Claremont Court Care Home is an award-winning care home that provides specialist dementia care with love and compassion. It also holds platinum accreditation with the Gold Standards Framework for end-of-life care.

The experienced team ensures that residents live well with dementia and achieve a high quality of life by receiving person-centred care, stimulation and social interaction designed to support their overall health and wellbeing.

The calm and welcoming home supports its team to provide expert residential dementia and nursing dementia care, having been designed to meet the needs of those living with complex dementia. It features wide corridors, clear signage to aid wayfinding and memory boxes for residents to personalise.

There are comfortable and spacious dining rooms, lounges, a library and salon, not to mention the home's loving cats, Clare and Monty, and therapy dog Ruby. The home’s large sensory garden features vegetable boxes that residents take pride in looking after.

Residents enjoy a varied schedule of activities tailored to their interests and abilities. These include arts and crafts, reminiscence activities, and dementia-aid computer games and puzzles. There are regular visits from performers, minibus trips to local places of interest and partnerships with schools and charities. It also hosts a monthly dementia support group.

And, with soothing lighting, music and aromatherapy, residents can experience multi-sensory relaxation as part of a group, or in the comfort of their own bedroom, during regular Namaste Care sessions.

Claremont has been a very positive experience. All staff have been very caring. Lots of activities if residents want to join in but no pressure for any that don't. Relaxed atmosphere resulting in happy staff and residents.

A really wonderful, professional, caring home - staff are very caring and helpful.
Accommodation always very clean and well cared for.

Excellent, my cousin was in a care home in Minehead and moved to Claremont Court, what a total transformation. From nearly dying if I left her in the previous home to putting on weight, her skin is better and she is much healthier. Claremont Court provides wonderful care.

From November 2012 when my husband was admitted, mobile then and there was plenty of space for free movement although safe and secure.
We were lead by our instincts for choice, which seemed a daunting future journeying through vascular dementia.
Almost five years on myself, daughter and son will be
eternally grateful for the utmost care and support we have received.
The staff are dedicated and caring with dignity.
Residents receive a good quality of life with many outings, parties and entertainment.

I couldn't wish for better care for Mum. We were so lucky to get a placement at Claremont for her. No one wants to see a loved one go into full-time care but everyone has supported us with the transition. All staff are so hard working and caring, I have absolute peace of mind regarding Mum's welfare
and needs, knowing she is safe is priority. Social activities are fantastic. Everyone at Claremont is a credit to the company - thank you so much.

I first heart about Claremont Court about 5 years ago, from Social Services. After looking at other homes, I am glad it was Claremont Court. My wife has been well looked after now for about 5 years and now her sister is also at the home - 2 sisters are at the same home. The staff are as good as you

My father was moved from a Sunrise Care Home in Surrey in February as his needs became very challenging - aggression and need for nursing input. After an extensive search for homes (26) I finally had a positive response from the manager. Her team are professional, caring, well trained and pro-active.

My mother was at Claremont Court from October until her death in late December 2016. Although it turned out to be a short stay, she was very well cared for. The building and accommodation are modern, clean and bright. In particular, the staff were very caring and nothing was too much trouble to make
all residents feel 'at home', comfortable and well cared for.

Leaving a loved one in a nursing home is always a traumatic experience. The settling in period can be difficult. It would appear Claremont Court is both sensitive and aware of the needs of client and carers . Caring for a stranger with dementia is a challenge and Claremont appear to be up to the task.

Claremont Court provided a caring and supportive environment for the last month of my mother's life. The staff were superb - they not only cared for Mum but did so in an affectionate manner. They tried to maintain her dignity as her health failed and always responded to her sense of humour with appreciation.
The physical environment was well designed apart from problems with the lift to the second floor on a few occasions. I am very grateful to Claremont Court for their care of my mother.

My mother was moved to Claremont Court from her care home when her health deteriorated and she needed more nursing care. During her last few weeks, she received excellent palliative care. Nursing staff took time to encourage her to eat and drink she was bathed nightwear and bedding changed daily. We
could visit any time day or night and offered hot drinks. A small fully equipped kitchen was also available to us.
How we wish mum moved there earlier so she could have enjoyed as best as her health would allow, to partake in the activities and use the pleasant dining room with other residents.
We could only observe the dedication of the staff in their care of other residents all of whom suffered from dementia. Staff had time to spend with them and preserve their dignity at all times. The staff also had time to spend with us and said their care was for the relatives as well as their residents and it showed.
Although we as a family were involved with Claremont Court for a short while, we would have no hesitation in recommending them as caring environment for those suffering from dementia, being looked after by staff who really care.

There is a relaxed atmosphere at the home with freedom for residents to move around on their designated floor. All staff are friendly and approachable and willing to assist when problems arise during visits. The menu appears to be varied although I cannot comment further on the food/meals itself. More
information on my wife's behaviour/progress, either good or bad, would be welcomed. There is a good range of activities available for residents.

I would recommend Claremont Court to anyone looking for a care home for someone with dementia. My uncle moved to the home directly from hospital. Apart from dementia my uncles first language was British sign language as he had been born deaf and he had always lived on his own. We were concerned that
he would struggle to communicate with the staff, but this was not the case. The staff went out of their way to communicate with him, even putting up simple signs on his bedroom wall to help the staff going into his room. The staff cared really well for my uncle, this mean't he settled very quickly. Sadly my uncle passed away 4 months after moving to the home. But we were comforted by the knowledge that he was well cared for in his final days. As a family we felt that both my uncle and the family were really well supported under very difficult circumstances.

Before he came to Claremont Court my father's dementia had led to very difficult behaviour at times. When we discussed this before he came here, the staff took it in their stride. They have worked with us to ensure that he settled in, and we have been delighted by how calm and happy he is now. Whenever
we visit he tells us how kind and friendly the staff are, and that is obvious from the way they treat him.
His care plan focuses very much on him as an individual and they have always involved us in developing this. When there has been an occasional problem, they have always contacted us promptly, explained the situation and their plans to resolve it, and sought feedback from us.
His own views are taken into consideration and respected. It is a joy to see him so content.

Karen Byres, the Home Manager at Claremont Court has worked in care for over 25 years having started her career as a carer. Karen spent nine years working for another care home operator in the Guildford area as a Registered Manager so has a wealth of experience in managing and leading established care homes. Before joining Claremont Court Karen worked for two years improving the care standards of a care home that was judged as ‘inadequate’ by the regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and led the home to achieve fully compliant status. Karen is NVQ qualified and holds the Registered Managers Award. In addition, Karen has been trained in supporting people living with Parkinson’s and Diabetes, as well as completing a course in ‘Attachment and Awareness in Dementia’ at the University of Southampton.

Karen says: “I love working with the team at Claremont Court, who are dedicated to providing very personalised care to meet our resident's unique needs. Every day at Claremont is heartwarming.”
