Freelands Croft is dedicated to caring for those with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs - with nursing, residential and short stay care.

There are 64 lovely rooms, and the home will always do its best to accommodate couples. Each of the comfortable en-suite bedrooms features their own accessible wet room, flat-screen TV and 24-hour nurse call system and many have views of their large landscaped gardens that wrap around the home. There are lots of places to choose from for some company or tranquillity.

Freelands Croft has four lounges, and a huge wrap-around garden is perfect for a gentle stroll. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

Residents can enjoy a bit of pampering in the hair salon or pop into the vintage-style café. The reminiscence room helps to recapture memories from the past.

Good food is so important for many reasons. Tempting meals and snacks can be enjoyed in the bright and airy dining rooms or in the comfort of the resident’s own room. Soon after a resident arrives at Freelands, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. Visiting musicians, curry and quiz nights, and musical bingo are examples of some of the activities residents can experience, alongside weekly outings, arts and crafts or coffee mornings.

All carers and staff have been really kind, they cannot do enough to help us through the transition of my husband and our family having to come to terms with my husband having to be in a care home due to Dementia. We feel truly blessed to have found Freelands Croft. Thank you all so much.

Staff and Nurses very friendly, easy to talk to even when busy. Room serviced daily and kept clean. Variety of food and drink good. I do not think in all the 15 days I was a resident, the menus for the homemade lunch or evening meals were repeated.
Attention to care/support was excellent. The variety
of activities provided, including a cinema, were good. The Coffee Pot Tea Room available for entertaining friends and visitors was much appreciated by all. Having an Activity Coordinator on hand was very useful.
The decoration on the ground floor corridors and the wall mounted photographs of residents, past and present, all helped to achieve a warm and friendly atmosphere.
My self-funded short-term stay to reduce the adverse effects of taking NHS prescribed medication over a long period of time was very expensive without any contribution from the NHS!

The staff are friendly and try very hard to help my mother to settle in, as often as she needs it. Respect is at the heart of everything that is done or planned. The residents are taken out on trips which is stimulating and helps them to live their memories as well as varying their days, which can become
stayed.
The variety of activities at the home is very varied, from birthdays to pantomimes, to visits from dogs, duck eggs to ducks, singers and harpists.

Could not adapt to losing all my freedom i.e walking unaccompanied, just going out for a short walk to attain some exercise rather than a vegetable in my room. Have lost much mobility here because of lack of anything other than sedentary occupations.

Mum came from another home where they told us she couldn't stand, walk, take part in activities, go on outings and had to drink from a beaker. Since being at Freelands Croft she has been walking and interacting with everyone. Everybody at Freelands from the management to the carers and housekeeping
staff are all amazing and very caring. Nothing is too much trouble, my husband and I are very happy she has found a lovely home.

I felt very welcome and feel safe. I feel I need more diabetic foods supplied such as custard, cakes, sugar-free drinks such as fruit juices and squash. I feel my family are welcome and actively encouraged to join in the activities.

My Grandad was in Freelands Croft Care Home for just over 5 years, unfortunately, he is no longer with us. It was a hard decision to move him into a nursing home but we realised it was for his own good due to his dementia diagnosis. Our experience of the service they provided was exemplary. The facilities,
location and most importantly the staff are excellent. They have provided my Grandad with an extremely high level of person-centred care and they have always provided myself and the rest of my family with the same reassurance that he is safe and happy and is being treated with the respect that he deserved. I cannot recommend Freelands Croft enough. The one thing my Grandad looked forward to was the weekly outings which could be to the Seaside for Fish & Chips or just visiting the local Garden Centre for Afternoon Tea.

My father who sadly passed away this week spent five and a half years at Freelands Croft Care Home. He suffered from dementia. He has the most caring passing with excellent care from all the experienced staff under the management who are first class.
During his stay, he enjoyed the food, environment
and entertainment. He was able to occupy the same room for all his 5 and a half years stay.
I am so happy that we chose Freelands Croft Care Home and would strongly recommend it. Many thanks to the management and staff over the years.

As soon as I got to Freelands, I was so welcome from day one until I left after 12 days. Everybody was so helpful and caring at any hour of the day. If there was on the menu I did not like or was able to eat, the chef would bend over backwards to get me something I would like, on odd occasions I would
be unable to eat 3 times a day.


All the staff and nurses were excellent, superb. I can't praise them enough for what they did for me. The hairdresser to the cleaners were all so excellent in every department, everybody looked after me well all the time. I am looking forward to the next time I go back for another holiday, it's so laid back that you forget they are the staff who are looking after you. Thank you very much.

I have been staying at Freelands Croft for 5 weeks respite and I have been happy, content, have been made welcome and have had a free run during my stay. I have received help and support as I have needed it and the staff are all wonderful.

I was greeted by the home manager and taken to his room by his deputy. The room was pleasant and had an en suite toilet and shower. Over the next few days I met several carers all cheerful efficient and gentle. The call button was always swiftly responded to. The cook dealt well with my special diet.
I am looking forward to my next stay at Freelands Croft.
