Belong Crewe is rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (July 2023), and brings the very latest in care and facilities for older people into the heart of Crewe.

The community village offers 12 self-contained apartments for independent living and six supported ‘households’ with modern en-suite bedrooms and open plan lounge and kitchen areas. There is also a vibrant hub for community activities, with facilities that include a licensed bistro, hair salon, therapy room and exercise studio. The village model is a stunning example of how advanced design and very high standards of care can provide a new quality of life for older people.

Belong households represent a radically different alternative to conventional care homes. Belong Crewe operate with a higher-than-average staffing ratio and a maximum of 12 residents per household, offering a family atmosphere where customers can build lasting relationships with staff and other residents.

The specially trained support and nursing staff are available around the clock to support individuals with dementia and those residents who require clinical care.

My mum has been in Belong since May 2018, and I have always been happy with the care she has received. I have only ever seen the residents treated with respect and dignity by the staff and they are consistently patient even with the most difficult residents. Following a severe stroke in December 2019,
after two weeks in the hospital, Mum returned to Belong, and I have been so impressed with how the staff have accommodated her increased care needs. In fact, as a result of their care, she has improved beyond expectations and she is happy and content. I have only praise for the care team in Britannia household.

Despite a few minor staffing level issues, meaning Dad misses out on going to the odd activity/breakfast club. Couldn't recommend more the staff, quality of care and overall welcomeness/friendliness of all aspects of Belong.

A lovely atmosphere between staff and clients noticeable as soon as you enter the building. Food in the cafe is very nice. The staff are very willing to assist if help is needed.

In the last 9 months of Dad living at Belong, we have seen such an improvement in him. We feel reassured that Dad is well looked after and his needs are met. On visiting, we are always greeted in a friendly manner by the majority of the regular staff. At times we have felt there has been some staff
shortages and the odd thing is missed, but in general, we are very happy with Dad's progress since living here.

Excellent first impression of the village. Staff very approachable and knowledgeable. Sounds like a perfect set up and we are reassured this is the place for Mum to settle and be happy. The decision of moving Mum has been made much easier as it is an enormous change for us all.

A very dear friend was a resident in Royal Scot House for nearly two years. It was very much a house with the residents receiving excellent care in a friendly setting. Every member of staff was friendly and caring. My friend was treated with love and respect and her every care need was met. I was always
welcomed when I visited and I was kept up to date with all aspect of her management. I was rung at home if there were any changes in her care and her condition. Her room was always clean and tidy and when I was there at that time I noted how thorough they were. Unfortunately, my friend wasn’t able to participate in the activities but the carers encouraged her as much as possible within her wishes. If she had arrived before she reached the point she was at, she would have loved everything offered by Belong.

I have been a resident at Belong for a short stay on two occasions and have been very happy. I couldn't find any problems. I was a little nervous about going to stay but soon felt at home after the first day.

I think the staff are all amazing. They are all so thoughtful and patient. They get to know the residents very quickly and their individual needs. I have total peace of mind that my parents are in the best place. I love the layout of the village and the freedom in each household that the residents have.

From the moment I came to Britannia House, emotionally upset about my sister becoming a resident, the staff of Britannia have been fantastic. The care, patience, love and support for my sister has been nothing short of wonderful. Additionally, they gave me lots of support and hugs as well. It is so
great that the same team members look after the residents in the household. Once my sister told me that she liked this hotel and had made new friends. Such a great place.

For the past 3 or so years, Patriot House has looked after my mother and have been brilliant. My mother soon realised that she was loved here, safe and extremely well looked after. Unfortunately, we were called across from Australia as my mother was approaching the end of life. Thankfully we were able
to spend just over four weeks with my mother before she passed. During those four weeks, all staff (throughout Belong) have been excellent and I could not have wished for any better treatment for both my wife and I, and my mother. You guys are all angels and we cannot thank you enough.

My sister and I have had a difficult time trying to find the right placement for our Mum. She started off in an apartment as she was, before this, independent in her own home, but she was lonely. Despite daily visits, she didn't settle and as a family, we were offered an alternative in a household.
She did not settle and once again staff offered an alternative in another household. They could not have done more and hopefully, Mum will settle and be happy now.

The care my aunt received in Belong in her 2 and a half years there was second to none.
All staff - carers, admin staff and management - were very friendly and always cheerful, creating a nice and uplifting atmosphere. My aunt had very complex medical needs and Belong gave her all the help she needed.
She suffered a lot of pain as she had osteoarthritis and the staff hoisted her from the chair to bed whenever my aunt requested this.
They always tried to comply with her wishes and did everything they could to keep her comfortable. There were always plenty of drinks and food available. I have been very impressed with Belong and would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

What do you want to do when you move to a care home? Walk your daughter down the aisle after 3 years in a wheelchair? Ride the world's fastest zip wire? Maybe breakfast in bed and a long lie-in is your preference? No problem! At Belong the staff work hard to make sure you are able to do what you want.
After
going to Experience Days my wife moved in for a short break. Due to dementia, our own home had become a scary place. After 3 days she asked if she could stay "I'm happy here, it feels like home". So she (and I) were welcomed into the household "family". She enjoyed every minute of her stay.
Care is first-rate with exceptional staff and a nurse on duty all of the time, but Belong goes beyond that to ensure people live a full and happy life. Village activities run all day and household activities happen spontaneously.
Some areas are open to the public so the village feels lively. Just call in at the Bistro and feel the atmosphere. One Belong even gets 5* ratings on Tripadvisor!

On 2/6/19, my mum (88 years) was admitted into Belong Crewe care home after her health deteriorated over a period of 6 weeks after being discharged from hospital. She was in a deep depression and had no interest in anything.
Mentally and physically, she could no longer be left on her own and was in
need of 24-hour care. A neighbour recommended Belong Crewe. We both visited it and were very impressed by the professionalism and standards of the home. After six weeks of mum's stay, we cannot believe the progress she has made. She is happy and comfortable and put a little weight on (much needed). Clearly, this is due to the manager and his outstanding care team in Coronation House. They are genuinely caring and professional.
My brother and I have peace of mind that mum has been the best care and attention possible.

Caroline

Caroline Anthony

Job Title: General Manager

Caroline Anthony was appointed as General Manager at Belong Crewe in April 2024, following her five-year tenure in the role of Support Manager where she consistently demonstrated her leadership skills with compassion and dedication.


Amongst the country’s first graduates for the NVQ in health and social care when originally launched, Caroline’s career took off when she secured her first care job in a local nursing home. Following a brief break she returned to work, this time for the council, providing domiciliary care in the community.


It was after joining Belong in 2016 as a senior support worker that Caroline began to develop her leadership skills, progressing to Lead Senior Support Worker and then earning her promotion to Support Manager.


As General Manager, Caroline has overall responsibility for all who work and live at Belong Crewe, whether in 24-hour care households or independent living apartments.


She operates an open-door policy and always welcomes feedback from customers and members of the wider village community as we work together to enhance wellbeing and outcomes for all in our care.

Jane Hughes

Job Title: Acting Support Manager

Jane Hughes was promoted from her role as Acting Support Manager from Village Nurse Manager in April 2024.

Job Title: Front of House Manager

Joy brings a wealth of experience to the role of Front of House Manager, having previously worked in retirement living for the past eight years. Joy started her career as a receptionist and progressed to being responsible for five schemes across Cheshire; involved in all aspects of administration, customer finances and facilities management.


Jessica

Jessica Butler

Job Title: Experience Coordinator

Nurturing home-grown talent, Belong Crewe promoted Jessica Butler to the post of Experience coordinator in June 2021.


Jessica will work with the wider village team to ensure the provision of meaningful occupation for residents of both its 24-hour care households and independent living apartments, as well as managing the Experience Day programme for customers of Belong’s specialist day care service.


Joining the team as a bistro assistant at Belong Crewe when the village first opened in 2010, Jessica has progressed with the organisation, as it quickly became apparent that her skills in connecting to customers would be highly beneficial in a care capacity.


Belong supported her learning and development to make the transition to becoming a support worker, and Jessica worked under the guidance of Belong’s Dementia Trainer as she took her Level 3 qualification. Jessica soon flourished, showing the perfect balance of empathy and positivity to bring joy and purpose to Belong’s residents and she progressed to a senior support worker.


Inspired by the value added by the Experience Day Team, Jessica later moved across to a role in this service. Already knowing the residents and their needs well, she understood how to create meaningful activities that engaged the customers on a daily basis.

Job Title: Belong at Home Area Manager

Jane joined the Belong at Home team in 2018 and has made improvements to the service during that time.


Having progressed within the organisation, from the role of Community Support Worker to Senior Community Support Worker, before being appointed to the role of Area Manager in January 2020; Jane brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. Jane has previously worked in marketing and has experience in leading teams and performance management. Jane has worked and lived in both South Africa and America and returned to the UK in 2015 after living most of her life abroad.
