Alderwood Care Home provides award-winning, person-centred residential, nursing and dementia care from a skilled and passionate team. Rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission* (CQC), it is also accredited by the Gold Standards Framework for compassionate end-of-life care.

With a focus on making life meaningful, every day, residents enjoy a fun and varied schedule of activities and events designed to support their health and wellbeing. These include live performances from local entertainers, music and movement classes, pet therapy visits, craft workshops, and regular excursions to local places of interest in the minibus.

Alderwood is a beautiful, stylish and comfortable home featuring welcoming en-suite bedrooms, spacious lounges, a bustling brasserie, cinema, and hair salon. The home is surrounded by a large, landscaped garden, which plays host to regular community events and the residents’ Gardening Club.

Underpinned by strong community links, Alderwood runs a ‘wishing tree’ initiative, working with local partners to grant residents’ wishes, big and small, as well as frequently welcoming school children to enjoy the company of the residents.

The manager and her team are excellent - they go above and beyond. I am very grateful for the care and support they provide my mother. It is a relief for us to know that she is safe and well looked after.

The home is excellent from the manager down to all support staff. Every member of staff has been lovely caring and helpful, the activities offered are varied and enjoyable. I cannot thank the staff enough. Alderwood is a wonderful place.

Mum is so happy here and we really don't have to worry about her anymore. The staff are so caring and supportive of her needs whilst giving her the dignity she needs. This place is really exceptional and whilst it is not cheap I am reassured that Mum is being well cared for and that is priceless.

We feel Mum is living her best life with dementia at Alderwood Care Home. She is safe, extremely well cared for, occupied and most importantly, loved. Alderwood Care Home is welcoming to all, light and clean with a good flow of energy and humour.

I am so grateful for the care that Mum is receiving in Alderwood Care Home. I love the amount of effort that is put into bringing joy to the residents, with all the activities and entertainment, great food, lovely garden and indoor spaces, and warmth and affection of staff. I spend a bit of time in
Alderwood Care Home every week, I can pop in any time, there are a few family members who are often there. I find it a pleasant place to be, a peaceful, kind community, made possible by the excellent staff. I am particularly glad to have chosen Alderwood Care Home because they always see Mum as a person. There was a period when the Alzheimers' made Mum agitated and her behaviour challenging. The manager and staff worked really hard to help her through that, (with the mental health team). She needed a lot of support for a few weeks, but they were so patient and persistent, they didn't give up on her. Now Mum is content again, and the sociable side of her personality is back. An excellent care home!

Mum has been cared for at Alderwood Care Home for the past 5 years. They keep her safe and well which is most important, as due to her advanced dementia she has no ability to care for herself independently now. All the staff seem kind and caring and keep me up to date with mum's condition. My only
reason for scoring 'value for money' as 4 stars is that mum is no longer able to enjoy as many of the activities as she did when she was more able. Otherwise, I am really pleased that we chose Alderwood as her home.

Today, I write with the experience of my Mother being a resident for 10 years at Alderwood Care Home, that the constant loving care she receives is as fresh today as it was on her first day. Alderwood Care Home and all the care staff have given her these 10 extra years and she’s still going strong,
our family are grateful that she has met her 4 great grandchildren and seen them grow and progress, this definitely wouldn't have happened without Alderwood Care Home. Thank you everyone

I find the staff at Alderwood Care Home welcoming and helpful whenever I visit. The care Alderwood provides for its residents is first class. Activities and external visits when circumstances permit is greatly enjoyed, birthdays are never missed and made special. I am told the food is enjoyable and
varied and special and if withdrawal symptoms occur special requests e.g., a Chinese can be catered for. Having an on-site hairdresser is another distinct advantage. The cleaners are to be complimented Alderwood Care Home is always spotless which is reflected in the excellent air quality. Residential care is expensive but when compared objectively Alderwood Care Home is good value for money, in my opinion, the on-site management and staff are to be complimented on the quality of care they provide.

My mother joined my father at Alderwood Care Home for the last few months of her life. The end-of-life care support could not have been better. The staff were respectful and attentive. They made it easy for the whole family to spend quality time with Mum. She passed peacfully. You have a wonderful team
and we were so grateful that Mum and Dad were together at this time.

Fantastic care home. The manager was extremely helpful with my many urgent queries. My father was moved suddenly from hospital to Alderwood (half a day earlier than anticipated) but the staff coped magnificently. I was able to visit twice a week, having Covid tests before entry was allowed. Staff were
always helpful and polite. My father was treated with respect and recovered enough from a bad fall that he was able to return home after a month in Alderwood.

I arranged for my mum to go into Alderwood for 7 days while we moved house and she thoroughly enjoyed her stay. The staff were so kind and attentive and couldn't do enough for her. Her room was lovely, spotless, and comfortable. They had placed flowers in her room and even changed her television to
a larger screen because her eyesight is poor. She has told me the food was wonderful and she took part in many activities and entertainment. After 7 days, her rooms at our new house were not quite ready and they were happy to accommodate her for a few more days. When I collected her to come home, they made such a fuss of her even though she had only been there 10 days. She was given a lovely bouquet of flowers and a large box of chocolates when she left. I would thoroughly recommend Alderwood and would like to give an enormous thank you to all the staff who took care of her so well.

My partner has been in this home since August 2020 to the present date. At first, I was worried if she was being looked after but soon realised after a short time I need not have worried. The staff are very caring and I'm regularly updated. The home is exceptionally clean. I would recommend this care
home to anybody.

My nan sadly passed away recently after being a resident for 3 years. Our family were so touched by the mark of love and respect shown by all the staff and carers, my nan's carers came out and stood in a line and as we looked up every window and balcony had a member of the team saying their goodbyes
and supporting our family. A huge thank you for everything you've done, you made the little world she was living in so much bigger for her. (All staff were wearing PPE and following social distancing guidelines).

Alderwood and the team really do provide exceptional care. Dad has settled in better than we could ever have expected and feels like he is in a luxury hotel! Sadly having experienced poor care at another unrelated establishment we know that the level of care at Alderwood is not the norm in the sector,
but they make it look easy.
This is how a care home should be run, with expertise and compassion, care and understanding of the residents and also consideration of the relatives.
Covid has obviously been a great challenge but we know Dad is as safe as he can be and they have good procedures in place. The care that has gone into improvements in the garden area for visiting are clear to see.

The staff can't do enough for the residents and their visitors. We were given the use of the beautiful private dining room at the weekend because the ever popular Saturday afternoon tea in the brasserie was full. We had a lovely selection of freshly made sandwiches, cakes and savouries with plenty of
tea and coffee. Nothing is too much trouble.

Just to say that my mothers care at Alderwoods has been truly exceptional. There is a nothing too much trouble attitude about the place, with a sense of fun. Both management and staff.
Mum started with daycare once a week, then twice. Making friends with both staff and residents. When it was obvious
she could no longer cope at home. Mum moved into her new home Alderwood. Mum was encouraged to go out on day trips and enjoyed the activities organised every day.
I feel we have been very fortunate to have found this wonderfully caring place who look after both residents and their family and friends.
Notable is the regular functions. Summer Fete, Fireworks, Parties etc. that four generations of our family thoroughly enjoyed.
