individuality and uniqueness is understood and embraced.

Bradbury Grange has been marvelous at allowing 1:1 garden visits with my mother, which we have enjoyed so much. This is on comfortable chairs with a pagoda as shade. My mother also had her breakfast brought outside as she had woken late! I feel she is being well looked after, always looks well dressed,
and is extremely well fed!

My father has been at Bradbury Grange for almost 4 years. He has always been happy and well settled. Bradbury Grange has had problems with managers, including a disastrous one in 2018/19 when the home suffered a huge setback. However, the latest manager is absolutely fantastic and has totally turned
the culture, morale and atmosphere around in the home. The manager and her team have made Bradbury such a happy and fun place to be - any excuse for a party. Times have been very difficult for all of us in the last few months but it has been a huge relief to know that my dad has been so well looked after by such a competent management team and wonderful, dedicated team of carers.

Bradbury Grange offers a first class service to all their clients. The way they have all managed through the Covid 19 crisis is very good. Relatives and friends have been able to see their relatives/friends through well organised distance meetings outside in the courtyard. Skype calls for those unable
to go outside are also available.
All the staff have been excellent.

My wife has been a resident at Bradbury Grange for over two and a half years. During that time I have visited her regularly and have kept in touch with her during lock-down., mostly by telephone. I have virtually always been impressed by the care and attention given to her by all levels of staff,
with only occasional minor lapses.
I should add that, I have myself recently spent eight weeks at Bradbury Grange recovering from an operation and the care and friendly help I received when there were many things I could not cope with myself were exceptional. This also meant that I saw the staff dealing with other residents, some of whom were very difficult,, with virtually unfailing patience and friendliness - I don't think that I could have managed this. I believe that the friendly and happy atmosphere comes down through the staff from the management.
I am also very impressed by the safety precautions which have been in force at The Grange throughout the Covid19 epidemic.

My father has been a resident at Bradbury Grange for two years. In that time his Vascular Dementia has progressed and he is now in the later stages of the disease. He therefore needs complete care, including personal hygiene, feeding and mobility. All of the staff are amazing and treat all residents
with dignity and respect. This includes all of the staff, not only the carers. The manager, admin staff, housekeeping, kitchen staff and volunteers have a vested interest in all the residents. When you contact the home or visit they are all so caring and friendly to residents and relatives alike. I feel at home there and it was obvious from the onset that my father was happy there too. The rooms are homely with en-suite bathrooms. Residents are free to stay in their rooms but are encouraged to mix in the communal lounges and garden and take part in a host of activities. During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the staff have been fantastic keeping our loved ones safe. It's the best home.

Mum arrived at Bradbury Grange in difficult circumstances on the day the Coronavirus lockdown took effect and following the closure of her previous care home. Consequently, no one in the family has yet been able to physically enter the building. Despite these difficulties at what is an unprecedented
time for all of us, the staff at Bradbury Grange have done their utmost to make mum's life in her new surroundings as comfortable and as happy as they possibly could be. They have also gone the extra mile by putting in place arrangements whereby families can visit their loved ones in safe and socially distanced surroundings. This has been beneficial for the well-being of the residents as well as the families themselves. I for one have appreciated receiving the regular "letter to relatives", which has provided up-to-date information on developments within Bradbury Grange including safeguarding against Covid-19.

This is a wonderful care home, set in beautiful grounds. Most importantly the staff are caring, attentive and kind. Mum moved into the home in the middle of March 2020 and the care home manager went out of her way to make that possible. Mum's room has an en-suite WC and shower and a view of the garden.
Most touchingly, the staff had put a potted orchid in the room as they had heard Mum was originally from Singapore and wanted her to feel welcome.
Covid-19 has made this an extremely challenging time for the home and worrying time for residents and relatives. Bradbury Grange has done everything possible to keep their residents and staff safe and the relatives informed. They have often been ahead of Government advice in their procedures. Recently I've been having regular socially distanced visits with my Mum in the garden. It is also possible to Skype.
Mum reports that the food is all home-cooked and of a good standard. She particularly enjoys the cakes and desserts!

My uncle lived at Bradbury Grange for 18 months and my mother has been there for two years. The staff are friendly, professional, hardworking and caring. The activities are good but another leader is needed and the budget increased. My mother is very contented, well-fed and secure there. I have got
to know many staff well and always feel welcome. I was very pleased a carer was giving everyone fruit.

My mother had a fall in her room one Saturday night in August and suffered a head injury. She was attended to by a staff member immediately and the '999' call made and then I was phoned. Being a busy night, I arrived well before the ambulance crew.
I witnessed incredible care, kind attention, unruffled
efficiency and calm from the night staff, whilst awaiting medics. There were always two staff in the room. One was on the floor supporting and caring for my mum, whilst the duty manager prepared everything necessary (i.e. medical notes, night bag) in readiness for the possibility of hospitalisation.
When the medics arrived, they gave her a thorough examination, her wound was cleaned and dressed and thankfully, a hospital visit was deemed unnecessary.
Throughout this, all staff demonstrated their kindness, care and compassion. I am very happy with the standard of day to day care but, after this, I am even more reassured that I made the right decision in choosing Bradbury Grange for my mum.

My elderly mother moved to Bradbury Grange in July 2018. She had been living in supported living but following several falls needed a higher level of care. She sadly declined during her 7 months living at Bradbury Grange and died in January 2019. The care home staff provided excellent care to my mother,
especially during the last month of her life when she needed a lot of extra care. The staff were very attentive and kind in their care and showed a lot of understanding. They were also very supportive of the family during this period.
The only problems I have observed are at senior management level with a high turnover of senior managers. Staff did not always appear supported by senior management and there was a lack of admin support.

A very professionally run care home. The staff are exceptional - all very caring and considerate. Everything provided from food, laundry, medication and entertainment is first class.
Whatever the staff get paid - it is nowhere near enough.
They are truly first class.

Bradbury Grange is friendly but generally short staffed.
The staff are excellent but clearly have problems due to short staffing.
Food is generally good and plentiful but sometimes awful (overcooked for example).
The ground floor lounge always smells bad.
Residents' feedback, meetings with management,
not clear at present.
Lack of outings (due to lack of staff).

We have recently reviewed our staffing levels and are working above the required staff to resident ratio. We have also undertaken a successful recruitment campaign and have had a number of new starters join us. We will look at the food offered and will undertake a survey of the food and dining experience and will make any improvements that we can. Our Home Manager has an open-door policy and encourages time with residents and families and we do hold regular meetings.

From my initial visit, I was really impressed with the care team (including everyone from admin to maintenance), who were all friendly. I saw them treat residents in a familiar manner, but with great respect. If the team are not right, it doesn’t matter how nice the building is. However, the house is
lovely too. The lounges and quiet seating areas are all used, residents are in their own rooms, only if they wish to be. There is a lovely, proper garden, with seating areas and a summer house. The bedrooms are large, all have an en-suite wet room, and the furniture is of an excellent quality. (I have visited many homes, and this is by no means universal).
I have every confidence that my husband is really well looked after, better than I can do myself because he has a whole team now! The care is really person-centred. I am very thankful that I found this excellent home.

The staff at Bradbury Grange are diligent, caring and kind. They provide individual attention to detail, treat residents with respect. They follow up requests from relatives and are always courteous. They are however rushed off their feet, especially at weekends. There are not enough staff.

Kim

Kim Saint

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2022

Bradbury Grange's dedicated team is led by Home Manager Kim Saint who brings over 40 years of care expertise. Kim joined in November 2022 and has since transformed the home into the vibrant, welcoming place it is today. Her leadership inspires the team daily - from Janine’s pub quiz fundraisers at the local Neptune pub to Olivia’s lively activities, to Ann, who has been part of the MHA family for an incredible 44 years.


Paula

Paula Hardisty

Job Title: Administration Manager

Joined: 2019

Paula has been the Administration Manager at Bradbury Grange since 2019. She enjoys her role, in particular using her skills and experience to solve any issues as they occur. One of the best aspects of her job has been getting to know both the residents and staff.


Previously Paula was in the Women’s Royal Army Corps and also worked for the MOD and Kent Police in the Criminal Justice Unit.


She has two grown up children, enjoys coastal walks with her dog Oscar and socialising with friends.


Garry

Garry Harris

Job Title: Housekeeper

Garry was a self-employed plasterer for 47 years before joining MHA to work as Housekeeper at Bradbury Grange where he leads the team of domestic and laundry assistants.


Working at Bradbury Grange has been the best possible change for Garry. He enjoys every aspect of his role and has real job satisfaction by being able to help or change any aspect of the residents’ day.


In his spare time, Garry enjoys relaxing with a game of golf and travelling with his wife Michelle.


Olivia

Olivia Galvin

Job Title: Activities Co-ordinator

Joined: 2023

After completing her education in health and social care, Olivia joined Bradbury Grange as a care assistant before moving into her current role. As an activity coordinator, she enjoys taking residents out, having a laugh with them and making sure they are happy and comfortable.


“In the two years I have worked here, it has taught me a lot, especially on how to stay patient, calm and most importantly look after the needs of the residents. When I first started, I was immediately looked after and I want to credit all those who gave me help, advice and allowed me to shadow them. I love working at MHA Bradbury Grange, it's a great place to work and I like being the youngest at the home.
