A lovely care home. The staff are very welcoming and understanding. All the rooms are decorated to a high standard and kept clean.


My mum settled in well and her needs are met by the friendly carers. She is encouraged to join in activities but chooses not to and her preference is accepted.

My mother has been resident at Hawthorn Court since 2013. As with most people having to find residential care for their loved ones, it is always a difficult time with severe misgivings. In my own experience, I have a great deal of involvement with elderly person residential care and nursing homes. It
was, therefore, with particular apprehension that we entrusted our mother into Hawthorn's care. I have observed how the friendly and informed interaction with all of the residents, has enabled staff to differentiate quickly between mood and behaviour changes. In my mother's case, this has enabled an early identification of health problems that have consequently been quick to resolve. The calm and friendly way that support with personal and intimate needs, has avoided her reacting negatively to being assisted. In her moments of lucidity, she manages to express how happy she is to be there and when she asks to go home, she means to the security of her room at Hawthorn. Creating a positive environment is a team effort, and good teamwork requires good leadership.

Staff all very friendly. It's a shame staff are so rushed off their feet, sometimes, even just a little bit of chat goes a long way for the residents who sit for hours in between their relatives visiting. Some don't have anyone at all. Having has past dealings with care homes, however, I'd say Hawthorn
Court has to be one of the best.
It's a hard decision to make putting a relative into a care home. I would recommend Hawthorn Court.

Thank you for your review; we value all feedback as this helps us improve our service where required. We are sorry that you feel the staff are sometimes rushed off their feet, however, our staffing levels are based on Resident dependencies. This is monitored daily and supported with a minimum of two walk arounds by the Home Manager to ensure that staffing levels can support Resident needs. We certainly encourage staff to sit and have chats with our Residents as often as possible, although care intervention must take priority. At busy times it may seem that staff are rushed however this is to ensure they meet all the Residents' needs in a timely manner. The Home Manager visits Residents throughout the day stopping to chat with them, relatives, friends and professional visitors, and our Wellbeing Coordinator ensures a program of planned daily activities is available. Thank you for your kind comments and recommendation of our home, Hawthorne Court, we are very proud of our staff team who strive to deliver quality kind care to all our Residents.

Words cannot express how I feel about the care my mother received in her 4 years at Hawthorn Court. Wonderful, caring staff. Fantastic care. A true five-star facility. Not only did they make Mam's last few years a pleasant experience they also made the family feel as friends.


The manager and her

team are truly wonderful folks who genuinely care.


Mam could not have wished for a better place to spend her twilight years. Immaculate premises and fantastic staff!

Hawthorn Court provides a warm, comfortable and relaxed environment with excellent facilities and activities. residents are well looked after by friendly and helpful staff, which helps to create a family type atmosphere. Dad went into the home in April but was diagnosed with a terminal illness in May. Everyone in the home was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, whatever dad needed, they got him. The care they gave to dad was brilliant, everything was in his best interest and comfort -
whether it was changing
meals, upgrading his bed, keeping him clean and shaved, making him laugh. They really cared about and it shows. Not only were they good with dad when things were difficult but they also looked after us, the family. We can't thank them enough.

I am very happy with the care that my Mum receives at Hawthorn Court. The carers are all pleasant and helpful and management is very efficient. All questions and requests are dealt with promptly and well. The rooms and lounges are all comfortable and clean with lovely views over the gardens and footpaths
where my Mum can see families passing on their way to and from school etc. It is very reassuring to know that my Mum is safe, happy and well cared for.

The staff are very caring and considerate and provide a good atmosphere for the residents. My mother in law is relatively happy here at Hawthorn Court in Hebburn and seems to interact with the carers ok. She is kept neat and tidy although I think she could benefit from more baths which she does love.
I realise this is down to staff availability and a number of residents in the home.


A few of her belongings do go missing from time to time and the staff do make an effort to find them. I realise this is due to the nature of some of the residents. All in all, I am satisfied with her care.

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate all feedback received as it helps us to improve our service where required. The health and well-being of all our residents is of paramount importance to us; baths and showers are undertaken to the preference of the individual and this is written in care plans. Our staff will always offer residents baths or showers and encourage them to take them when they are reluctant to do so. Because of the nature of their ailment, some residents may inadvertently take things which do not belong to them. Our staff are vigilant and supportive in returning items to the rightful owners when this does occur. We also have a lost property where items that are not named can often be found. The Home Manager operates an open door policy and would welcome the opportunity to assist you with any concerns you may have regarding the care of your loved one.

Excellent staff and accommodation. Since Dad has been in the home we have not really had any complaints. You are always made welcome and staff are on the ball if there is anything wrong with Dad and they get straight in touch. They have done everything in their power to make dad welcome and comfortable.

Our mam is happy and well cared for. Staff are generally attentive and caring, Mam likes them.
Mostly when we raise issues they are dealt with but occasionally it takes a few reminder e.g lost glasses. Staff try their best to keep her room clean it is well kept.
On the whole, we feel happy that mam
is here and we would recommend it highly to others.
