Stonehouse Manor aims to provide the highest standards of care by treating every person using the service as an individual. Each person will have a person centred plan which provides information on their needs and know how they can meet those needs. These will be updated bearing in mind the expressed wishes of the person living at the home and will seek to make best use of the person living abilities. They will respect people's equality, diversity, human rights, dignity and personhood. Staff make a personal history and lifestyle profile for each individual and encourage families to be involved in this process by telling about what makes each resident special. Single rooms with en-suite will allow people space which encourages dignity and which can be personalized by the person occupying that room. They want bedrooms to be as individual as you are. Visiting hours are not restricted and staff encourage visits from young people. They have facilities for overnight stays for loved ones if the need arises. They will provide good nutrition by offering choices at mealtimes of wholesome foods which meet the needs and preferences of people living in the home. Drinks will be available in the cafe at all times. Staff at the home will be suitable and sufficient to meet the day to day needs of the people living at the home. They will have the appropriate qualifications, skills, experience and attitudes for their roles. All staff will have training in Dementia Care.

My sister has been in Aston Manor for a matter of weeks. In this time I have seen some improvement in her overall health, which I believe is due to the care given to her by the nurse and lovely staff. Her room is kept clean and food is of a good standard. My sister is registered blind and has dementia,
she can be quite afraid/untrusting of people who she is not familiar with because she is unable to see them. This makes it difficult for staff as she sometimes refuses to eat or have medication. This has been a worry to all of us. Family have now been encouraged to visit at mealtimes to try and ensure she will eat.

I find this home excellent. There are plenty of kind staff who all seem very caring. I have never been in the home but I understand the need for protection for residents and staff. I have had experience of 2 other homes and Aston Manor puts them to shame. I couldn't answer all the ratings because I
haven't seen some of them.

My husband was in care here for less than 5 months but I will never forget the wonderful care and patience shown to him. Sadly he passed away but I am happy that his final months were spent in such good care. A great big thank you to all of you.

My mum seems happy. She has dementia. She’s quite content. She seems well cared for. I feel happy that she is happy. She enjoys her food. She seems to get what she wants. I can’t comment on her room as with Covid I haven’t seen it. The room where we visit is pleasant and clean. She can be quite stubborn
but they seem to handle her well which gives me peace of mind.

I am so impressed with Aston Manor. The care my husband is receiving is wonderful. The staff are so lovely and caring and brilliant with him. It is comforting at such a difficult time in our lives to know that he is in such a nice place with such wonderful care all around him. He could not be anywhere
better. Thank you.

Dad is more than happy at Aston Manor. He is eating better than he was and the staff are taking really good care of him. Due to the pandemic, we've been unable to see his room but are looking forward to a time when we can.

We have been delighted by the attention and care all the team at Aston Manor gave our husband, father, and beloved family member during his short stay.

I am very deeply upset and still traumatized and will never get over that no nurses or head staff spotted my mum was dying. They said she was okay they slagged me off while the phone was left off. They lied about the Coronavirus. I will never get over my mum's death and warn anyone who takes their family
there read the reviews as I am now seeking legal advice in taking Aston Manor to court over the death of my mum.

Reply from Salim Boodhoo, Director at Aston Manor

Amaarah, thank you for your comments. We understand this matter has already been looked into by the authorities concerned and you are well aware of the outcome. Head office did contact you recently and there is an ongoing conversation with yourself. Covid-19 has touched us all and will leave an everlasting impact which I am sure you will agree.

Because of the current climate, I can only comment on when I was able to visit mum. Having said that I am very happy with the care and treatment mum is getting here and I know she is in good hands while I can't visit her.

My wife has been in excellent care since she has admitted 12-months ago. I cannot fault any of her carers and management; they all have looked after her dignity and care of her well being. Brilliant.

Covid-19 caused problems for all care homes especially the inability of the family to visit. My father was unable to see loved one's and kept in his room most of the time. Staff were not courteous on the phone, were abrupt and my 86 year old mum upset by their attitude. My father went into Aston Manor
with healthy feet as he had regular podiatry appointments. However, he left with bad gangrene in his toes through lack of care.

Reply from Salim Boodhoo, Director at Aston Manor

We find it regretful that you have cause to raised concerns at our home, you no doubt appreciate the challenges we face in these unprecedented times. Our prime focus is the welfare of our service users and staff which has not always been easy and we have always endeavoured to follow government guidelines with regards to visits, we will certainly look into the way families are greeted, you can rest assured of this with regards to foot care the district's podiatry team were the specialists providing guidance and treatment at the home. He was also being supported by his GP with his health needs, a family member was rung on a daily basis with an update.
