I have been Visiting Gracewell (formerly under a different name) since its opening. I can honestly say this is the finest home in the Newmarket and surrounding area and we are very lucky to have it.
The facilities are second to none as is the care. If there were a league table for Care homes Gracewell
would most definitely be top of the Premier League.
Five-star service all round.

The home is run for the residents and there is generally a relaxed and jolly atmosphere. They have their own Bistro style restaurant where they can have an aperitif if they wish and a glass of wine or something similar. The dining tables are beautifully laid for lunch and residence family can stay
for lunch whenever they want. The staff are really kind with a sense of humour. The residents could not be better looked after. My mother is very happy there and is able to manage with the minimum of fuss and no stress.

The staff at Gracewell of Kentford are fantastic. This is the key that makes the home a great place for elderly relatives that need constant care. The staff turnover is very low and this consistency ensures a smooth running and caring environment.

Generally this care home is excellent but lately I feel that there has been a decline. I visit my mother most Saturdays sometimes on other days. This last weekend 16th April, her windows wouldn't open due to being jammed by something she had hanging on there but when I went to reception there was no
one around to tell/report also I've noticed on several visits that her table is unclean with dried on food and drink I suspect that it's wiped everyday but this isn't sufficient to get into cracks etc. Otherwise the family have been pleased with the level of care mum has received.

I was really pleased and impressed by the level of care given to my mother in the two years that she resided at the home. Suffering from dementia, she was always treated with love and respect by the immensely caring staff. The home was always welcoming and friendly when I visited and the staff were
never too busy to stop and chat about what Mum had been doing and how she was getting on. Kentford Manor is a very attractive building and the common parts are beautifully decorated and the rooms practical, clean and comfortable. It never felt clinical and I appreciated being able to come and go whenever I chose. The food always looked appetising, especially the home baking!
I cannot thank the staff enough for giving Mum a truly happy, contented and above all dignified final two years. The immense sadness her family feel now that she has died is much reduced by the knowledge that she died peacefully in Kentford Manor surrounded by people who genuinely cared for her. Thank You.

Job Title: General Manager

I have 20 years of experience in the care industry, most recently working as a manager for a large domiciliary and complex care agency.


I joined Care UK for the opportunities it would open as one of the UK’s leading care providers.


As a manager, I think the most important part of my role is listening. It's also essential to be empathetic, able to prioritise and have a good sense of humour.


Any time I can spend talking to residents and my team is my favourite part of the day. Seeing residents and their families happy makes me feel fulfilled in my role.


When I’m not working, I enjoy singing and walking my Dalmatian.
