Nestled in the 'Rose of the Shires', Northamptonshire, Elm Bank Care Home is a spacious and inviting residence in Kettering with great access to local amenities. Members of staff get to know everyone individually so they can provide a high quality lifestyle and activities that each resident will enjoy. The home welcomes respite and long term residents.

Bedrooms are divided between a community for people with lower care needs, a separate supported living house and a dementia care community. Elm Bank also has a premium respite suite for short-stay guests. Each community has its own living and dining rooms, with private dining options for visiting families and special occasions. Furnishings and décor throughout the home are of a high standard and offer a homely and comfortable feel.

There is a secure private garden in the centre of the grounds, a patio area to the rear of the home and a Victorian summer house - all perfect for outdoor socialising.

Meals are prepared by trained chefs who offer a varied daily menu and tailor meals to individual preferences. Residents may eat in the restaurant-style dining room or in their own rooms if preferred. All dietary requirements are catered for.

A dedicated Activities Coordinator plans a busy programme of daily events for residents to take part in if they wish. Residents also help to plan activities, outings and entertainment that they will enjoy, to make sure there is something for everyone.

Having had serious concerns about our mother's care and treatment, and having experienced extremely poor management at her previous local nursing home, my brother and I are delighted to say that her move to Elm Bank has been life-changing for all of us.
The flexibility and imagination required to
safely accommodate residents and their relatives during the constraints of the pandemic have been amply demonstrated by the Elm Bank management and carers. The care and attention Mum is now receiving has brought about a significant and visible improvement in both her emotional well-being and physical health.
We recently celebrated Mum's 95th birthday, and the carers and catering staff created a wonderful party atmosphere for this celebration.
We find everyone approachable and accommodating at Elm Bank, and it is lovely to see that there is a clear affection for Mum amongst many of the staff.
We would, therefore, recommend Elm Bank as a care home.

After several falls at home and a horrific 8 week stay in hospital, my aunt went into Barchester Elm Bank Care Home a shell of her formal self. She was depressed, in pain and her mobility was greatly reduced. The change in her since March, when she went in, has been amazing and that is all down to the
care she receives. Which I can not praise enough. My aunt is always treated with dignity and respect and any concerns or issues I have (all minor) are dealt with immediately. The wonderful team at Elmbank have made the stressful and emotional move into care so much easier for myself and my aunt. I’m so grateful for this and can not thank them enough. My aunt now classes Elmbank as home and her quality of life has improved so much. I would 100% recommend this care home to anyone looking for somewhere for a loved one.

After a fall and a distressing time in hospital, Mum decided she was unable to cope at home. I rang Barchester Elm Bank Care Home and immediately the manager and her team sprang into action. Within an hour, she had sorted respite care, fabulous accommodation with a view of the gardens, an assessment
of Mum to take place in hospital and transport to the care home. During her time at Barchester Elm Bank Care Home, Mum was quite poorly and the manager and her team were amazing. The high level of care that they provided meant she was as comfortable and rested as could be expected and nothing was too much trouble for them. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, they were in regular contact with me with updates. I would not hesitate to recommend Barchester Elm Bank Care Home. The team there are very special people and I thank them wholeheartedly.

My mother-in-law initially went into Elm Bank from hospital as a temporary placement as she could no longer return to her own home. We quickly realised that Elm Bank was the right place for her and she then became a permanent resident. Throughout my mother-in-law's stay at Elm Bank (3 months), the staff
have been wonderful. Treating her with care and compassion - nothing has been too much trouble and they have kept us updated every step of the way with her ongoing situation. The staff especially on Bluebell Walk have been so kind and considerate and really made our family feel like she was loved right to the end. We, as a family thank all the staff from the bottom of our hearts and would definitely recommend Elm Bank to anyone looking for a caring care home for their family member or friend.

My father-in-law has been a resident since October 2018 and we have seen definite improvements over the last 12 months, despite the Covid restrictions. The management have introduced more opportunities for families to interact with staff, including monthly Zoom family meetings and monthly health updates
by telephone. Their dealing with the Covid situation has been excellent with outdoor visits, indoor hub visits and now room visits. Dad is restricted due to lack of speech but seems content.

A lovely home that I would highly recommend. My friend moved to Barchester Elm Bank in October 20, sadly Covid-19 at the time made personal visits impossible. However, the home has beautiful visiting pods and every week we have been able to spend time to talk, laugh and stay in contact face to face.
Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff, from putting a telephone call through or helping connect our friend to Zoom which we do several times a week. The daily activities organised for the residents are so well planned, we get to hear all about them, carpet bowls is a winner! A few weeks ago with the lift in restrictions I was able to go inside the home for the first time, it was lovely to spend some time with my friend in her own room, which is kept beautifully clean and has lovely views of the garden. Our friend is so happy it's lovely to see her smiling and enjoying life. Thank you to all of the staff for your genuine care I am so grateful to you all!

I find Elm Bank to be consistent in their care of my mother. The staff are approachable and always willing to contact me with updates etc. It understandably remains strange times with Covid restrictions and so forth. However, When I have contact with my mother, through the pod, she appears well and
happy. I rest easy in these strange times, knowing my mother is being well cared for. I would like to offer my thanks to all the team at Elm Bank, especially those on the 2nd Floor where my mother resides, for their ongoing support, care and warmth towards my mother. Thanks again. Also since Barchester have taken over the home, there appears to me, that staff have been retained and I gain the impression staff are valued.

My mother in law arrived at Elm Bank from hospital. She was immobile and struggling to recover from illness and was quite depressed. Staff at Elm Bank treated her like royalty. She was encouraged to get well, to build her strength up and even though this became too difficult for her staff continued
to do their very best with encouraging words. Communication was very good. We liked the fact that when we called the phone was answered promptly. Staff contacted us regularly with updates which was much appreciated. The setup and appearance made you feel like you were entering a four-star hotel. It was clean, bright, warm and comfortable. It didn't feel like a home in the traditional way. It's a place you would be happy to stay. The staff here are kind, caring and respectful towards those they cared for and us as a family. Mum died sadly at Elm Bank, had she lived she would have loved the accommodation. Staff cared and she was treated with dignity and respect.

Mum moved to Elm Bank after being discharged from hospital and unable to look after herself. She had been injured in a fall and her dementia had significantly advanced. When she arrived she was withdrawn and didn’t even speak to me or engage in any of the activities.
Over the last few months, I have
seen a fantastic improvement. Mum now speaks to me, but what brings me greater joy is that she chats to the staff and joins in the activities. It’s lovely to know she has made friends who she regularly chooses to sit with at both mealtimes and afterwards.
The staff have made a miracle happen, I feel the quality of mum’s life has improved so much since she moved to Elm Bank and I really appreciate everything that the staff have done to make this happen.
Alongside this, the reception staff have been really helpful in supporting me too.
I am truly grateful for the help and support that we have both received and am glad that Mum now lives at Elm Bank.

My Uncle was admitted to Elm Bank, having spent over ten weeks in hospital following a fall. He was not able to go home due to self-neglect. Although I saw him every 2 days and spoke to him daily - the rest of his time was spent alone. He had no television, no radio and was refusing to use his electricity.
His life had completely spiralled out of control. Both he and his house were in a terrible state; my uncle was unable to walk properly and too proud to ask for any help. He had completely shut himself off from all society and was unable to engage with the world on any level other than his interaction with me.
When he first arrived at Elm Bank he would stay in his room and, once again, refused to engage with other people.
In the last month or so, however, he has really started to trust the staff and engage with them; he is like a new man. Being at Elm Bank has transformed him, it has given him back a life. He told me has never been happier, This fills me with such joy! Thank you.

Mum has been a resident for just over 2 years and is happy with her overall care and is very fond of the staff and carers who see to her needs.

My mother has been a resident since 2018. Initially both my parents moved into Elm Bank and settled in together. Sadly, my father died in 2020 and the care he was given towards the end of his life was excellent. All the staff are courteous, professional, approachable and very caring towards both residents
and visitors.
The home has coped admirably during the Coronavirus Pandemic and has set up dedicated Covid-secure indoor visiting suites. I would highly recommend this care home.

I came in January as I couldn't manage on my own at home to await a total hip replacement operation in February I had already had a knee replacement, both right leg. Then the coronavirus occurred and I had to stay here because of the weakened state of my knee, my mobility got worse. I have now had the
hip op and I am staying until I feel able to cope on my own at home.

I stayed for seven weeks. during that time I felt my care was very good. The girls were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The room was lovely and clean, cleaned each day. Clothes were taken for washing when needed, but sometimes things had to be chased to be got back. The food was good,
brilliant variety and lovely sweets and cakes too. It was nice to eventually get garden visits. I was very happy during my stay there.

I feel that this care home and all the carers (especially one lady) are doing a marvellous job in caring for my mother. She has made it possible for our family to see and speak with my mother. This has been very reassuring for myself (I live in Spain) and my family - especially during this pandemic.
My mother looked very well when I spoke to her and the carers were friendly and helpful.
As a family we try to have frequent contact with my mother and Elm Bank has enabled us to continue doing this.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful dedicated and caring members of staff. I know my mother is lucky to be in such a special place.

The reception staff are always helpful. We ordered lunch in the small restaurant room as part of a celebration for the birthdays of my sisters. I have been a registered nurse for 18 years. I trained at St Bartholomew School of Nursing, City University London. I worked in a large London hospital for many years before relocating to Northamptonshire with my husband several years ago to start a family.


My experience is varied having worked in a variety of settings including local hospitals, rehabilitation units, and community and nursing homes. I have 6 years of management experience and I thoroughly enjoy equipping staff with knowledge and skills to help them to give their best to our residents and enjoy their work.


I love working for Barchester and feel privileged to be leading a great team and ensuring our residents are provided with quality service that meets each individual needs. Hello. I am Maxine, I am a head of care on Blossom Trail, our Dementia Unit at Elm Bank. I joined in 2014 as a Senior Carer. I'm qualified for NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care. I support residents to make sure their everyday health needs are provided for, including issuing prescribed medication and carrying out regular health checks. I enjoy the company of residents and I take pride in making sure they are comfortable and have everything they need. I enjoy listening to their life stories and reminiscing over photos. I like helping with Elm Bank’s activities and meal times too, making sure the whole team encourages residents to participate and socialise.

Job Title: Resident Ambassador

Hello. I am Jill and I have lived at Elm Bank for many years so I know the staff really well. I enjoy attending all the activities and I always want to try the new things offered here. I help to put up decorations for special events throughout the year, to create a celebratory atmosphere. Staff and residents work together to make special days really enjoyable. I am a confident person and it is part of my role to liaise with the General Manager any residents who want to express their wishes but are unable to do so. I make a special point of welcoming all new residents to our home and helping them to settle in. I am very proud to be part of Elm Bank as we are all cared for like family.

Hello, my name is Rob and I'm the head of the maintenance team here at Elm Bank Care Home.


My role is to ensure that my team and I keep the Elm Bank home maintained to the highest standard, ensuring that the residents are kept safe and comfortable at all times. Before joining the Barchester team, I worked in the motor trade as an after-sales manager. In my spare time, I like to go hill climbing, holidaying in my caravan with my family and riding my motorbike.

Hello, my name is Amanda and I'm the Non-Clinical Head of Care here at Elm Bank. I joined the team in 2018 as a Care Assistant in our residential community for people with lower support needs before progressing to Team Leader in our Daisy Lane Community for those living with dementia.


I am proud to be part of a home that delivers care based on each person's individual needs and provides support with respect and dignity. When I’m not at work I love spending time with my little boy or going shopping, and I enjoy eating out and going on holiday with family.

Hello, my name is Tina and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Elm Bank Care Home.


I joined Elm Bank in May 2023 as a Team Leader soon becoming the Head of Care before moving to the role of Activities Coordinator and leading the team in January 2024. My passion is to provide life-enriching activities that enhance the lives of our residents.


By providing entertainment that is not only stimulating but person-centred. Our weekly calendar offers rich experiences with music from live entertainers, visits to various locations outside the home of interest, as well as arts and crafts tailored to individual abilities. We are a pet-friendly home and fully support the benefits animal therapy can bring to the lives of our residents and welcome animals of all kinds to the home regularly.


Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meetings, we can gain a greater understanding of their loved one's interests and lives before joining Elm Bank which will make for a richer activities program to be developed. I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones.

Hello, my name is Anthony and I am the Head Housekeeper here at Elm Bank. I bring over 15 years of experience to the team, working within hotels, cruise ships and latterly care homes. Hello. My name is Isabel and I have been working at Elm Bank Care Home since 2011. I am the Customer Liaison Assistant for our home, supporting with enquiries, show rounds, showrooms and welcoming visitors to the home. I also liaise with the local community and community projects showcasing Elm Bank and our excellent work. 


We have lots of activities every day and it’s lovely seeing people from our community joining us. We also welcome community groups to use our lounges for group sessions. Hello. I am Sue, the Night Team Leader at Elm Bank. Our friendly team takes over when the day staff go home. We provide all the care and support residents need at bedtime, throughout the night, and when they wake up in the morning. We support people at the times they want it - not everyone wants to go to bed at the same time. We enjoy being with residents as they are winding down with TV or a book, and we make them as comfortable as possible for a good night's sleep with whatever they like for their bedtime routine - a cup of cocoa and an extra pillow maybe.

Hello. I am Naomi, one of the Receptionists at Elm Bank. I love welcoming residents, their families and other visitors to our friendly home and being as helpful as I can to anyone who would like information about the high-quality care here. I am also the home's Community Champion, connecting Elm Bank with as many local organisations and individuals as possible. We often hold events here, which the public is welcome to attend, and we also take residents out to events and activities in Kettering and further afield.

Hello. I am Sophie and I support our Head Chef to produce a varied menu every day, and I manage the kitchen team when the Head Chef is on leave. It is very important to me that every resident enjoys their food, so I get to know exactly how and when they like their food. We also take into account any dietary and swallowing needs to make sure people get all the nutrition they need. We make lots of treats too for birthdays and events.
