Nestled in the 'Rose of the Shires', Northamptonshire, Elm Bank Care Home is a spacious and inviting residence in Kettering with great access to local amenities. Members of staff get to know everyone individually so they can provide a high quality lifestyle and activities that each resident will enjoy. The home welcomes respite and long term residents.

Bedrooms are divided between a community for people with lower care needs, a separate supported living house and a dementia care community. Elm Bank also has a premium respite suite for short-stay guests. Each community has its own living and dining rooms, with private dining options for visiting families and special occasions. Furnishings and décor throughout the home are of a high standard and offer a homely and comfortable feel.

There is a secure private garden in the centre of the grounds, a patio area to the rear of the home and a Victorian summer house - all perfect for outdoor socialising.

Meals are prepared by trained chefs who offer a varied daily menu and tailor meals to individual preferences. Residents may eat in the restaurant-style dining room or in their own rooms if preferred. All dietary requirements are catered for.

A dedicated Activities Coordinator plans a busy programme of daily events for residents to take part in if they wish. Residents also help to plan activities, outings and entertainment that they will enjoy, to make sure there is something for everyone.

Excellent, welcoming atmosphere made my father relaxed and at ease as soon as he walked through the door.
He enjoyed two weeks of respite care and returned home a lot fitter having been well-fed and entertained by the various activities available.
Great staff, helpful, caring and very understanding.

We were very happy with our experience of Barchester Elm Bank Care Home. My mother moved into Elm Bank eight weeks prior to her death in August 2023. The staff were very supportive of us, keeping us informed and were welcoming, taking the time to talk with us. They took excellent care of her, taking

The team at Barchester Elm Bank Care Home have looked after my mum for six years. She is 100 years old and has dementia.
My father who was 102 years old yesterday moved to the care home in 2023. The care they both receive is excellent, both are happy and content which isn't exactly what a son needs
for peace of mind.

My auntie required respite care. The staff were all lovely. They treated my aunt with dignity, respect and were professional. My aunt required pureed food and the kitchen staff delivered her food as requested. I wish to thank the kitchen staff for their excellence. Sadly my auntie died after being in
Elm Banks's care for 5 days. The staff at the time were professional and compassionate. Thoroughly recommend Elm Banks care delivery and all of the staff.

My mother has been here for four to five years. I live in South Africa so can only visit occasionally, especially since Covid. We have been comforted by the fact that Mum has been cared for so exceptionally well. She has dementia but seems very happy and well. My father has now also entered the home
at the age of 101 and is also happy here. Mum is 100 years old on the 18th of April and the home has been amazing in celebrating this wonderful event with the family. As they did with Dad's 100th birthday. We have nothing but praise for all the staff. A big thank you!

Thank you so much for the care, compassion and empathy you gave my relative up until the end of his life. He loved the home and the staff. You were also very supportive of my mum. You went above and beyond your duties. For their 25th wedding anniversary in November, you provided a private area for them
to have a meal together with candles on the table and making them a cake. Christmas Day arrangements were made so mum was able to have Christmas dinner with my relative. My mum and I cannot thank you enough.

The care home felt high quality as it consistently reaches the goals a care home is required to meet. Staff were hardworking and compassionate. Facilities were at a high standard, and the scenery had a nature-themed feel. The activities were good, and I saw several people in the rooms where the activities

I contacted Elm Bank in regards to respite (post-op) care and was warmly welcomed by the Customer Liaison Assistant and her team. From the moment I arrived the staff have been overwhelming in terms of care, attention as well as food, drink and basics. I have spent time with many of the residents, and
all have nothing but praise for the staff in what is a physically and emotionally challenging role. Thank you so much for getting me back on my feet. I will never forget your kindness and support.

I have been a registered nurse for 18 years. I trained at St Bartholomew School of Nursing, City University London. I worked in a large London hospital for many years before relocating to Northamptonshire with my husband several years ago to start a family.


My experience is varied having worked in a variety of settings including local hospitals, rehabilitation units, and community and nursing homes. I have 6 years of management experience and I thoroughly enjoy equipping staff with knowledge and skills to help them to give their best to our residents and enjoy their work.


I love working for Barchester and feel privileged to be leading a great team and ensuring our residents are provided with quality service that meets each individual needs. The atmosphere at Elm Bank is welcoming and we strive to create a community that is homely, happy and active for our residents to live fulfilled lives.

Hi, my name is Sharntelle and I am the Senior Head Chef at Elm Bank Care Home.


I ensure we offer a choice of delicious meals, three times a day, to meet residents' food preferences and dietary needs. I love cooking and I take the time to speak to residents about what food they enjoyed or weren't so keen on. We include special requests and residents' favourites in our menus, and we provide cakes and biscuits to go with morning and afternoon refreshments.


We also cater for special events, food-related activities and all the birthdays and other celebrations here at Elm Bank. I manage the great kitchen team here which includes a Second Chef, Kitchen Assistants and Dining Hosts.

Hello. I am Maxine, I am a head of care on Blossom Trail, our Dementia Unit at Elm Bank. I joined in 2014 as a Senior Carer. I'm qualified for NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care. I support residents to make sure their everyday health needs are provided for, including issuing prescribed medication and carrying out regular health checks. I enjoy the company of residents and I take pride in making sure they are comfortable and have everything they need. I enjoy listening to their life stories and reminiscing over photos. I like helping with Elm Bank’s activities and meal times too, making sure the whole team encourages residents to participate and socialise.

Hello. I am Jill and I have lived at Elm Bank for many years so I know the staff really well. I enjoy attending all the activities and I always want to try the new things offered here. I help to put up decorations for special events throughout the year, to create a celebratory atmosphere. Staff and residents work together to make special days really enjoyable. I am a confident person and it is part of my role to liaise with the General Manager any residents who want to express their wishes but are unable to do so. I joined Elm Bank in May 2023 as a Team Leader soon becoming the Head of Care before moving to the role of Activities Coordinator and leading the team in January 2024. My passion is to provide life-enriching activities that enhance the lives of our residents.


By providing entertainment that is not only stimulating but person-centred. Our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home of interest, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities. We are a pet-friendly home and fully support the benefits animal therapy can bring to the lives of our residents and welcome animals of all kinds to the home regularly.


Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meetings, we can gain a greater understanding of their loved one's interests and lives before joining Elm Bank which will make for a richer activities program to be developed. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

Hello, my name is Anthony and I am the Head Housekeeper here at Elm Bank. I bring over 15 years of experience to the team, working within hotels, cruise ships and latterly care homes. I am proud to be part of this home and have the opportunity to share my skills with my team as we work together to ensure that all communal areas, environments and resident rooms remain clean and well-presented at all times. Together we strive to create a continued ‘lovely’ atmosphere for our residents, staff and visitors to the home.

Job Title: Customer Relations Assistant

Hello. My name is Isabel and I have been working at Elm Bank Care Home since 2011. I am the Customer Liaison Assistant for our home, supporting with enquiries, show rounds, showrooms and welcoming visitors to the home. I also liaise with the local community and community projects showcasing Elm Bank and our excellent work. 


We have lots of activities every day and it’s lovely seeing people from our community joining us. We also welcome community groups to use our lounges for group sessions. Please pop in and have a chat with me as I enjoy meeting people and I'm always proud to show people around Elm Bank. Every day is different here!

Sue Harrison

Job Title: Night Team Leader

Hello. I am Sue, the Night Team Leader at Elm Bank. Our friendly team takes over when the day staff go home. We provide all the care and support residents need at bedtime, throughout the night, and when they wake up in the morning. We support people at the times they want it - not everyone wants to go to bed at the same time. We enjoy being with residents as they are winding down with TV or a book, and we make them as comfortable as possible for a good night's sleep with whatever they like for their bedtime routine - a cup of cocoa and an extra pillow maybe.

Naomi Rodwell

Job Title: Receptionist

Hello. I am Naomi, one of the Receptionists at Elm Bank. I love welcoming residents, their families and other visitors to our friendly home and being as helpful as I can to anyone who would like information about the high-quality care here. I am also the home's Community Champion, connecting Elm Bank with as many local organisations and individuals as possible. We often hold events here, which the public is welcome to attend, and we also take residents out to events and activities in Kettering and further afield.

Job Title: Second Chef

Hello. I am Sophie and I support our Head Chef to produce a varied menu every day, and I manage the kitchen team when the Head Chef is on leave. It is very important to me that every resident enjoys their food, so I get to know exactly how and when they like their food. We also take into account any dietary and swallowing needs to make sure people get all the nutrition they need. We make lots of treats too for birthdays and events.

Hello, my name is Dale and I'm part of the Activities team here at Elm Bank Care Home.


My role, and that of the team is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities, entertainers and outings. I believe music is a great way to express one's feelings and personality and look forward to listening to the soundtrack of our residents’ lives.

Hello, my name is Mark and I work within the Activities Team here at Elm Bank Care Home.


It's a privilege for me to provide regular activities, ones our wonderful residents really enjoy such as Family Fortunes, Bingo and carpet bowls.


Everyone looks forward to their weekly scheduled gathering for a little competitive gaming with traditional games of prize Bingo, carpet bowls and dominoes being their favourites across the communities.

Hi, my name is Steve and work as part of the Housekeeping team here at Elm Bank. I re-joined the team in 2023 after a short break, I have over 8 years’ experience working within this beautiful home and it's good to be back! I adore our residents and have the daily privilege of being able to maintain their living space 'just the way they like it'. In my spare time, I enjoy watching all sports and going on long country walks.
