Ravensdale is a 20-bed care home in Whinmoor, Leeds, that supports adults living with complex health and care needs.

It’s part of Exemplar Health Care, one of the country’s leading nursing care providers.

Ravensdale isn’t your typical nursing home. It supports people whose needs are often considered ‘too complex’ for mainstream care settings.

The home has a trained team of Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and Activities Coordinators, working across two nurse-led units.

- Bluebell Unit supports older working-age adults (50+) with a primary neurological diagnosis, such as brain injury, dementia, or Parkinson’s disease, alongside one or more secondary diagnoses or co-morbidities. Bluebell has a strong history of supporting people who’ve experienced one or more failed placements, providing stability, consistency, and person-centred care to meet their changing needs.

- Foxglove Unit supports older adults (60+) with a primary dementia diagnosis, alongside a secondary brain injury, mental health, and/or physical disability diagnosis. The environment on Foxglove is thoughtfully designed in line with the University of Stirling’s dementia-friendly guidelines, creating a home that promotes comfort, independence, and wellbeing.

Each unit features communal dining and living spaces, accessible bathrooms, and personalised bedrooms.

The home also has an activities hub, sensory room, and large accessible garden, encouraging people to take part in social activities.

Care at Ravensdale focuses on supporting people to lead fulfilled lives, with a range of activities, entertainments, and trips out.

My mum has been in Ravensdale Care Home for just over five months now and I am so glad she was placed here. The staff are so caring and always there to help with her every need. My mum is 95 and has dementia and all I wished for her was a place where she was comfortable and cared for as I couldn't do
it all myself. She has this and so much more.

A close friend of our family was moved over to Ravensdale Care Home from another home. His care needs couldn't be met by the other provider.
Since moving over, we have seen such a change in his mental health.

My aunty was admitted due to complex care after many other homes couldn't manage her. It started with the visit, the lovely manager was knowledgable and so approachable and she and her team were available at the weekend. It was a very positive visit and I knew this was the right environment. The home
is warm and welcoming. The team and other staff always appear happy and you can always hear laughter everywhere in the home. My aunty settled immediately and I have never seen her as well and content. The home is clean with no smells and the food is lovely and appears homemade. I was astonished when I visited to always see the same people and I have not seen any agency which is reassuring. I would recommend this home to anyone as my aunty is so happy and content as well as feels like part of the family. She knows everyone by name which is lovely and I feel confident when I leave that she is well cared for.

My dad came to Ravendale in June 2023. He moved from another home due to his needs becoming more complex. We were nervous about the move but now he is here, it's the best decision we have made for him. He always looks happy, clean and content. The team are wonderful, so happy and jolly, they clearly
love their jobs. They are always so welcoming. We feel so content with Dad being here.

My dad has been a resident at Ravensdale for four months now and whilst we have lots to worry about with is health we are confident in the care he is receiving. The staff from day one have been supportive to not only my dad but to all of our family. They really do go the extra mile and it is very much

I like how the carers interact with my grandad. In particular, I like how much patience they have with him. I like the fact you can decorate your room as you wish and request food that you like. I also think he has plenty of opportunities to go out and join in activities if he wishes.

The care team work hard to make sure my wife is cared for every day. The nursing team have put time and effort into understanding my wife's medical needs, as well as her care requirements. I have been delighted to see my wife settle and be happy to be a resident at Ravensdale. At the initial stage,
managers said my wife should feel at home on-site, which has been delivered.

My dad wanted to end his days at home but sadly this was not possible. Consequently, my dad was not a willing resident. We really did not want Dad going into any care home either.
I had quite a few conversations with the manager who understood the family’s concerns. She also understood the impact
it had on the family having to put our dad in a home against everyone’s wishes. I had many sleepless nights over this.
I can honestly say our fears were all unfounded. My dad was treated with great respect, care, compassion and dignity. Anything we asked for Dad was provided. He was kept clean and his dietary needs catered for. I didn’t lose any sleep over how Dad was treated or cared for. Staff were very helpful, respectful and polite and I have no doubt this was always the case when family were not around.
The manager's door was always open if I needed to talk. She is very knowledgeable, understanding, lightens the mood, but also compassionate.

Very clean, very friendly staff who are lovely and caring. Have never seen my auntie so well. I am so happy my auntie is well looked after. It made my day seeing her so happy and looking very well thanks again.

Had our quarterly review today with the nurse and advocacy support. A special mention to the Advocacy Support lady for her extra input to my dads care at Ravensdale. Ideas and suggestions she gave were a great help.

Having looked at numerous care homes, this one is top of the list, my sister has been a resident since the beginning of December 2018. Such a wonderful, warm, welcoming, friendly atmosphere.


All the staff are understanding, very helpful and always friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble.


My

sister is very happy here and feels very much at home. The staff are very professional and attentive towards my sister's needs.


The facilities are exceptional and the food is delicious, having sampled it numerous times myself.


The management team are alway son hand to help with any problems.


My mum and I are so happy to have found this place, it is absolutely wonderful.
