I have lived in Kirkwood Court for about a year. It is my home and it's great, I love it. I have made lots of friends and the staff are all very nice, they look after me. I go on trips on the bus to different places. Food is lovely and I'm eating too much. I would recommend living here.

The care home is above and beyond my expectations. The staff have been amusing in their and care towards my father. We have had a difficult time of late and they have helped in every way they possibly could. The home is immaculate and the food is fabulous, I have been very happy with Kirkwood Court.
The lady on the second floor has been an absolute godsend to us all

Since my grandmother has been in Kirkwood Court she settled in very well. Care staff and management staff are wonderful and always there to help. It is a very clean and well presented. Food is excellent. I would recommend highly a really good home.

My great-uncle was very independent and became very depressed following a diagnosis of Alzheimer's as he couldn't cope on his own anymore. He eventually agreed to a week of respite care. Although we were not close I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit when he was staying at Kirkwood
Court. It wasn't until recently when I visited another care home that I realised how lucky my great-uncle had been. On my visit, I was greeted by the Manager who offered me a coffee and took me to his room. It was lovely, well decorated, clean and tidy, just like the rest of the home. He was never a joiner, and I was very surprised that he agreed to go to the dining room when a carer came to get him for tea. He looked really well and happy. There was great banter between the staff and the residents. I wanted to write a review as a thank you to the Manager and the fantastic team as this was the last time I saw my great-uncle and because of this, I can remember him at his best.

When mum went into the home we ordered 'tags' for her clothes for when they were to be laundered. She has been in the home for three months and she is still awaiting the 'tags'.
Otherwise, she seems quite happy and is now getting to know the staff.

We endeavour to supply laundry tags as soon as we have new residents but have experienced some difficulties with our current supplier, this is being investigated and we expect this to be resolved shortly. We work hard to manage residents laundry to a high standard and in this circumstance offered the family a full refund to purchase tags at their chosen supplier.

Telephone messages could be passed onto our relatives as they worry if they don't know why we aren't visiting. Apart from that, everything is fine.

Angela Douglass

Job Title: Home Manager

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Angela has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Angela joined HC-One in 2019 and closely shares the company’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Angela remarked:


“There’s nothing more rewarding in the world than knowing you have a made real difference to someone’s life”


Angela’s proudest achievement was winning a national care award for her hard work and dedication to Residents.


Outside of work, Angela enjoys gardening, shopping, spending quality time with loved ones and visiting car boot sales.
