I have found the home friendly, homely and staff very friendly. Nothing is to much trouble for them. They are always friendly and have a smile on their faces. It is always clean and has a pleasant small. My mother has settled well and likes it and that makes me feel we have put her in the right care
home.

My Dad has been in Abbey Court for 18 months and during this time I have witnessed the best of care at all times. I feel the staff here deserve a gold medal. My Dad can be a handful at times but is always treated with the utmost respect and his dignity considered at all times. I am absolutely thrilled
that my Dad became a permanent resident at Abbey Court.

My Mother has been in this home for over 5 years and has been extremely well cared for over the entire time. She celebrated her 100th birthday in the home which, were it not for the care she has received, she would certainly not have made this milestone.
The staff are very friendly and supportive.
There is always a smile and a warm welcome in Mum's unit.

I have always found carers and cleaners to be helpful and pleasant to the residents. They smile which I think is important to the residents and nothing is too much trouble. I am very happy with the way my husband is looked after.

Dad received excellent care on Bluebell lounge. They are a good team. The staff are very understanding of dementia care.

The home takes good care of my Wife. But there needs to be more permanent staff, there are too many temps.

Words can’t express how happy we are with the care given. Staff very friendly and always welcome you. They are interested in the service user and also their family. Only want the best for them and will go out of their way to make them feel secure. Security 10/10 very impressed. It’s one big happy family
and everyone are welcome.

Searching for a residential home is a worrying experience. My wife has dementia as well as a number of other ailments. When we found Abbey Court we could not believe our luck. The home is big, very clean and has outstanding staff from reception to the carers. The rooms are of a good size and very clean
as is the social area. The staff are always available for help and advice, nothing seems to trouble them, with plenty of parking spaces and a car, a cleanliness certificate, it has put my worries for my wife of 62 years at rest.
I would strongly recommend contact if the need is there.

Food Problem. Residents don't need foreign names as they ask us 'what is it?'. Even I don't know, and the worst is no puddings much at dinner. Today, pudding was a doughnut. I have told them time and time again, they say it's summer and need lighter things. This is disgusting for what you pay,
would they have a doughnut for pudding? Sometimes it is Eaton Mess. Odd times it is sponge pudding. Old people are used to sponge and custard, apple pie and custard, jam roly poly etc, but it's like talking to a brick wall. The best lady is leaving. Not pleased with the new lady and wish the other lady would stay. She understood the staff need treating better. No wonder they leave.

My father had dementia and all the staff on west wing from the nurses to the cleaners and everyone in between were amazing. They always made me feel welcome and I never felt a question was ever silly. I cannot thank them enough for the care and love they showed my dad before he passed away.

From September 2016 the care and treatment received was found wanting and as a family we were not happy with the level of care which we reported to management.
There appears to be a lack of management to understand the needs and concerns of the residents and well as the relatives concerns.

This care home is of a very high standard. The menu is a lot to be desired considering all very elderly and only used to meat and two veg!
Not enough staff on duty at one time. The ones that are usually run ragged. Not good enough for very poor wages.
Sometimes they are not treated well by the Team
Leader. That is why they don't stay.

Care home is satisfactory in general. Latest manager has made changes. Meals are generally good but times of meals, erratic. Water is usually available in a jug in residents room but not always. En suite adequate but could have been larger and we had plumbing issues. Majority of staff are hardworking
and dedicated and as asset to the home. Our concern is occasional night nurses not patient friendly and cause anxiety in residents. Trips out getting more regular which is great but local trips better than long journeys. Biggest concern is loneliness. No regular time for personal interaction.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.170)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.170) out of 10 for Abbey Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Abbey Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (29 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.42 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey Court Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.6 = 0.17

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
