La Fontana is on outskirts of Martock, surrounded by beautiful Somerset countryside. The team has really focused on everything someone living with dementia could need to ensure each person continues to enjoy the best of life.

They've installed sophisticated technology to give you and your family added assurance and peace of mind. Intelligent bedroom sensors detect movement and allow for gradual illumination in the room which can also alert carers/nurses to someone needing assistance.

Enjoy stylish and comfortable living in one of five thoughtfully designed suites. Each suite benefits from spacious communal areas and large skylight windows, allowing natural light to pour in. Their beautiful reminiscence area promotes a trip down memory lane, complete with sun lounge designed with beach huts and a seaside feel housing a sun lamp that can promote a feeling of wellness and relaxation.

An innovative care planning system, ensures staff know everything they need to about how you choose to live. A fun, engaging daily activities programme is tailored to suit the hobbies and interests of the people living in the home.

Outside residents find an elegant fountain and secure gardens with raised flower beds, vegetable planters, ponds and patios. A favourite with residents and the local community is La Fontana’s petting farm, home to rabbits, reptiles, chinchillas, birds to alpacas amongst other animals.

My mother-in-law has been at La Fontana since 2019. The staff take very good care of her and have a very good understanding of dementia and behaviours associated with it.
The staff are friendly with mum and visitors. They contact us if anything has changed or need permission for vaccines, etc

My mother-in-law came to stay at La Fontana a couple of years ago, she stayed in a lovely en-suite room that over looked lovely gardens where we took walks in good weather.
From day one the staff were wonderful, kind caring and so compassionate, they always greeted with a smile. In the last weeks
that my mother-in-law was with us she was cared for with such love and tenderness.

Mum spent two and a half years in La Fontana. She was so well looked after by everyone. She was treated with dignity, compassion, nothing was too much trouble.

I had been visiting my mum regularly at La Fontana Care Home for two and a half years until her recent passing. Each time I visited the management and staff were always welcoming, approachable and friendly. Mum's care was first class, she was always treated with respect and kindness. I cannot thank

From the moment I walked into the reception at La Fontana, I felt cared for. The receptionist provides a warm welcome, which spreads throughout the whole building. My incle's bright stay in a large, well-equipped en-suite corner room overlooking the surrounding beautiful countryside was an experience
our family will treasure. La Fontana is a stunning building filled with compassionate, hardworking and dedicated staff. Overall the staff and management of La Fontana are very helpful. The level of care is excellent and they do what they can to help with a smile and pleasant attitude. When there are particular times of difficulty, medical need/emergency they are very thorough and understand extremely well the regulations
and laws protecting both resident and family wishes (as in power of attorney). We cannot thank the management and staff enough for being so kind and welcoming, always willing to help when there are particular issues, willing to listen, understand and empathise. If there is anything we would change it's the language barrier from some staff but know all have a reasonable level of English.

5 months ago my husband, who was bedridden with severe dementia, went to La Fontana for a month's respite care. It was soon evident that he was receiving excellent care and seemed happy, so he became a permanent resident. He was unable to make use of all the facilities but we had every confidence in
the care he received. He was monitored regularly and the staff were friendly, caring and attentive. They were always helpful and communicative. His room was very pleasant opening directly onto the gardens while the layout of the building means there are no stairs, lifts or long corridors which makes for a much more integrated and effective care system.

My husband has resided at La Fontana for the past 3 1/2 years and during this time he has been treated with nothing but kindness and respect. The care he receives is second to none. The staff are amazing and have endless patience with all the challenging behaviour. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
I am always made to feel very welcome when visiting and could not have made a better choice in choosing a care home for my husband. It is just like one big happy family.

In view of recent improvements, I feel it’s appropriate to write an updated review. I believe the improvements are a direct result of staff being allocated, on a permanent basis, to a particular room, thus improving teamwork, giving staff a sense of pride and ownership. Improved communication is demonstrated
by residents receiving more personalised individualised care as staff are now able to really get to know their residents. Communication between staff and residents, families and friends has definitely improved, I have always felt welcome but now really feel part of the team. Previous concerns have been acknowledged and dealt with immediately this gives me the confidence to be able to discuss any matters arising in the future which is reassuring. Residents’ activities still need improvement, but already care staff have taken the initiative by developing a sensory area amongst other things to address this issue. The (pending) appointment of an activities coordinator will also help to address this issue.
