As fee-paying users, the cost is 20% higher than social services funding. Therefore we are subsidising the non-fee-paying clients-unfair.
We are told the food is adequate but not exciting.
There is no in house procedure for tagging clothes and these are getting muddled with other users belongings,
but clothes are always clean and a credit to staff in this section.
Staff are carefully monitored and those we have observed not performing well, do not stay.
Improvements have been made in the past year and that the care my relative receives is very good.

Mum moved to Riverdale in January 2019, it was the best place we found when looking around for a place for mum, the entrance was bright, warm and welcoming, the receptionist was very friendly and informative. Mum has settled in very well, she's made friends and loves all the activities. The staff are
simply outstanding, they have a lot to deal with and are very busy but always have time for a smile, a chat, a laugh or a caring word. They care for the residents very much and that is very evident every day. I visit often and cannot fault the care mum receives. The home is comfortable, warm and friendly.

Riverdale Court care home, in my opinion, is the most caring, loving ad stimulating place ever. I've always had an image of a care home not being great but when nan was diagnosed with dementia and had to have 24-hour care, I was happy and content for her to be here.
Nan died recently and the love and
care they gave nan and to the family is so special. They genuinely loved nan. Thank you most sincerely to everyone at Riverdale.

When I last visited mum it was not long after she had been seriously ill and had spent some time in hospital, so I was a bit worried about how she would be. My worries were unfounded as I found her looking well and happy. As usual, the staff were excellent ensuring her needs are met and more than willing
to discuss with me how mum has been.
Two young carers also dealt extremely compassionately and discreetly with a situation that occurred with another resident. I was amazed at how the two young ladies dealt with the problem remaining cheerful and totally professional. The staff at Riverdale are truly amazing and I have had experience of some elsewhere that aren’t.

Our whole family cannot fault the compassion and care given by Riverdale. My mother recently passed away at Riverdale after living there for 10 months. The kind consideration which was given to the family who were at Riverdale for about 12 hours before the undertakers arrived was excellent. I looked
at several care homes before I choose Riverdale and I am 100% sure I made the right choice. I would especially like to thank the staff for being so wonderful.

My father was admitted due to early onset of dementia. He settled in quickly which is reassuring to the family. He is very happy. I find the staff are friendly and happy going people. Warm atmosphere.

My mother returned to the UK to be near family after living in New Zealand for many years. Respite care was arranged with Riverdale Court so she could look at other homes and choose where she wanted to live. Most of the staff were very kind, caring and helpful. Unfortunately, Riverdale Court was not
what my mother was looking for and so she moved to another facility where she is beginning to settle.
Any concerns I had, I was able to discuss with the Manager and felt reassured that he would address these in a timely manner.

My mum has only just moved into Riverdale Court but she has been made to feel at home straight away. Nothing appears to be too much trouble for any of the staff. They are all so kind and caring.


It feels like a weight has been lifted after looking for a home as lovely as this.

My mother-in-law now lives with us in our family home. She has dementia and mobility problems. In order for us to continue to work and shop etc, it was evident that we needed mum to be supervised. Finding Riverdale Court has made the experience easy. The staff are kind and very obliging. Mum enjoys
coming 3 days a week. There is lots going on and the food is very good. She is safe and well looked after.

My mum has been a resident since late December 2018. I’ve found the home to be a welcoming environment with plenty of activities for the residents. My sister and I are regular visitors and we feel Mum is well cared for, safe and settling in.

My mum came to live in Riverdale Court in November after a long spell in hospital. She has settled in well and says she is happy living there. Her room is spacious and looks homely with her collection of pictures and nicknacks arranged. Her room is cleaned daily and the staff are always keen to give
her any help she needs. Staff are plentiful and very friendly to residents and visitors alike. Residents are encouraged to join in a range of daily activities and sit down together for three meals a day. All in all, it is a lovely place with caring staff and we are really happy to have my mother living there.

After being very nervous about selecting a care home for my nan, we were so pleased to find Riverdale Court. Nan moved in August 2018 and I have been so pleased with how well she is doing. Staff are friendly and care about each resident, understanding individual needs. There is always an activity going
on which are fun and enjoyable for all. Riverdale Court has completely changed my view of elderly care and my nan could not be happier or in a better place.

Since moving to Riverdale Court, my nan is definitely more engaging and appears happier. There are always numerous staff around, either attending to residents or sat with them doing activities or chatting to them in the TV room. Unlike her previous care home where she would be left for long periods
of time by herself with no one to engage with and you’d often have to hunt for a member of staff. The staff are so much more attentive at Riverdale, interacting with all the residents, and getting to know their visitors. Overall, the vibe of Riverdale Court is much more pleasant and comfortable, for both residents and visitors.

Living in Plymouth I do not get to see my nan very often. Although she has deteriorated recently it was good to see she is being well cared for. She looked clean and tidy and the carers are very aware of what she needs. Despite her limited mobility she is encouraged to join in with the activities provided.
I am more than happy with the way nan is looked after at Riverdale.

My nan moved into Riverdale 6 months ago after living in another care home for 2 years. The only thing I’ve found disappointing so far is that we didn’t choose Riverdale from the start. My nan is a very quiet lady who doesn’t really interact well with others and she doesn’t ask for help if she needs
it but since she’s been at Riverdale I can already see a change in her. The staff have encouraged her to get involved in all sorts of activities such as knitting, fitness, singing and even cheerleading! I came across the Riverdale page about a month ago and saw so many photos of my Nan enjoying herself. It was so lovely to see because she had become so withdrawn. For the money she pays in comparison to her previous home, the level of care is outstanding. When you can’t look after a relative at home you want to know that they are being looked after by people that genuinely do care and that is quite clear to see in all the staff at Riverdale. Thank you for looking after my nan.

I am pleasantly surprised by how well my Nan has settled in. When I visit, I often have to ask where she is as she’s in different areas of the building participating in different activities, which is lovely to see. I worried she would be lonely, but the carers always fill me in on what she’s been up
to, which relatives have been to see her and how she’s been feeling. It is rare that I go in and she’s left in her wheelchair, she is usually in her chair from her home which they moved into the living area for her, sitting with other residents or talking to the staff. I was concerned that Riverdale wouldn’t be the best place for my Nan and worried about the effect it would have on her, however, I think my Grandad would be happy to see the care she is currently receiving. So far I am pleased with the home and grateful to all the staff that make her days a little better.

My mum was placed at Riverdale as she has Alzheimer’s. We hear all these horror stories about care homes and was worried sick. But wow wow wow she is loving it there and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned daily and the meals and entertainment are fantastic. I’ve told my daughter
this is where I want to go if I need to when I’m older. Well done to you all for providing such a great service. I work full time and can’t come as often as I would like but I can rest knowing she is in great hands.

Solomon Ofori

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Solomon has been working as a Senior Care Lead at Avante since 2022 and is known for his good work ethic and zest for learning. Solomon was promoted to Deputy Manager at Riverdale Court in July 2023.


Prior to joining Avante, Solomon worked in senior care roles at Nellsar Care and BUPA Care Homes at Priory Mews.


He started his career in Marketing and Customer Services and worked his way up to become a Marketing and Business Development Manager before moving to the world of social care where he completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Adult Social Care.


Solomon has a number of qualifications under his belt, including a Diploma in Marketing, a Degree in Business Administration and a Master's in Healthcare Management from Anglia Ruskin University.


Solomon enjoys reading, writing and listening to music.
