My mother in law was admitted at Oak House for respite while my wife and myself were on Holiday, she has dementia. When we arrived home and visited I could not believe what a run down dump this place is. Everything looked filthy, I could see straight away that is why the food hygiene notice on the door
is was 1 - 2 stars. Every time I did visit my mother in law was always on her own, the staff don't seem to bother with the patients they are all more interested in going out for a fag. That shows in the garden area when we have gone outside with fag ends everywhere. The last time I was there the staff offered my father in law and myself a coffee, what a mistake, the cups they gave us looked as if they had just come up from a coal mine, black and dirty. She started to get a little aggressive which is all part of the illness and this home advertise as dementia specialists but now wanted to get rid of her. The staff never informed us she was not taking her medication, the manager did not care less.

The care my mother is receiving from the staff at Oak House is excellent. Nothing is to much trouble and it is like a home from home. The staff are all very kind and friendly. It is good to know my mum is safe and being looked after in this way. I would recommend Oak House to anybody looking for a home
for a elderly person.

My mum-in-law stayed here recently for respite. On the two occasions, she was there staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble and all her needs were met. We had complete confidence in them and know that she was in safe hands which gave us peace of mind.

My dad has been made so welcome by the staff at Oak House. He is happy, safe and well looked after, they treat him with respect and are always available to help him should he ask for anything. The staff are so caring and helpful and make sure us, as a family, are informed of anything if it happens.
They interact well with him, and his room is always clean and tidy. All staff including the housekeepers, carers, management and kitchen staff all do a fantastic job. They all work as a team together. They make us feel as if we mean something to them and are not just another person paying for the pleasure of being looked after. It is a pleasure to spend time there and I always leave there happy knowing that my dad is safe.

My grandmother has been a resident in 2 previous care homes and I cannot express how highly I recommend Oak House. The care and compassion shown to my nan is second to none. The food is outstanding, the home is clean and well presented and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff. I really appreciate
all you've done for my nan even though she's currently in hospital.

My Mum, sister and myself could not be more pleased with Oak House, it's changed all our lives in the best way possible particularly for our Mum, who suffers from WMD, Dementia and is hard of hearing.


Mum is coming up to 97, and moved into Oak House this August, after a hospital stay. In her own

words her first impression was I am in a beautiful building and have a delightful large living room, that's now my home'. She has the full support of helpful, friendly staff, and seems more relaxed and her old self, than she has been for awhile, so all credit to everyone there for their empathy, humour and dedication to detail that Mum receives every day, at a constant high level of care and well-being.


Staff respond to arising medical issues, efficiently.


Meals are well-balanced, home cooked, and there is a good choice of menu for Mum to choose from. Encouragement is given, and there is always a welcome cuppa for her family and visitors.

A fantastic care home with excellent care workers. My nan is in the home and we have never been happier. She is very well looked after and cared for. The staff make you feel very welcome. Nothing is ever too much and feels like a home from home.

I felt it was the right time to write a review regarding the staff and manager of Oak House. I have had a few relatives in care/residential homes going back many years and none have been as friendly and dedicated as the staff here. They go out of their way for their residents, they are given a choice
of food for breakfast/dinner and tea. They are taken out around the park in good weather and are given continued exercise. My uncle's room is alway clean, tidy and smells fresh.


I cannot praise them highly enough, they go above and beyond their duty and would recommend anyone have their loved ones reside at Oak house.
I would say "keep up the good work" but you always do.

Room very messy. Food not good and no one trying to get my wife up and walking around. Room always open.

With regards to the rating of Very Poor for Cleanliness, following a discussion with the son of the Service User this issue had been resolved and he appreciated the difficulty faced by staff in respect of the wishes of the Service User, who would not always allow the housekeeping team to access to clean the room. However when the opportunity arose the room was thoroughly cleaned including the carpets. The Service User is now in ground floor accommodation and socialises more with other residents this enables the housekeeping team to access and maintain cleanliness of the room.


With regards to the rating of Very Poor for Food & Drink, following a conversation with son of Service User it was identified that this rating was not due to the quality or choice of food within the home, but due to too many biscuits from a third party source. The home manager has reviewed the dietary needs of Service User to ensure a healthy well balanced diet. A four weekly menu is available upon request.


With regards to the rating of Very Poor for Safety & Security, Service User is accommodated in a shared room and has access to a lockable cabinet.


With regards to the rating of Poor for Rooms, son confirmed that this is in relation to cleanliness.
