Mum seems very settled and the staff have been great with her and very helpful with us.
Mum always has a smile on her face which gives us the confidence that she is very happy being here. Highly recommend.

This was my first experience of a temporary residential home for my mum. I was overwhelmed and indeed humbled by the care given by all the staff. I never experienced staff getting angry or short-tempered with any resident, and the kindness shown to Mum was exemplary. Her short stay turned into a much
longer one but I have peace of mind whilst she was there.

I cannot recommend Waterfield House enough. The staff are extremely professional, friendly and genuinely concerned about the welfare of all their residents. They’ve consistently gone over and above to help Mum, during her stay and have also helped me adjust to having my mum in a care setting.

My mum was in your care for 2 years and in that time she was happy, well cared for and treated with love and affection. This also gave me peace of mind knowing that she was in good hands. Thank you so much.

My knowledge of the interior of the home is limited as my husband became a resident during the lockdown and I have been unable to go inside. My husband is happy there, the staff are very good and there are organised activities, which keep him occupied some of the time. The ratings I have given should
read in the context that we have been unable to enter Waterfield House since my husband became a resident. Once the lockdown is over and I am able to visit, hopefully, my ratings will be higher still.

My experience was good. Mum settled down quite quickly when she moved in. The staff encouraged her to take up drawing again and helped her to find some purpose to her day. Mum had said on many occasions, that she was happy to stay at Waterfield House and hoped she would not have to leave. Mum experienced
a lot of kindness at Waterfield House and enjoyed meeting other residents. The staff made her feel like she belonged there.

Having had 9 years experience with first my mother, then my aunt joining her and finally this week with my aunt dying, finally my connection with the home is broken. We have never had anything but praise for the caring staff. The home is clean and tidy and there has never been any smells you get in
some homes. The food and facilities are very good. An excellent choice for anybody wanting a home for their relative.

Up until the lockdown (11th March 2020), I visited Waterfield at least three times weekly, from April/May 2019, generally from 4 pm to 7 pm. Over this period of time, one gets to know how things work and I am very content and happy that my dearest is in such good care overall. The lockdown has been
very painful, tearfully so, but I thank all the staff - everyone - at Waterfield House for their dedication and continued loving care.

The Home opened recently after nearly 3 months of lockdown. I visited my granddad this weekend and he was well looked after. He looked amazing. We are ever so grateful to Waterfield House. No Coronavirus was reported there, all credit to the hard work of the staff and the management team. Thank you
for all your sacrifice and commitment to keep granddad safe.

My grandfather was admitted last January to Waterfield House after a lot of prompting and encouragement from the family. I couldn't believe my eyes when I visited him last week. The home is now opening to garden visit and grandad is really happy there. He said his wife should also come and live there
with him! He said the place is safe and that the staff check his temperature every day and get medical help for him in an event for minor issues. It was a good visit and we left with a profound peace of heart. Waterfield House is a beautiful place.

My mother spent 11 months in Waterfield House with Alzheimer’s. She was treated throughout with the utmost kindness and respect. She was not the easiest of patients and even when her behaviour was at its most challenging she was met with unflappable and unfailing kindness. The staff showed extraordinary
levels of care as her life reached its end, for which her family will be forever grateful.

My mother has been very poorly with chest and water infections. The CTM's made sure she was eating sufficient nutritious food to help her fight infection and she, in particular, checked on a new antibiotic which would have been unsuitable. A different one was prescribed which has helped her to feel
much better.

My husband has been in Waterfield House for just over a year now. He is very happy and the staff are always friendly to him and me.
When it was his birthday I was treated to a three-course lunch with my husband which was very much appreciated and we have appeared in the latest edition of Runwood Homes
magazine. My family are very pleased with the way their dad is looked after.

The staff were consistently caring and supportive. Very welcoming to the whole family. Everyone made a real effort to make my husband feel looked after and for us to feel his needs were going to be well met.
The whole experience was very positive. Thank you to all of the team. Chair in the shower would
have been helpful.

This is my very first time at this home and on my arrival, I was very impressed with the reception and the pure cleanliness everywhere!
All the staff I met were very happy and kind. The rooms are so clean, spacious and bright. I would be very happy I think if any of my elderly relatives had to live
here.

Mum was at Waterfield House over 4 years and received the best possible care and respect. In the early years, mum fully enjoyed all the activities - knit and natter, gardening, painting, singing etc. She loved her room, especially her bathroom (which she showed us every time!) Waterfield House is light
and airy, the garden peaceful, the café a great place to bring your loved one.

Over the years and progression of mum's dementia, the staff and management became her extended family. They are very experienced, genuinely caring people and many have been there a long time. The manager was tremendous to talk to, particularly through the difficult times - the loss of dad, the ups and downs of mum’s health and finally mum’s passing. I live away, so emails, photos and phone calls were invaluable.

Having a loved one with dementia is a rollercoaster of emotions, but we knew from the start that mum was in the best hands. Thanks Waterfield House! You made mum’s autumn years the best they could possibly have been.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.710)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.710) out of 10 for Waterfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.549 for Waterfield House is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 91 Ratings = 4.549

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.161 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Waterfield House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.2 = 0.461

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
