Excellent home, they treat the residents with kindness and respect. I love my Nan and couldn’t ask for a better home for her to live in.

I would like to thank all the staff during this difficult period. I have called on two occasions to find out how our dad is getting on. And on each call, the staff have been very helpful and gave me all the time I needed to find out how he was. They have also sent photo's of him by email. Thank you.

My mother came to Lakeside in 2015 following a period of respite care in another home. She was suffering with dementia and had begun to wander away from home.
We were immediately struck by how relaxed she seemed following what we anticipated would be an uprooting and unsettling move. Her bedroom was
nicely decorated and furnished and she quickly settled into her new surroundings.
Two photos on her bedroom door (one from her 20’s and one more recent) helped her to recognise her bedroom.
It was the quality of staff that also stood out. She had a named key worker who stayed with her throughout her time in the home (almost five years). We had regular reviews and views were sought and acted upon. If things ever went wrong and we raised an issue it would be acted upon.
Most importantly staff RESPECTED the residents and treated them with utmost dignity. There was huge affection shown to my mother and great efforts made to meet her needs.
The care was superb at the end of life.

We have only just arrived (one week ago) but so far my mum is very happy and therefore so am I! Staff and management are all very friendly and make us feel very welcome.
The room is a good size and decor, furniture looks 'as new'.
Early days, but activities all appear excellent too.
Thank you.

My husband was a resident at Lakeside for 3 weeks respite care. He has a rare neuro condition which affects mobility/balance. His condition deteriorated during his stay resulting in loss of balance and frequent falls. Manager, team leader and care staff were amazing working together to ensure his safety.
The care given to my husband was excellent, nothing was too much trouble to make him comfortable.

I have noticed a huge improvement at Lakeside. My mother has been resident on Floor 1 for over 4 years with very bad Alzheimers. There has been a complete revamp on her floor. Decorating, furniture and carpeting and communal area has been set out as 3 rooms. The residents look much more relaxed in a
very homely setting. The staff are friendly and caring. I used to psyche myself up to visit mum but now I look forward to it. She is much more relaxed also.

Putting my mother here was the hardest thing I have done. All the staff here gave the whole family full support. I am so grateful for the care given to my mother. She was encouraged to join in the activities. She loves it when I take her into the garden, which is well kept. If she does not like the
menu then another meal is cooked for her. 100% happy.

Staff genuinely care and nothing seems to much trouble. My grandfather is always clean and well presented and is happy in the home. Carers have often gone above and beyond in caring for grandad and we have peace of mind that he's well cared for. Home is well presented, homely and welcoming.

Lakeside seems very clean and comfortable and the residents well cared for. What strikes me - in contrast to other care homes I have visited - is the interaction between the residents who sometimes sit in little groups chatting to each other. It is a lively residential home.

The room and its facilities comfortable and there was little interference unless requested, from staff. I was never very clear about why I had come - it was my first visit. Our lives were not regimented. Meals were good and (roughly) on time. There was little that we were asked to do.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.991)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.991) out of 10 for Lakeside Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.635 for Lakeside Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (62 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.635

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.356 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeside Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.556

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
