I have worked at Acer Court since March 2016. I began as a housekeeper and then progressed to care as I enjoyed helping the residents and reassuring them where needed.
I moved on to become a Customer Service Advisor in June 2021. As I enjoyed meeting people and want to help people where I can. I find my job rewarding as often people aren't sure about moving their loved ones into a care home and I feel I am able to support and reassure them. I enjoy completing my show rounds with the families and answering any questions where I can. I feel when families are looking for a care home this can be an emotional time for them and they need compassion and someone to listen and support them on their journey to find their loved one in the right place.

My name is Gemma and I am the manager here at Acer Court. I have worked for Avery for over 8 years now developing my skills from a deputy manager in a busy Avery nursing home, in Staffordshire, to becoming a successful manager at sister home Alder House and now transferring to Acer Court.
I am from Stoke on Trent and I have worked in the healthcare industry for 18 years, completing most roles that you would find in a regular care home and working my way up to the manager role completing many qualifications along the way. My main experience, knowledge and background is in Dementia care and this is an area of care that I am most passionate about.
Outside of my career, I love to go to the gym Subsequently, this has led to me signing up for many charity events such as white-collar boxing, half marathons and various assault courses. I just love to help people, in any way I can.
