I would like to say a big THANK YOU to the management and staff for their efforts in improving Lydgate Lodge over the past three months. When I visited my mother at Lydgate Lodge she had really enjoyed her day. The residents had been baking and decorating the buns they had made and she looked so happy.
Her day got even better when it was her turn (all residents have a turn) to enjoy a special meal. It was 'steak night' and the kitchen staff and staff had gone to great lengths to make it special, complete with an entertainer. The cafe had been turned into a restaurant and when I left they were enjoying a shandy and a good laugh. Management and staff are really working hard to make life good at Lydgate with many activities. I drove home with a big smile on my face that said, thank you.

I have enjoyed my experience here so far. All the carers are lovely and I am well looked after. We get well fed. All the rooms are nice and they get looked after.

More stimulation is required for residents as a lot of the time they are sat about sleeping. They could do with more cleaning operations. More eye to details, the staff try really hard.

Due to the new activities schedule the residents are very active, however, some do like to take a power nap, as is their choice. As with any visitor to the home, we recognise that they only see a very small window as to what is happening at any given time and so invite people to spend the day with us, enjoy a meal and partake in activities so that they get a real ‘flavour’ as to what daily life is about. With regards the cleaning activities, some of our residents enjoy daily chores such as hoovering their rooms, dusting, washing up and preparing drinks, and we support them to do so, if they wish. Our manager at Lydgate Lodge will be in contact with you directly regarding your comments. The new manager has made a big difference to Lydgate, the atmosphere is much better and seems more homely. The home is much brighter and seems livelier. Any issues that arise I know that they will be dealt with in a caring professional way, and that I can trust the manager to have my mothers best interests
at heart.
It is a big relief to know that my mum is in good hands. I know it is still early days but I am sure Lydgate is going to be one of the best homes in Yorkshire, if not the UK. Thanks to everyone for making my mum's 100th birthday such a success.

After checking various homes in the local area. I was very impressed on my first visit to Lydgate Lodge. I arranged respite for my partner and that has turned into permanent residency. The building is very spacious and airy in all areas, very clean and no smells as in most care homes. The staff are
very friendly, caring and also very professional. I don't think I could find a better place to cater for my partners needs. I am so pleased I found Lydgate Lodge.

The overall standard of care is extremely good and the carers are excellent. However there is sometimes a lack of attention to detail, eg. call button, telephone, books and magazines left out of reach/ out of sight of residents who are immobile.
This hasn't, thankfully, caused a problem so far as we
are aware, but could potentially. Communication could be better but this matter seems to be in hand under the new manageress.
Likewise, hopefully there will be an improvement in activities offered - both in variety and consistency. It would be nice if e.g activities menus, services available were communicated via the website and via newsletters etc.

Great home and fantastic staff that are very caring to my mother. Always a smile and welcome and available to discuss anything with you. We have noticed a big change since October 2015 and the atmosphere is very friendly and the staff appear much happier.

This is the first evaluation form completed since my Mum went into Lydgate, so long overdue. I have had to initiate two review meetings within this period, both of which seemed satisfactory. Generally Mum is content with everything although complains about having to wait long periods for toilet etc.
Staff seem very nice on the whole, some more attentive than others. Housekeeping not always good enough in room. Issues raised are not always dealt with or maintained and I am still flagging the same things after 2 years. All that said it is a pleasant home with a nice atmosphere. More evaluation opportunities needed.

I have been highly satisfied with the care and support my father has received since his admission in October 2015. In particular the facilities, furniture, fixtures of the building are excellent. My father really enjoys the food he is provided and has put on weight! concerns I do have is the fact that
'confused' residents can wander in and our of other residents rooms, taking items that do not belong to them. I do not feel there is always enough staff members around and I have never met the manager! Communicating any issues in relation to my father is haphazard and no clear consistent process to do this.
