Lakeside has a spacious, light clean and airy feel to its accommodation. Windows often open in the communal rooms we have found all staff to be friendly and approachable at all times. Nothing has been too much to ask.
Lovely facilities for families to have a cup of tea and sit in the kitchen/garden.
My
mum has no complaints regarding her care and enjoys the food.
Her only negative comment is that a lot of the other residents prefer to remain in their own rooms, so sometimes the communal rooms are not being used especially in the evenings.

I am very satisfied with the care given to my wife who suffers from Alzheimer's in a fairly advanced state.
If I have a grievance, it is that during almost two years of my wife's caring and although everything of hers is named, she has lost 9 pairs of reading glasses several pairs of shoes, various
items of clothing including socks, tops and trousers.

This is a very difficult question. The home has some wonderful staff, people that really do care, and want to give their best. However, because of the nature of the business and the fact that there is no government body to enforce higher wages for the staff the turnover is high, there are not enough
staff to really be able to make a difference to residents. Activities are virtually non-existent. Even though we are in the summer months, the staff don't take the resident out to enjoy the garden and get some fresh air. They just don't have the resources . Question! Would I want to live in a care home??

Our aunt is well cared for at Lakeside and she likes it. She has become withdrawn since she went to Lakeside but the staff do try to involve her on a day to day basis.
It is not always possible to visit on a regular basis and it would be food to have a process for notifying us when she is low with
any toiletries or requires additional clothing. It would also be better for us if the monthly extras bill was itemised.
We aren't able to tell how many hair appointments it refers to with obtaining additional info form the home.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.991)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.991) out of 10 for Lakeside Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.635 for Lakeside Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (62 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.635

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.356 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeside Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.556

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
