My dad always receives excellent care. Every member of the team goes the extra mile to ensure he is well looked after. The food is excellent, always a selection on the menu. There are numerous activities to keep the residents entertained. The home manager and her team are always approachable and ready
to answer any questions relatives may have.

Mum has been a resident for 18 months now. The care given to Mum has been excellent, with plenty of opportunities to participate in activities, and even though Mum isn’t keen, she is still encouraged. Communication is very good, with plenty of opportunities to raise any issues or concerns. We know Mum
is safe and well cared for, which allows for peace of mind. Thank you to the staff for making what has been a difficult and emotional transition easier.

The staff and manager of Newcross Care Home have been great with my mom since she came here. She broke her hip last year and within a few weeks of being in hospital and coming back to the home, she was up and got more mobile as the weeks went by and you would never know she had had a broken hip to see
her now. This was down to the dedication of the staff here and I am eternally grateful. She is always happy and singing and visiting her is always a lovely, positive experience, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who are always happy to help. Thank you.

Very impressed with the care my aunty receives. Her annual review was informative, thorough and well presented. Maintenance deserves a special mention. Problems with her wheelchair were resolved immediately. The introduction of new residents to the home has had a positive effect on Aunty's wellbeing.
Integration of all in activities has been very positive. A special mention goes to the hairdresser who is a breath of fresh air. Mental well being is enhanced by her positive, fun and lively interaction with the ladies.

My aunt seems really settled and happy, looking forward to the Christmas festivities (enjoyed puss in boots yesterday). Staff are friendly and welcoming. Brilliant receptionist. Excellent hairdresser who chats away to Aunty whilst attending to her. Excellent that we can visit without needing to make
an appointment. Maintenance man brilliant, last week fixed Auntie's wheelchair within minutes. Lounges and dining room excellent. Have noticed Aunty is more talkative, the impact of new residents has had a positive impact on Auntie's social abilities. Well done Newcross. A*.

The level of care goes beyond what I ever expected. My uncle always says how attentive the staff are, always willing to help and support him. The room he is in is very spacious and well maintained, enjoying the benefit of a well equipped en-suite. The meals always look appetising and well balanced.
They keep the residence well entertained with various activities.

For two years I had been trying to live alone after my husband died suddenly from cancer. I resisted the prospect of living in a care home, following many reports of poor standard in such places. Following a period of respite in Newcross, I decided to stay. The manager and staff were very supportive
and available to talk through my options. They understood my reluctance to make the decision which meant a major upheaval in my life.

This is more than a care home, it's a community! My father was an emergency addition to the care system, we didn't see it coming. He was in hospital for several weeks whilst a place was found and he was placed in a terrible care facility as a temporary measure. His social worker eventually looked for
a more permanent home for him and his needs. Newcross Care Home was suggested and a showing was booked (we didn't get this choice as his family with the last place). We were personally shown round and all questions answered. I couldn't believe the feel of the place as soon as you walk in. It's spotlessly clean, smells amazing and honestly feels like a hotel. The staff go above and beyond with my father, also with ourselves as family. Nothing is too big or too small. The rooms are brilliant, communication is excellent and the facilities are second to none. I cannot believe this is a care home! There isn't a staff member we haven't taken fondly to! Five stars in our opinion.

My nan stayed at Newcross Care Home for 10 days of respite. We couldn't have been happier with the service they provided. She absolutely loved her time there. She joined in with all the activities and said she made lots of friends with the residents. Thank you to all the staff who were so welcoming

I’ve always found everyone at the home to be welcoming and friendly. The facilities are good and the rooms are very pleasant.
I’ve heard the carers with my uncle when they don’t know I’m waiting to enter and they sound kind and patient.

Jenna Hughes

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2017

Hello, my name is Jenna, and I am the home manager here at Newcross Care Home.


I joined Newcross in 2017 and have over 10 years of experience in the healthcare sector. Prior to becoming home manager here, I have had several previous roles, including senior care assistant, deputy manager at an Army nursery and a moving and handling trainer for the NHS. I am always looking into ways to develop my skills in the sector and have successfully done this by proudly accomplishing the NVQ levels 2, 3 and 5.


I would best describe myself as someone who is warm, welcoming and someone who is also on the go. In my downtime, I enjoy cheering my children on from the sidelines at their football matches.


Within my career, I have been lucky enough to meet many residents with all amazing stories and backgrounds. Seeing my residents happy and enjoying life each day gives me the motivation to perform at the highest level. One memorable moment that I will cherish forever was when one of my residents had difficulties walking. Using my experience, I referred them to occupational therapy, where he began to walk with assistance and without aids within two months. This is just one example of where I have been able to use my skills to better the lives of our residents.


Avery Healthcare, owners of Newcross, best stands out for their luxurious appearance and expectations of what quality care should be received by our residents. All staff receive continuous support and training. And our home is no different. Our home is unique as it is a true home from home. It is filled with an endless amount of fun, care and love. Judith started a career in Catering after obtaining her City and Guilds qualification at Birmingham College of Food and Domestic Art.


Judith has a vast knowledge of catering in various environments. Since her commencement with Avery, she has been more passionate about making a difference to our residents by providing them with the best quality and nutritional dishes.


Judith has since achieved the National Care Award of Care Home Chef of the Year in 2015.

Jamie has a good knowledge of buildings and maintenance as he has been involved in the building trade for over 25 years. As a builder/bricklayer, he has achieved a level 2 and 3 Diploma in Construction.

Olivia Harris

Job Title: Team Leader

Joined: 2017

Olivia has been working in care since the age of 17. During her time, she has completed an NVQ level 2 and 3 Qualification in Health and Social care and has recently completed her level 4 in Leadership and Management.


Her passion for her role is seeing the residents happy, fulfilling their needs and wishes and promoting a good quality of life.
