Salt Hill Care Centre is a modern fifty bedded nursing home, in the heart of Slough.

Catering to a variety of needs, Salt Hill offers general nursing for the elderly frail, as well as respite care and rehabilitation stays. Salt Hill staff can also provide for those requiring specialist dementia care.

The centre itself officially opened in 2011 and is equipped and furnished to an excellent standard. It is conveniently located for public transport, parks and local amenities.

Salt Hill's manager already has a well-established team, including an activity coordinator providing a stimulating and entertaining program designed to engage, amuse and to be therapeutic.

Delicious meal choices are prepared by the chef, the menu is varied, and can be catered to individual dietary requirements.

The manager welcomes all to visit, view the facilities and have an informal talk about any concerns and requirements, or call and make an appointment.

My experience at this care home has always been a positive one. Everyone here has always been welcoming and eager to help. Almost everyone knows my dad and he is very well cared for, he likes it here because of the friendly atmosphere the nurses always have brought to the care home.

My mother came out of respite and was placed into Salt Hill Care Home. From the moment I took her to reception, all the staff were so lovely which made us both smile. Due to Mum's dementia, I knew there would be good and bad days. On all our visits we have had no issues or concerns with staff, they
are very helpful and thoughtful. My father has been placed into care there now, temporarily for 4 weeks but to have peace of mind knowing they are together and being cared for 24/7 in a lovely environment. Thank you.

Special mention to the carers at Salt Hill. Always going above and beyond. I'm happy that Mum's happy and well looked after. Ultimately, it's all about the quality of care - not when the rooms were last decorated!

Staff very nice, polite, kind and thoughtful. Very understanding, need anything and are there, just sometimes need patience with me as I can't always speak properly. But food and cleanliness are great.

My mother has been in the home for just over 4 years now. The nurses and carers are always cheerful and assist her with all her needs. Always with dignity and respect. The food is good and she is able to choose what she wants to eat. Visiting is flexible at any time during the day.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.980)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.980) out of 10 for Salt Hill Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.814 for Salt Hill Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.814

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.166 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Salt Hill Care Centre is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.6 = 0.566

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
